Leroy Blodgett | First Year | Slytherin
Image

Full Name: Leroy Blodgett
House: Slytherin
Age: 11
Wand: 31,3 cm chestnut wood and dragon heartstring - Chestnut is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. Dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most magic power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types.

Average height and build; Big ears; Dark brown eyes; Dark brown straight hair slicked to the right;

Leroy Blodgett is a prim and proper child with a straight posture and graceful manners. His height is on the average side - standing 140cm tall. To add to his averageness, his build is rather planky. What's not so average about him is a pair of big ears, sticking out on either side of his ever so slightly freckled face. His eyes are a dark brown color and seem to exude a mix between curiosity and uncertainty most of the time. His hair is perfectly straight and combed properly to the right side of his head.

Quiet; Careful; Well Mannered; Bookworm; Late Bloomer;

Leroy is the only son born in the Blodgett family in the small town of East Grinstead. His mother April and his father Blaze have always had high expectations in terms of manners, knowledge, attitude and last but not least - the boy's future in magic. And certainly Leroy was always held up to those standards and taught to behave properly. Being absolutely certain that their offspring will be among the finest, most powerful and most righteous of wizards one day, the Blodgetts wasted no time in fun and games and, as soon as young Leroy started curiously stuttering on syllables on the muggle ad leaflets, he was surrounded by a ton of wizard history books. The boy did not mind. He found the matter quite fascinating and engaging while his parents were convinced that so much studying was doing miracles for their offspring's knowledge. This, however, was not entirely true as most of the time,once Leroy finished a book the only thing he could remember about it was the way it made him feel. Details, dates, names (even ones of significance) all escaped from the boy's head as soon as that back cover was closed. However, the young boy enjoyed reading nonetheless.

The Blodgetts wanted their son to be proud of his heritage and, most of all, proud to be a wizard. But, to them, being brought up as a wizard came with some restrictions. Leroy had to be home-schooled and was certainly not allowed to have any muggle friends. This last part the boy found to be quite a bummer but, as usual, he followed his parents rules certain that they both knew what was best for him. That being said, there were a couple other witch families in the town of East Grinstead who also had children around Leroy's age - the Owlers and the Raywoods. April and Blaze Blodgett thought it was a good idea for their son to grow up around other wizards and occasionally invited the other two families over to dinner but Leroy never really got along with the other wizard kids in his town. Mostly because they were all too busy bragging about their random bursts of accidental magic, while Leroy... well, Leroy didn't have any. During one such gathering he heard whispers calling him a squib behind his back. He would often daydream about playing with a group of close friends, ones he could trust, like any other kid his age would. The boy craved the fun company of peers, even if that meant being friends with muggles. However, the boy didn't ever give voice to those wishes as he didn't want to seem ungrateful or disappoint his parents. He just kept quiet and smiled politely everytime the Raywoods and Owlers were invited to his house.

But not having any real friends he could trust, talk to, play with and experience all the adventures a boy his age should be allowed to experience was proving to be a rather lonely deal. So, instead of letting the loneliness creep inside him, little Leroy would go out on small adventures all by himself and keep himself busy with all sorts of activities. A walk in the park, an afternoon in the library, a morning spent in the pine woods outside the edge of East Grinstead, anything was an adventure to a young and curious explorer!

As years went by and Leroy was yet to show even the smallest signs of accidental magic but magic did not come. As usual, his parents were supportive and reassuring. Sure, his magic is going to come and it's going to be so strong, such a burst of energy! But the boy was struggling to believe that and starting to think that perhaps the Owler and Raywood kids were right after all - maybe he was a squib. And all of that was only intensified by the fact that his peers were already having stronger bursts of magic. Things were not going too well for Leroy until on the day of his 10th birthday, as he once again wished for acidental magic, he blew the candles. Just as soon as the flames went out, they lit the tops of the candles again. He tried blowing the candles again only for the little plump flames to appear with a flicker and dance on top of the birthday candles mockingly, not willing to be put out. The boy looked around, wondering if this was a trick his parents were playing on him. If it were, it certainly wasn't funny at all. However, to Leroy's surprise April and Blaze Blodgett were just as shocked as he was. He did this! All by himself! While this certainly wasn't much, it was just enough to keep the young boy going forward in his path to wizardry and restore his faith. During his tenth year and throughout his eleventh one - not much improved in terms of his magic abilities and Leroy would occasionally light and extinguish nearby small candles in random bursts. It wasn't long before he noticed that those bursts frequently happened when there were sudden changes in his mood or whenever his thoughts would take a new direction.

Despite candle flame control being the only little trick Leroy could do - the praise from his parents did not end. April and Blaze Blodgett were simply over the moon about the little bursts of magic their precious wizard son was performing. When the Hogwarts acceptance letter arrived to the Blodgett household, Leroy was both excited and relieved. He was happy and ready to take the very first steps on his path to wizardry. And, although he would never admit that, he was also ready to move away from his parents and their grandiose expectations for him.

A Wizard Needs His Wand
Solo; Pre-Hogwarts; Ollivanders; Finished;
Leroy is in Diagon Alley shopping for his first year Hogwarts' list of student supplies with his parents. On their way to Ollivanders Mr. and Mrs. Blodgett let him know that both their wands were of unicorn hair core and that his is certainly going to be the same. Leroy is quite surprised when he ends up being chosen by a wand with dragon heartstring core.
