The true match for a beech wand will be, if young, wise beyond his or her years, and if full-grown, rich in understanding and experience. Beech wands perform very weakly for the narrow-minded and intolerant. Such wizards and witches, having obtained a beech wand without having been suitably matched (yet coveting this most desirable, richly hued and highly prized wand wood), have often presented themselves at the homes of learned wandmakers such as myself, demanding to know the reason for their handsome wandโ€™s lack of power. When properly matched, the beech wand is capable of a subtlety and artistry rarely seen in any other wood, hence its lustrous reputation.

This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.
Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.

Ross had never been prone to being confrontational. In fact, he tended to avoid doing so at all costs. Whenever someone was being bullied, he frequently found himself looking the other way. It was not that he did not wish to step in, of course. He often times would find himself quietly inquiring if the other person was okay in situations such as that as soon as the threat had left. He prided himself on being painfully average- out of the radar of teachers and out of the radar of students. People tended to gloss over him, but he hardly minded. Within friend groups he remained a drifter, talking to those he was curious of when he could bring himself to get the courage to do so. His grades were not excellent; however, they were not poor either. He did his homework and helped his parents as kids tended to do. Of course, he always made reckless decisions. It was practically a hobby of his. It is what entered him in what little conflict he had, which he would quickly withdraw from. It tended to harm his self esteem; however, he usually managed to escape before he had to resolve it.

He was rather empathetic and emotionally wise. While he was not quite in tune with his own emotions, he certainly understood others and would gladly listen to how other people felt. It was a maturity he had not realized he had, but it had been commented on from time to time. He valued humor as well, struggling to get along with people who did not at least have some sense of it.

He had a tendency to avoid his own emotions, but it certainly was not on purpose. He just struggled to understand them. He would spend hours upon hours dreaming to himself of adventures beyond his reach. He gained an interest in mystery novels and found himself reading them quite frequently. Due to his father's side of the family having a past of shepherds, he became fond of sheep without encountering many. They had small statues and portraits of them along the home they lived in. He also enjoyed online games, as if conflict began to stir up he could easily leave. It was a way to get a nice adventure at home. He planned on entering middle school band, but got the letter before he could go. He now has a trombone with little to no trombone skills, but he is trying his best.
๐•ฑ๐–Ž๐–—๐–˜๐–™ ๐–„๐–Š๐–†๐–—
The separation from his family made him anxious; however, it was a new start. He had wondered how the wizarding world was going to be as soon as he got his letter. As his first action, he attempted to step out of his comfort zone. He attempted to approach people he was curious in, tending to pester them with questions and ending up with a very annoyed person and an even more intrigued Ross. He picked up journaling, which helped control his anxieties of the new experiences he was suddenly dealing with. He treated every person as a new mystery to crack, like some form of game. It was entertainment to him, but it left him the same: a wanderer. He found he was rather fond of pumpkin juice. After he found a notebook within the library written by Knox Stephens, he found himself interested in charms as well.

He was increasingly curious, consistently asking questions about people and subjects. The whole world was like unlocking a mystery where he was allowed to ask questions. He was allowed to feel ways he had never felt before. It was fascinating. For once nobody knew what was happening and it was wonderful. He adored every moment of it.

After he was forced to enter conflict sometime within the year, he learned that not all conflict was bad conflict. He even learned that writing in his journal was not particularly a bad thing. Still, after all mistakes he laid in bed at night and regretted them. He claimed a small dorm within the Hufflepuff common room, which gave him a nice, introverted space to write in. He enjoyed going outside and playing with the worms as well, as at home he normally did not get the chance to see them wiggle around.

Halfway through the year, he learned that his mother was pregnant with another child. This began feelings that he was being replaced, and he began to feel insecure. So much in fact, he struggled to return home for Christmas break. He received a sheep ring from his mother, which he has started fidgeting with.

By the end of the year, Ross remained a wanderer, but learned that conflict was okay. He learned how to speak to people, and that talking to them is okay as well.
๐•พ๐–Š๐–ˆ๐–”๐–“๐–‰ ๐–„๐–Š๐–†๐–—
Ross returned to school feeling like he was being replaced, lonely, and frustrated. He picked up a lying habit when it came to talking about his emotions without properly realizing it. On top of that, he picked up minor claustrophobia when other anxieties were kicking in. This made his closed in dorm far more anxiety inducing than it should have been. It began to be difficult to sleep, and he became increasingly frustrated that he was just a wanderer and nothing more. People were responding less to his curiosities about them, and soon he felt confused and alone. He stopped writing in his journal as much as he felt it was not helping. He lashed out at people, especially when hungry or tired. If one who had known him prior met him then, they would likely not have connected it was the same boy.

He discovered he enjoyed mentoring. It was a way to feel confident about his own abilities while learning more of another child. He always enjoyed when they caught him off guard. It was a helpful way for him to gain confidence.

He remained home for the holidays, in which in an encounter he learned two major things. The first thing was that he still had hope, he mattered, and that he had far more control over his emotions than he had assumed. The other thing was that pecan pie tasted far better after too many tears were spilled.

By halfway through the school year, Ross learned he needed to work on controlling his emotions and that he needed to start actively searching for friends if he truly wanted them.

Ross was born to Margaret Eagan, a muggle woman, and Callum Stephens, a wizard man. Margaret Eagan ran a small bakery on a tiny street corner in Crayford England. Callum did not inform Margaret that he was a wizard until three years into their deep relationship. Margaret was more than heart broken, but Callum informed her he longed for a normal life without magic. Margaret ended up forgiving him out of pure relief, and they prayed that Ross would not be a wizard.

Ross went to a small school and lived a relatively normal childhood. Every day after school, Ross would go over to the bakery and help bake. Sometimes he would simply do homework, but always he would enjoy time at home. Even so, this did not stop him from showing signs of magic. At a young age in preschool, a boy tried to steal one of his toys. It was all fine, until there was a loud BANG. The toy exploded into pieces, and it was shrugged off as just an accident. Later in elementary, a boy was arguing with a girl over seating. Ross was brought in, and soon they began to insult each other again. Ross, stressed out, curled up in a ball. There was a loud crash, and the girl and the boy were then on the floor. This landed Ross almost a suspension, if it weren't for his father who managed to talk them out of it.

Finally, one day at the bakery, his parents were bickering. Ross was making cookies, and overhead them arguing. His attempts to ignore them were futile, and soon he yelled "COULD YA PLEASE KNOCK IT OUT?" Batter flew all over the room, and as his parents rushed over. At that point, they were well aware he was a wizard. They despised it, and they knew well that his 11th birthday was coming up.

It was tense in the family for a long while, and when the letter arrived his father told him very little. The only thing Ross truly knew was that he was magic, and he still had issues wrapping his head around it. He was forced to go shopping for his supplies practically on his own, while his father waited on the other side. It gave Ross a strong feeling of independence, but anxiety inside of himself.

Even so, Ross lived a loving and good childhood. He still cares of his parents, and cannot find himself thinking of too many bad memories.

Callum Stephens was a young Slytherin. He was a halfblood, which would be fine if he was not in a house that had several purebloods that found themselves rather better than him. he was picked on, and this strongly lowered his self esteem. His parents were extremely supportive of him being a wizard, but it still hurt him. He began to struggle in all classes except one, which was potions. He thrived in potions, which some considered weak. He had less than an enjoyable experience at Hogwarts, but still found himself enjoying it slightly. In his third year, his father died, who was a Hufflepuff. Nobody knows why he died, but Callum was outraged. He was convinced wizards were bad when he left, as he believed the reason his father died was due to magic. He thought he was not a true one, and believed that he could be better. Finding out Ross was a wizard broke his heart, because it was like learning he had just raised the antichrist in his eyes. It terrified him. he wondered what he did wrong. Truly, he was just a sad, scared man and he needs help realizing that maybe wizarding is not so bad after all. He does not actually truly believe Ross is bad. He just fears he will have the same experience he did.

His few friends gave him joy, and were often muggleborn Hufflepuffs. He stayed in contact with them even after he left Hogwarts, and stayed very close to them. They're always welcome to come over and have some food. He cares deeply of them, and thinks of them as saints.

He treasures his beloved wife close to his heart. He wonders where she got all of the understanding from, and feels she is one of the kindest people in the world. He met her in that same bakery as a child, and when he came back from Hogwarts she still remembered him. They fell in love from there, and every year they would send letters to each other. He cares deeply for her, and if anything were to happen to her he would be heart broken.

Margaret Eagan was an understanding muggle from a young age. She had sparkling blue eyes and wavy blonde hair. She would be what many wizards call the definition of a Hufflepuff. The bakery had been passed down to generation and generation. She is curious and consistently asked questions. In a universe where Callum and Margaret had traded places, perhaps life would have been better. She was practically a prodigy in her school. While she was naive and clueless at times, she truly tried her best. As a mother, she still cares deeply of Ross. He is her son, after all.

Knox Stephens is Ross' Grandfather. He was born in 1953 to a witch mother and a muggle father. The boy was raised on a farm, in which there were plenty of sheep. He seemed to grow attached to the sheep quickly, as he would often spend time around them. He was shown to be magic at an incredibly young age, and it seemed he was rather powerful. Both his mother and father were supportive of this.

When he was sent to Hogwarts, he was sorted into Hufflepuff almost as soon as the hat touched his head. He excelled at charms at his time there, and was considered quite popular. He left his notebook of charms spell notes in the library, in which Ross later finds and steals for his own.

Once he graduated, he found a muggle girl whom he fell in love with. He became an activist for muggle rights, which did not age well with the time period. He had one child named Callum when he was 28, and tried to support him the best he could. Callum grew fond of Knox, but when Callum entered his third year and Knox hit 41 Knox got killed by a death eater due to his activism of muggle rights. The scene was covered up, making it seem as if nobody knew how he died; however, Callum blamed it on wizards. He began to hate the wizard community, and blamed them for his father's death.
