Black walnut seeks a master of good instincts and powerful insight, it is a very handsome wood, but not the easiest to master. Katy Hunter is Maya's mother. She loves Maya dearly, but spends a great deal of time working to make ends meet. She tries her best to take care of Maya and works as a waitress in a small cafe, she is also a witch but decided to live a muggle life

Maya enjoys drawing and art as it helps her express herself and how she is feeling, when she has a pencil in her hand she will always be drawing something that catches her eye or just doodling little sketches

Maya is a beautiful young girl with long wavy blonde hair, she has fair skin, blue eyes, big rosy lips, she has a slim, yet athletic figure and is slightly short for her age

Outwardly, Maya conveys a "bad girl" persona overconfident, tough, quick-witted and sarcastic she will stand up for herself and others but Maya is not always proud of the person she is. Much of her brashness could be because of the fact that her father abandoned her when she was five.

She jokes around a lot and doesn’t act like she pays attention much in class but Maya's outward toughness is often a façade

Maya is tough and isn’t very trusting when you first meet her but she can quickly open up once you become her friend. Maya will stand up for what she believes in and for her friends, she also appreciates all the little things in life and sees the beauty in most things.

Maya is very loyal and kind and she will always stand up for her friends and be there for them no matter what she knows what it’s like to be left so she always wants to help everyone

Maya lives in London with her mother Katy Hunter, her father left them when she was 5 and she still don’t know why. Her mum is also a witch but she chose to live a simple muggle life after having Maya taking up a job as a waitress in a small cafe, Maya is not sure what her father was maybe he was muggle maybe he was a wizard. Maya has had an okay life growing up her mum always tried to be there for her even though she worked a lot and was sometimes busy or working late and she hasn’t had a father for most of her life it’s just been her and her mum which taught Maya to be independent and strong willed and she practically raised herself.

Maya’s still angry at her father for leaving with no reason and he hasn’t contacted them since she was five but she is angry at herself as well and part of her believes she did something to make him leave that she wasn’t enough, her mother tries her hardest to raise Maya in a happy household but this means she works a lot taking on extra shifts to provide for Maya and get food on the table

Before coming to Hogwarts Maya was attending a public school luckily she’s started showing signs of magic just after her father left and just before she started school so when she arrived at school she didn’t show any outburst of magic except for a few times when she got really angry

Maya didn’t have many friends in school and was just seen as the tough girl, now she’s at Hogwarts she wants to change this she doesn’t like being alone all the time and she really wants a good friend to be there for her throughout everything

Maya’s style is cool, colourful and different, she loves to mix together different clothing, colours, and styles, and she sometimes accessorises with a variety of things, from scarves to necklaces, she also always has a nice jacket or blazer.
