besides his messy hair and lack of organizational skills, he dresses himself tidy and orderly.
although he has a slender frame, he is relatively quite strong.
he's well-mannered and polite, however, will stand up for people he cares about. rather quiet, he has a distant and reserved front, but when people get to know him he's loyal, curious, playful, affectionate and very fickle.

this is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. the wand of chestnut is attracted to witches and wizards who are skilled tamers of magical beasts, those who possess great gifts in herbology, and those who are among those who are overfond of luxury and material things, and less scrupulous than they should be about how they are obtained.

phoenix feather.

this is the rarest core type. phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. they show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. these wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.

oliver was very close to his mother before she disappeared, which made growing up very hard for him without her. she's the only person oliver has ever looked up to;
to this day, he wishes to be just like her.

which he tries very hard to never forget.
she was a smart, self-assured woman. a slytherin graduate, who spent most of her time within the wizarding world, until she had children.
isabelle’s father, jack, often reminds oliver and anna of the strong woman she was.
he takes pride in telling the two little ones her many stories.

oliver was never too fond, or close to his father, leon.
leon never put much effort into raising his children. he was a quiet and reserved man.
a muggle, who was afraid of getting too close to people.
oliver dislikes his own quiet side, as it reminds him of his father's absence.
despite oliver disliking his father, he couldn't deny that leon had protected them all,
and though it never seemed like it, leon did care for all of them.

heated arguments half the time.
nearly all of oliver's manners and politeness are due to his grandfather.
jack is a stern, reserved slytherin graduate. he can be cold to strangers, and those he's unfamiliar with, but displays his caring side a little more toward his family.
jack likes to think oliver's hard-working attitude stems from the way he's raised him.

anna is very close with oliver, growing up they usually never left each other's side.
the two are often mistaken for twins.
anna is a quiet girl, although very mischevious. she's clever, kind and honest;
but her honesty can get her into trouble, as she is very blunt and forward.

childhood

oliver grew up on a farm in dublin with his grandfather jack and his younger sister anna. he was little when his parents went missing, but he was very close with his mother, less so with his father. he hardly knew the man. oliver had an immensely hard time losing his mother, he felt as if he lost the only person he could really talk to. After that, his grandfather looked after the two children. jack is a stern man, he was in the wizarding world for nearly all his life working for the ministry of magic. he attended hogwarts when he was younger and was sorted into the house of slytherin, he was a determined and exceptionally strong-willed student back in the day. which means when raising oliver and anna, he made sure they were disciplined and were as ambitious and hard-working as he was. he could be quite harsh to oliver and anna, but they both knew that he wanted the best for them, although this meant that they weren't very close to him and felt they couldn't talk personally to him. this lead oliver and anna to rely on each other, they are remarkably close and look after each other.

when oliver became old enough, he attended primary school quite far from their farm; oliver was nervous, he had trouble making friends and was frowned upon by his peers, for multiple reasons; one being that he had never met his mother and father.
after a long time of being isolated from people at his primary, he told his grandfather that he didn't want to go there anymore, however, his grandfather viewed this as a sign of weakness, which pushed their relationship even further apart.
after a long time of arguing, jack decided it would be best to home-educate oliver and his little sister.

when the time came, his grandfather sat down with the two children and explained to them about their heritage and connection to the wizarding world. isabelle, their mother, was a strong and powerful witch, and their father, leon, was a muggle. he told them about the many stories of their mother, defeating great evils and becoming a celebrated woman in the wizarding world. due to their disappearance, their grandfather was worried about the safety of oliver and anna, and so hid them from the world on an isolated farm. he explained his own wizarding experiences, stories and mentioned hogwarts.

he was cautious about wanting oliver to attend hogwarts after his experiences with primary, but he didn't doubt that oliver would work hard after hearing of his mother's acts.
oliver was determined to find out the truth about his parent's disappearance and follow in the steps of his mother.
he also felt a responsibility to his little sister to protect her. oliver learning spells and engaging his powers would make it easier to protect her.
he also felt a strong urge to impress and make his grandfather proud of him, after all these years of jack teaching him discipline, he wanted to show that it wasn't wasted.
