One day, this encyclopedia page will be perfectly in depth and beautifully formatted to my liking, but that day is not today. Until then, consider it always a work in progress. While I am trying to avoid major plot edits in my character's story, sometimes they become necessary- they will be noted and I apologize for any confusion.

Small in stature, big in spirit, and full of adventure. A quiet girl from a humble seaside town in northern England, oblivious to her own magical ability til age eleven, this tenacious half-blood witch is on a mission to prove her skills, and ultimately, herself.

A petite and gangly girl, slightly taller than average for her age. She has wavy, dark brown hair that falls a few inches past her shoulders, and is naturally highlighted from the sun in the summer months. Her full eyebrows frame her bright blue eyes, and she has a small, round nose.

Tatiana is an only child who has a close relationship with her parents and an itch for exploring. An introvert, she is typically shy, rather quiet, and slow to trust others. She likes to read, draw and paint, and can commonly be found sitting alone with a book. She values honesty and can be very generous, almost to a fault. Once comfortable, she is more willing to show her witty and playful nature. She does not like to be unprepared or embarrassed, and will avoid attention wherever possible (unless she has the opportunity to answer a question in class). She is always mindful of her surroundings and cautious before making any sort of decision, and she makes decisions based on logic rather than her emotion (most of the time). She is methodical and neat, in all aspects of her life, and would rather be working than relaxing. Due to her lack of magical knowledge before attending Hogwarts, she considers herself a bit of an underdog. This results in her constantly being unsure of herself and questioning her own ability.

When Tatiana’s mother decided to leave her family in France to marry a muggle man, her parents were furious. Though he made her very happy, he hadn’t fit into the life they’d envisioned for their daughter, and they were disappointed in her decision to live in hiding amongst muggles instead of accepting a job in the wizarding community. They also had not approved of her decision to reveal her magical abilities to him, but knowing their marriage wouldn’t last if she didn’t, she told him anyway. Even so, his swearing to secrecy and her willingness to trust him wasn’t enough for Elodie’s parents, and it caused a major rift in their relationship. Because of this, other than a card sent by her wizarding grandparents every year on her birthday, Tatiana has never had as much as a conversation with anyone on her mother’s side of the family.

In both an effort to hide the reason behind her lack of a relationships with one half of her extended family, and an effort to protect her from exposing herself to muggles, Tatiana’s parents decided to keep magic a secret from her. Still unsure if she’d even be born with the ability herself, her parents told themselves they wouldn’t tell her until she was eighteen- that is, unless she showed promise of natural skills before then. So, they settled to the outskirts of a small English town and enrolled Tatiana in the local muggle schools.

Other than a few snappy remarks here and there, Tatiana was an all around pretty average, slightly overachieving, young girl. Or at least that's what she thought, until she received the letter from Hogwarts on her eleventh birthday. Until then, she had been blissfully unaware of her mother’s powers, despite unknowingly witnessing her use them once or twice during her childhood. She only know her mother as the local apothecary, and didn’t understand her potion making commonly used magic, she just assumed she was very talented at making medicines- as she’d been told. When she finally began to show signs of magical ability, she was much too young to register what the odd occurrences really meant.

Nothing too major happened, the random thing out of place here and there, but certainly enough to spook a pair of unsuspecting new parents. Once, around age three or four, her mother was watering her houseplants while Tatiana played on the rug on the floor on the opposite side the living room. Her mother set her watering pail down next to her while she trimmed a few browning leaves, only to reach to pick it up just a few seconds later and found nothing but air where it should have been sitting at her feet. Confused, she turned quickly to her left and right, looking on top the table and the set of shelves next to her. But when she heard water start pouring, it sounded like it was coming from behind her. Turning, she saw the young Tatiana holding the watering can, pouring it out over her dolls. "She told she wanted a shower too!" the young girl squealed, beaming up proudly at her mother, holding her soaking wet doll in her other hand. She had summoned the watering can to her from across the room. Her mother was shocked, but ultimately relieved, to finally be sure that this was a part of her life she would be able to share with her daughter.

However, Tatiana was very young then, and she hadn't remembered. And her parents had decided together they wanted her to discover it on her own, so they never really made a point to bring it up and remind her. Unlike her, they knew the time would come early in her teens, where she’d be called away to a special school where she could finally hone her craft. And perhaps they were concerned that if she knew, her curiosity would have caused trouble somewhere a little too public, like her school- and they were probably right. But they knew their daughter, and Hogwarts would just be another quest for her to conquer. After all, she was their little adventurer and she had spent many days on her own traversing the ins and outs of the dark caves and steep cliffs along their seaside home. She had little fear, and they knew not only would she be prepared, but eager and anxious to start this new journey. And when the time came that she would finally be practicing magic, she would be surrounded by the best and the brightest peers and educators the magical world had to offer.

HER TIME IN SCHOOL

YEAR ONE

Tatiana's first year at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was full of new acquaintances and experiences, perhaps more so than she had intended. One of her very first friends, a spirited young Gryffindor named Maggie Parker, gained an infamous reputation as party organizer and prankster. Though not exactly Tati's favorite past times, she was surprised to find that these activities would bring her much joy and new friends. Maggie even managed to secretly figure out Tatiana's birthday and threw her an intimate and thoughtful surprise party.

She spent the majority of her time in the library or on the grounds, studying, assisting others with their homework, and sketching by the lake. Her fondness for the Hogwarts grounds only grew as she stayed at school well into the summer, enjoying the time she spent at summer camp with her cabin mates. She played games of manhunt, truth or dare, hot seat, and even participated in the stone skipping contest. In addition to the fun and games, she volunteered for errands around the castle in order to gain a little spending money. After freshening up the greenhouses and washing dishes, and with a little financial help from friends, she was able to purchase a furry companion, a quiet and curious Egyptian Mau named Bas.

YEAR TWO

Tatiana has a bit of a chip on her shoulder when it comes to her own personal success. She feels like an underdog of sorts, having to learn things about the wizarding world that other students grew up their whole lives knowing. In order to combat her incessant feelings of inadequacy, she spends most of her time studying magical history and ahead in her lessons. While sacrificing her social life may be the cost of achieving her goals, she believes it is a price she is willing to pay.

Due to her mother's profession, she is both comfortable with and passionate about herbs and potion making. While her future after Hogwarts is by no means set in stone, she hopes to be able to employ these interests in her post school career. She would be beyond happy in a role as a Herbologist or Potioneer, or even as a teacher of either subject, but believes her true calling is a healer. By working as a mediwitch, she would be able to combine both of her passions and use them as a means to help others.

WAND WOOD AND CORE

Chestnut - This is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. The wand of chestnut is attracted to witches and wizards who are skilled tamers of magical beasts, those who possess great gifts in Herbology, and those who are natural fliers.

Snallygaster heartstring - Snallygaster heartstring is a core used to make wands by Ilvermorny co-founders James Steward and Isolt Sayre. The Snallygaster is a dragon-like beast known to exist in the New World. The part-bird, part-reptile is a distant relative of the Occamy. It cannot breathe fire unlike the dragon, but uses fangs made of serrated steel to slice through its prey. It is naturally curious and has a bulletproof hide. A wand with snallygaster heartstring is considered a jack of all trades, with a penchant for defensive spells. Curiosity still works its way into this wand, and this wand seeks an owner with matching curiosity.

Élodie Odette Pernault was a young, bright witch from the southern Occitanie region of France. Her medium brown hair hung straight as board, all the way down to the small of her back. Though, anyone who had met her outside of her own home, would never have known it’s true length, as she was rarely spotted without it hanging over her shoulder in a loose braid. Her hair provided a stark contrast to her fair skin and bright blue eyes- of which she passed down to Tatiana. She attended Beauxbatons Academy in her youth, and graduated with specializations in Herbology and Potions.

Oliver Isaac Crane was a curious young muggle man with a knack for history and a fascination with the supernatural. He was all together a pretty normal lad, with his sandy brown hair and medium brown eyes to match. But what his outward appearance lacked in spectacle, he made up for with a charming and tender personality. In his senior year at university, Oliver traveled abroad to France, his education bringing him on a tour through some of the countries most distinguished sites. It was after having walked all day, stopping outside of Notre Dame, that he first encountered Élodie.

HOW THEY MET

Élodie and another young woman were sitting outside on the steps enjoying their pastries in the warm morning sun, her radiant smile visible to him even from across the square. Oliver couldn’t explain why he was drawn to her, but before he could bother to think about it, he found his feet already moving one after another in her direction. After a few stumbling attempts, he managed to invite her for coffee, and the rest was history. After that, they met every morning for breakfast, until his return to school but a few weeks later. Keeping in touch by mean of frequent letters, the young couple yearned to be with one another again. Upon graduation, Élodie left her home in France and traveled to join young Oliver in England.

Before long, they found themselves moving into the home his parents had built, a small seaside cottage atop a cliff overlooking the sea just outside their rural town. It was here that she invited Oliver in to know the secrets of her magical life, and though surprised, he was quick to accept her. His studies of history and the occult had prepared him, somewhat. And when she finally performed magic in front of him for the first time, the only feeling that overcame him was one of curiosity and awe. Settling down in their quiet town, Élodie worked out of their home as an apothecary, putting her education to practical use. Oliver, with his love for the water, took a job as a fisherman as a means to mingle with the local town folk and stay out of the house while she worked. In the years to come, they would have a single child, Tatiana.

Charlotte Cadunt
The very first person Tatiana met after arriving at Hogwarts. She was gracious enough to save her from missing the boats across the lake and has continued to be kind and generous ever since. She also turned out to be the cousin of Tati's other good friend, Maggie.

Telle Dune
A nice enough, although incredibly quiet girl, who was also on the boat with Charlotte and Tatiana the first night of school. Tati doesn't know her very well as she never said much.

Carson Miller
A kind and outgoing Hufflepuff boy Tatiana was introduced to through their mutual friend, Maggie. He's fun to be around and is quick to offer help whenever needed.

Fumiko Tachibana
A sweet girl, they met at Maggie Parker's lake party. She doesn't know much about her, but Tatiana likes her because she stood up for Mac's cooking, and would love the opportunity to get to know her better.

Oliver Lock
Tatiana doesn't know much about him. Though they've met a few times through Maggie, they haven't spoken much. Even so, as the crush of her outgoing Gryffindor friend, she figures he must be a pretty nice guy.

One of Tatiana's first friends at Hogwarts, and her closest, Maggie is an incredibly thoughtful, fun-loving, party animal. She is constantly arranging get togethers and activities for her ever growing friend population. Tatiana can hardly keep up with her, but is grateful to have someone like her in her life and for the opportunity to constantly be meeting new people.

Tatiana met her by accident when she went out on the lake late one night to spend some time alone and relax by drawing. They only spent time together once, but had a very prolific conversation about expectations and familial ties.

01. Inadequate -- In a very Ravenclaw type fashion, Tatiana is an overachiever when it comes to school. Though not cocky about it, she is easily embarrassed when unable to perform a task and works hard to maintain her grade average. I'd like to see her try and work through some of these feelings, so if you're character is a bully looking for a fresh new victim, let me know!

02. Crushing Feelings -- Being a ripe age of twelve, Tatiana is just coming into her feelings- romantically, that is. As we are still children, I'm not looking to snog anyone, maybe just a few stolen glances, flushed faces, some awkward and nervous dialogue. She has recently started to open up about her feelings for both boys and girls (and anyone in between), so gender is of no concern, though possibly either her year or above.

03. Dark Pursuits -- In her endless quest for knowledge, Tatiana doesn't discriminate against types of new information, dark or otherwise. Upon discovering dark arts and magic, and the role it played in the history of the wizarding world, she's led down a path she might never be able to come back from. Will the mysterious grey areas of dark magic prove too enticing a conquest to deny her insatiable curiosity?

01. The Sorting Ceremony
Shortly after arriving, with little knowledge of the wizarding world and no friends, the first night festivities begin. Tatiana wasn't hoping for any house in particular, as she felt she could excel in any of the four.
02. First Year, Boat Ride
Tatiana first arrives at Hogwarts after her ride on the train, nervous to make friends, and barely misses the boat ride across the lake, but is saved by Charlotte Cadunt and Telle Dunne.
03. Some Early Morning Reading
After holing herself up in the library for some solo studying for Potions and Herbology, Tatiana joins another table to meet Maggie Parker and Amaya Jackson.
04. A Strange Encounter
A little night time drawing by the like breeds a new, unexpected friendship with a Gryffindor, Alyssa Warren, and a conversation about familial expectations.
05. Sprucing the Place Up
In an effort to help out a little around the school, Tatiana pairs up with Maggie Parker and Mac Murphy to harvest and replant the greenhouse and the grounds.
06. First Year Graduation Party
With her first year coming to a close, Tatiana decides to attend the end of the year party, only to get caught in the middle of a disco ball disaster.
07. Lake Party
After becoming friends with Maggie Parker, she gets invited to join her and all of her friends by the lake for a meet and greet, and a friendly game of Truth or Dare.
08. Clumsy and Helpless
Tatiana is studying ahead to keep up with her classes when she notices another student, Airlia, wandering the shelves, acting peculiar, and maybe needing a little extra help with her Potions essay.
09. Barely Keeping It Together
Trying to deal with her new, and ever growing, knowledge of the wizarding world she's suddenly become a part of, Tatiana searches for a (mostly) empty cabin for her train ride to school.
10. Costume Party... in April?
Maggie Parker, infamous thrower of parties, has another idea. This time, she invites all the friends she's met throughout the year to play dress up at a costume party. And no, it's not Halloween.

11. Cabin-mates
Maggie brings her friends back together in order to form two cabin groups, the boys and the girls, to prepare for a summer of secrets, fun, and games.
12. Swimming In The Lake
With school being out for the summer, all students who remained behind are invited to swim in the pool section of the lake during designated hours.
13. Kelpie Cavern
After separating from the boys, Tatiana joins her cabin with Maggie, Charlotte, and Min and they deem themselves 'Kelpie Cavern'. A game of hotseat and divulging secrets ensues.
14. Surprise!
Though she tried to keep it a secret, Maggie discovers the date of Tatiana's birthday and throws her a small, intimate party in a forest clearing with Mac and Charlotte.
15. Meeting Up
After joining yet another large friend group, this time headed by Sylvie Maple, Tatiana meets up with everyone at Florean's for a little summer hang out to get to know everyone a little better.
16. Manhunt
Maggie, in her usual devious party animal fashion, arranges a game of manhunt by joining teams with the boys of Dragon's Den cabin on the outskirts of the forbidden forest.
17. Balloon Barrage
A prank war has broken out between the members of the summer camp cabins! One cabin plans a water balloon surprise for another. They may have started this battle, but who will win the war?
18. Soap and Suds
In need of a little extra spending money, Tatiana volunteers to complete another castle errand during her summer holiday. This time, it's cleaning the dirty dishes after dinner, and with a few new acquaintances.
19. Foraging for Relaxation
Finally having some free time to herself, Tatiana wanders into the forest for some leisurely herb gathering, only to find someone else had the same idea. Finally meeting Dale, they bond over similar interests.
20. Jade Green Eyes
After a summer of volunteering for errands, and some generous donations from friends, Tatiana scrounges up enough galleons for a pet. She finds her soulmate in a shy Egyptian Mau she names Bas.
21. Interrupted Introspection
Waking early one morning, Tatiana decides to take a stroll along the lake only to discover someone else is already out there. Though not immediately obvious, it happens to be one of the girls from the cabin that tried to prank them with water balloons. Will this prank come between them, or can they be friends?
22. Dance!
In retaliation to the unsuspected water balloon prank by another cabin, Kelpie Cavern devises a plan to get back at them by use of the Tarantellegra spell.

SECOND YEAR

23. All this, over a book?
Tatiana walks into a heated debate between two young first years. Upon reaching for the same book, she meets the fiery Gryffindor half of the spat and gains a new friendship, and an unintentional new enemy.
24. The Dark Witch Society
Together with her new red headed comrade, Marla Quinlan, she joins the mysterious new society founded by the bold and inspiring Gryffindor first year, Savannah Rose. After spreading promotional materials around, their first meeting commences with several new and intrigued members from all different houses and walks of life.
25. Confide In Me
After a brief stint home, and a whole lot of confusion, Tatiana has to head back to school without a lot of time to process some new information. On the ride, she makes a new friend.
26. The Light Inside Is Burning Bright
After seeing an opportunity to make candles, as well as introduce herself to the Runes professor a whole year early, Tatiana signs up for the task in exchange for a few sickles and chocolate frog cards.

Always present in Tatiana's shoulder bag is a small, leather bound notebook, worn from overuse. The corners are folded and fraying, no longer crisp from repeatedly being fidgeted with and flipped through. A small black ribbon, loosely attached to the back cover, is folded over the open end, wrapped around a small button on the front to keep it closed. This is neither the first, nor the second, that she's owned- but maybe the most important. Most often used as place to store and dry herbs, pressing them flat between the pages on which she's sketched them, this one has gained another use as well. Documenting her thoughts and feelings has become an increasingly important coping mechanism since she first found out about her wizarding heritage. The pages inside are littered with hastily scrawled hopes and concerns, endless amounts of questions she is determined to find the answers for. Written on the very first page is a quote, a reminder that her most important battle is the one against herself.
