Appearance: A mop of dark, messy hair that almost reaches his eyes. His golden eyes are covered by a pair of black rimmed glasses that he is often seen adjusting. Broad shoulders and a somewhat athletic build, he dresses well but is not known to participate in sports. He dresses in sweaters and suit-jackets primarily with a pair of khaki or dress pants when he is not in school uniform. The only time he is seen in something that could he construed as casual would be in the early morning hours when he jogs about the Hogwarts campus before classes start in a pair of sneakers that otherwise never see the light of day and a pair of sweat pants or shorts. Similarly, in the warmer months rather than jog he attempts to swim in the lake before the other students are roused from their beds.
Personality: Jürgen Hess is not shy, but he appears to be very polite to those he meets. He prefers to be liked rather than disliked but that does not mean he would submit to any bullying. He is more clever than he would admit and perhaps a better than than he thinks considering where the Sorting Hat has placed him. He considers himself to be a man of goals and would like to think of himself as using Hogwarts as a stepping stone to amass more power in the wizard community.
History: (Taken from my character sheet) Born from a long line of wizards, less a great grandfather that is undefined in my family genealogy, I am considered a wizard born. Strange in a wizard society where bloodline purity is considered so valued that she failed to give a name, even if it was a lie to preserve her family's legacy.
My parents are both German, however I was born in England and it was there that I grew up. Reared in a magical household as one would expect, I am more familiar with magical society than muggle society. I don't consider muggles anything more than a passing curiosity, like wildlife or savage natives that require either enlightenment or observation in their natural habitat.
I had a relatively happy childhood, the middle child -- my older sister Olivia and my younger brother Dirk. I would not call myself 'close' to my siblings, but I considered them to be for the most part tolerable if not at times infantile. I do have a hard time finding common ground with my peers, my intelligence has always made me a standout and for most I have been defined as 'cold.' I suppose that is not an untrue or unfounded statement, I prefer cold logic and facts to emotions and instinct.
It has been known since my first days that I was magical, not because I was something exceptional when I was ripped from my mother's womb but rather because my name, like my siblings was written in the Book of Admittance. My magic, like that of my siblings and the children from magical families that I knew first became noticeable during my toddler years. It was temper tantrums for my siblings, that wild expression of rage over not getting that coveted toy or bit of candy or something unreasonable and the uncontrolled surge of magic. For me is was in my sleep, a 'sleeping wizard' my mother called me. Object would simply move in my room as I slumbered at night, nothing harmful and nothing conscious but at times annoying as I sought an item in the place I left it the next day only to find that over night it had been relocated.
My sister had been accepted to House Ravenclaw, I expected to be admitted to the same house but much to my disappointment I found myself admitted to House Gryffindor. I never considered her to be clever, nor had I considered myself brave. I suppose I have no choice in this matter now.

Spell Spread
You can elect to reduce the accuracy of your spell by -2, increase the DC by 2 and the critical failure range by +1 to target a second user with your spell. If you roll a critical failure, the attack still goes off but the spell backfires on you, causing you to take the full brunt of the attack (you cannot avoid this) and the attack would automatically miss your intended targets.
Perfectionist
You have a reduced critical failure chance range by 1. In addition, you can counter up to 1 point of additional critical failure chances caused by abilities or spells (not potions). In other words, if you have an extended critical failure chance range (as is the case with certain races, the effect of certain spells or potions), this reduces that range by 1. So if you have a +2 critical failure chance range (meaning if you roll a 1,2, or a 3 you critically fail), this ability makes it a +1 critical range instead (meaning if you roll a 1 or a 2 you critically fail).
