CAT’S GRACE:

Alexx grew up in a family that kept a lot of secrets. Most secrets wouldn’t have otherwise made it past her ears if she hadn’t forced her way into the times where they were being spoken of. At first, she’d be too obvious. Peeking through the lock holes in the door, or having her tiny ears pressed firmly against the wood. But when you looked down at the shadows that were cast on the wooden floor, you would see the silhouette of a little girl that was up past her bedtime, trying so desperately to learn what the eldest of the four siblings already knew. Mikey, being that said eldest, was fast to catch her and drag her off to bed.

But that was when she was four. As Alexx got older, she learned strategy. She wasn’t as flowy anymore as she got older, and she held herself in a more mature manner- something that four year olds couldn’t do very well. At  about seven years of age, Alexx learned that the easiest way to avoid Mikey’s ever watching eyes was to place herself in the room. The first time she realized they, a chill went up her spine, and little bumps appeared on her arms, making the peach fuzz that was scattered on the porcelain white skin stand up.

Slowly but surely, Alexx mastered the art of keeping herself hidden in the shadows, doing perfectly undetected. She began to use the location they were in as an advantage; whatever the layout of the room, she would quickly spot out the best place to keep her hidden. If there was a plant that was concealed in a large, fat vase, her tiny body could slip behind that and no one would ever know the difference. If there was a large chair placed in the corner of the room, her back would be against it, facing the corner, a hand placed over her mouth and nose to conceal her breathing as she listened. For years, this is how she learned of the family secrets and went undetected.

As she got older, she learned more of what she could do. Pressing herself against the walls, just outside the room where they were. As long as the doors were open, she would be able to listen, occasionally peeking in. Her stillness behind large trees as she played games with her younger sister. Alexx was graceful as could be, and it didn’t come without years of practice. These days, she doesn’t find herself needing it much. She definitely has used this skill, however. Peering from behind pillars as she listened in on her peers. This was mostly for the sake of her own interests. However, despite not finding herself needing it as much, she still possesses the same grace that she spent years to accomplish.

SIXTH SENSE:

Alexx always seemed to be where the trouble was at, even as a small child. How does she got about being in the right place at the right time in terms of handing out detentions? How does she know when trouble is afoot, and often goes straight to it, offering her services? Though she might be a little reckless, she is definitely guilty of avoiding that little gut feeling that tells her to flee in the opposite direction. Regardless of her pushing past the bad feelings, her eyes are wide open.

It started when she was in America as a small child. It actually started before that, but Alexx remembers this as the time in which she figured out her keen she was with her senses. The streets of New Orleans were big beneath her small feet. At probably only about eight or nine years old, her eyes glistened up at the bright lights. There was a big smile on her face, and what she really wanted was to break out into a full-on run, right into the hustle and bustle of the atmosphere. She was alone, she could do that, right? Then the feeling came. She remembered the moment quite clearly the way her green trench coat (that was just slightly too big for her) swayed in the wind. How every light on the street was flickering, making that buzzing sound. Though there were people around, all she could hear was that buzzing sound. Her stomach twisted, and her brain begged her to turn around. She doesn’t quite know what lied ahead, because she never went onward. Her feet stumbled back, and then she turned around all together, going back home.

After that night, Alexx recalled every time this happened to her in the past, too. When she knew that someone was coming before they were even around, or how she always had a feeling when something wasn’t right. Her nature to look into things, to spy and eavesdrop, usually kicked in about this time. It was true that she had many sneaking advantages.

As a kid growing up traveling, she spent a lot of time out on the streets anyway. She needed to mature quickly. Her brother told her of the dangers that were afoot, especially in the night time. At first, Alexx shook it off. She wanted badly to believe that the eerie feeling that she felt was all in her head. It was just Mikey’s words getting to her. But then how was it that her gut feeling let her know that someone was up to no good, or when it was time for her to leave? How did she always know that she needed to return home, because something was wrong there?

In the magic world, this was way more prominent. She could tell when something was out of place. There wasn’t much room for hiding things in the muggle world, but her world had advantages like no other. Her family being the way that they were, there were always people that they couldn’t trust. When a man came in, carrying a large suitcase with him, Alexx couldn’t help but tilt her head. Something about this wasn’t right. The suitcase seemed to present itself… oddly. Almost like it was breathing. She tugged at the sleeve of her older brother, pointing it out to him. Mikey merely nodded, whispering something into their father’s ear. A moment later, their parents were in a duel with two men, chasing them out of their house. Alexx never found out why the man was truly hiding himself, though she has a few good guesses.

LOVELY CREATURE:

Alexx was beautiful, there was certainly no doubt about that. It was noticed by most people that she crossed. She certainly held many of the modern ideals in terms of “beauty”. Her long, blonde hair reached down to her mid-back, flowing so soft and perfect. She hadn’t damaged it with chemicals or rough brushing, nor was it every frizzy. Her piercing blue eyes that crinkled when she smiled. They also held a sort of frightening glisten in them when she was angry. Her face was a porcelain shade of pale, and it was structured perfectly. She was small and delicate, much like a flower.

She wasn’t always “stunning”. As a child, she looked like a normal kid. Sure, she definitely was pretty, and many people would compliment her on the way that she looked, but there wasn’t any factors that made it to where no one could take their eyes off of her. Not until her first year at Hogwarts.

The newly-appointed Slytherin girl enters Hogwarts, her golden locks bouncing behind her, her bright blue eyes looking shyly at people from behind her long lashes. You would find that her lips would be pursed ever so slightly. Everything about her was pretty. And heads certainly did turn her way. She could feel it in the halls as people stared. Only a first year? How could that be? She was so pretty for someone that was only eleven.

Then again, at the Blossom Ball of her second year. Alexx wore a dress that was decorated with bright pops of color that belonged to flowers. The dress complimented her quite nicely. She didn’t notice it this time, but as she chatted with her friends, eyes of a few older boys turned to her, and perhaps someone thought of asking her to dance. When she wasn’t sporting the Prefect badge, her beauty was the next thing that would be noticed.

She didn’t mind the attention so much, though. It wasn’t necessarily that she was getting bothered by it. She just noticed the eyes that turned her way. Perhaps it was vain of her, but she knew that she was pretty. She always thought so, at least. Especially when she presented her soft smile, the one that so few got to see. It wasn’t hard to understand why some boys ran into poles or walls at they tried to walk and glance at her at the same time.

As she got older, the more she matured in the face (losing some of the child-like features, such as cheeks that were still slightly chubby), she noticed that this only increased. There was no denying the beauty in the girl, and eyes would only continue to glance, heads would only continue to turn, but perhaps one day there would be someone who looks past the beauty.

Prodigal Defence Against the Dark Arts Learner

Oliver was brought into a dark family. His mother followed under the orders of the Dark Lord and she herself had a reputation. She was known for her dark abilities and ease with the most evil of magic. Oliver's mother was not a good woman, Oliver knew this. He wanted to love her but deep down he resented her. He didn't want anything to do with dark magic and didn't want to ever even cast a single jinx nor hex nor curse.

Yet he was good at it.

In fact, Oliver was exceptional. It was all he was good at it. Oliver found himself alone and bullied constantly and he turned to dark magic to take harsh revenge on those who belittled him. He clung on to the most wicked of spells to make his abusers leave him alone. Oliver became obsessed with learning magic that brought humiliation and pain upon others because it was the only thing that could protect him through his years in school. In a matter of months, he lost all his resent for dark magic and begun absorbing it at extreme rates. He'd read ahead while eating breakfast, he'd hand in poor assignments for other classes because he was so practicing in private other spells.

Eventually, Oliver took a spare copy of next years book from the back of the Defense Against The Dark Arts classroom and began reading that too. He wouldn't let the book go and when kids would begin bullying Oliver while he had the book, he tended to always get enraged in a moment and start casting spells he knew he should never. He could feel such a sinister energy rising inside of him with every page, he wasn't reading to defend himself from the dark arts, he was reading to master the dark arts. In this however, it scared him. He returned home for summers and would see his mother, an salvageable wreck after her time in Azkaban. He would remind himself of the path he was going towards yet at the end of the day, he would fall asleep with it under his pillow nonetheless.

Oliver is a high achieving student in Defense Against The Dark Arts and often stays after class to ask questions. Although he's been told to not go beyond his ability especially in an unsupervised part of the school many times. Oliver is noteworthy by the professor as he increasingly asks more alarming questions on Dark Arts subjects and has even asked before on the styles of combat Death Eaters would take.

Evasive Maneuvers

Oliver's luck has always worked in marvelous ways. He tends to have the worst of luck with most things, yet when it comes to an attack or threat, he tends to somehow usually get out of the situation.  It doesn't always work, more times than not he doesn't get out of the way fast enough. Oliver is a rather slow boy and at times, nothing can save him from his faith of being smashed by a punch or jinx.

Oliver's father recalls a time that they were walking through Diagon Alley when a wild bludger escaped through the window of a store. It pummeled and trashed its way down the street and was headed towards young Oliver who was completely oblivious. Oliver's father only noticed it as it began swooping down towards Oliver's head, he attempted to move towards it but it was too fast. As it crashed by, he looked down only to find Oliver had dodged the bludger. Yet he hadn't really, instead, Oliver had found a small chocolate on the footpath and had simply bent over to pick it up. As he ducked down, the bludger flew just over him and continued down the wizard street.

Oliver tends to often get into situations where his distracted state or accidental movements manage to save him from a hit. Many times in Hogwarts has a bully went to fire a spell at Oliver only for him to sidestep and move out of the trajectory. When asked after how he saw the spell coming from behind him by an impressed bully, Oliver simply told him that he felt the need to stretch his underwear which were chafing his buttcheeks. The bully presumed Oliver was trying to be funny and proceeded to throw hits at him.
During a similar situation, Oliver managed to lean back and yawn just as a spell whizzed by. The charm ended up hitting a professor as they walked into the room and the student was met with extreme consequences. It was the dancing feet jinx.

It's not that Oliver is extremely observant and can always dodge his surrounding, it tends to be down to mere luck that he dodges such incidents. Although he has begun taking notice to it and realises that he does seem to subconsciously sense when a magic force is coming towards him and his body, in a way of trying to warn him, mentally pushes Oliver towards an action that would inadvertently dodge the incoming object. This is only a curious thought of Oliver's, he tends to doubt it, especially when bullies do end up hitting him. He hopes to one day unlock his sense for incoming attacks and not require his brain to work up an excuse for his body to act on.

Advanced Casting

Oliver within second year met his worst of bullying encounters when he got involved with Erin Ryan. Many days Oliver would hide in corridors or enter classrooms just so she wouldn't see him. One time he got permission to leave class to the bathroom and on his way Erin Ryan was walking down the same corridor. She hadn't spotted him as Oliver tends to peak around corridors as a natural instinct by now. He panicked so badly he quickly hurried and jumped out a window, fortunately they were on the first floor. He landed in a wet bush and all the movement and anxiety had caused for Oliver to wet his pants.

Never would this happen again!

Oliver began training tirelessly with dueling. He would practice how to cast effectively for hours a day and would constantly be hurrying off into the grounds on the weekends to fire at rocks and flippendo deadwood far into the lake. Oliver would enjoy focusing on the face of Erin Ryan in his imagination as he cast incendios, it thrilled him to think that some day he'd be approached by a bully and would be able to blast them into the infirmary with ease. He just had to push himself to become the best. With determination, Oliver spends days upon weeks outside casting spells. Through rain and snow, he was always early out of bed. The Ravenclaws boys always wondered where he would disappear to, which he would tell them studying.

Oliver tends to stay back and ask the Charms and Defense Against The Dark Arts his form and wand movements. He gets extra attention on how to perfectly move the wand and always asks for tips and tricks he can add to his dueling style when using these spells. Oliver holds huge respect for these two professors, placing them as two of the most required individuals he needs to sustain a growth to be the best duelist in Hogwarts. Oliver can be annoying in this way, asking about the smallest of details or questions that professors have never even thought of as the detail is so minuscule.

Overall, Oliver shows pride in his magic. He's not anxious to cast before others and by the end of his second year, he has begun drawing his wand on others when bullying occurs. He is reluctant to actually hit students with spells, knowing that they will just collectively get him when he's not looking for revenge. Oliver just wants to hold his ground and be left alone. Unfortunately, he has to work hard just to survive in the school.

Name of Ability or Race that you Are Applying for: Dhampir
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): [500 words for a race, 400 words for an ability, please include word count.
Kaegen was raised in a swamp he called the fens, full of magic, and death, and creatures vile and deadly. He only survived due to the questionable help of a surly old house elf he called his grandfather. Kaegen was raised with a twisted set of morals, a worldview that had never done him any favors, and the knowledge that the whole world was just like his swamp, only much worse, and far more devious.

Kaegen's mother was a vampire, one of the most powerful of the vampires of the taiga. She could cast no magic herself, but would gather magical artifacts that aided her, slowly growing in power and cunning, until one day a wizard stepped forth, and fought her to a standstill. They fought for days before both giving in, and decided to form an alliance. A compromise, so both the vampire and the wizard would get what they wanted. And from that compromise was born a child.

The child was sent away hardly a week later, for a reason known only to a few. His existence had caused an end to vampire related bloodshed and strife across the frozen north, but no one cared. If the wizards weren't fighting vampires, they were fighting something else. The alliance meant almost nothing, and within a year, fighting had resumed. But the boy was still alive, and many men wanted him dead, just to spite his mother, to spit on her face without having to challenge her. It was a useless quest, his mother did not care for her child. He was nothing more than a trophy that she only needed to exist for a week, and had then discarded.

But still, he had to hide. And so he was taken in by his nurse, a house elf who was not in his right mind. And so he was raised for years in a hidden swamp, a secret hiding place that was not to be found on any map. And there he stayed until he received his letter from hogwarts. Kaegen's physical appearance is that of a dhampir, because, after all, I've been rping him as a dhampir for the past 3 years

As for mannerisms, personality, etc. I would adapt this to fit the dhampir race by changing nothing, and instead continuing to rp him as I have been. His skin is a sickly shade of corpse whitish grey, the approximate shade of a wet, diseased wonton wrapper. His eyes have central heterochromia, being mostly a stormy blue, with a ring of bright red circling the pupils themselves. Kaegen thinks of himself as a predator, and acts like one as best he can, preying on those weaker than him, while avoiding and plotting against those that are stronger.

He usually reacts based on instinct, or some form of backwards logic. He dresses odd, and in any room, Kaegen is usually the scariest thing there. He only recently, in the last year, discovered what he is, having assumed that all of his abnormalities were universal, and just slightly more pronounced in his case.
Ability: Terrifying presence
Kaegen is scary. His reputation as a heartless monster echoes throughout the school. He has been in hogwarts for 2 years, going on his third, and nothing but bad has ever been said about him. An ex prefect, he was fired for assaulting students, and then later brought 4 of them near to death. His eyes are cold, and tired, and stand out against the whitish, sickly grey of a skin that belongs not to a little boy, but to a corpse.

Even the way he walks is not regular, not quite human. He was raised on the marshy wet swamp called the fens, where you had to be sure footed to survive. And so sure footed he is, subconsciously expecting every floor tile to sink into a black mire that he has not quite realized isn't there. Kaegen's life and purpose was recently shredded, the one person he thought of as a friend revealed to be anything but. Slowly, his fear is draining away to make room for a billowing, tangible hate that seems to reach out into everything nearby, and suck the joy and life out of them.

Kaegen does not know how to exist without a purpose, and without one, he clings on to whatever emotion helps him not think about it. He has no problems with killing, and never has, having been raised with a decided lack of a moral code. This lack of understanding for humanity only helps amplify his already terrifying presence. That, coupled with the fact that he is half monster, makes him perhaps the most terrifying 13 year old in Hogwarts.

Everywhere he looks, he sees nothing but darkness and evil, and he often reflects that, or feels as though he has to reflect that. You fight fire with fire, tooth with tooth. Unless there is something stronger than evil out there, which, to him, is ridiculous, he feels no need to not turn into his enemy, so long as that will help him defeat them. Rules that do not align with his own set of values, tangled up in names that mean nothing, but to him mean everything, are discarded as worthless. Rules are mostly just there to slow him down, or stop him from living to see another day, and Kaegen knows it.

He plans to kill death, to kill the dark places. Kill the professors, and all the students who he has labelled a "death witch." Kaegen is not in his right mind, or any right mind, is hurt and scared and furious and all of that combined makes for a very scary little boy.

Name of Ability or Race that you Are Applying for: Animagus - Cat - Grey eyebrows as distinctive feature.
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): Sebas is a pure blood wizard with a long history of magic in his family of various specialties. His time at Hogwarts taught him that being unnoticed at times was more valuable than any spell. Turning into a cat was the perfect way to escape notice and go study alone or get into trouble. As a mischievious wizard, this fits Sebastián perfectly. (purrrr-fectly?). Someone's pet cat spilling ink on a rival's homework could not be blamed on innocent Sebastián. Convincing other cats to help him prank students was always the most fun.

By the time Sebas graduated, many knew that whenever a cat was involved in mischief, they should blame the Spaniard. His career as a Curse-breaker was ideal for a cat animagus as well. Being able to slip in and out gracefully came in handy more than once. Gringott's bank favored him as the one to get the job done in tight spaces because of this ability. It also came in handy when trying not to be seen among muggles. He could simply become a cat instead of trying to dress differently. No one questioned a cute cat with a bow tie walking around like they did someone in full wizard robes.

Once Sebas became a professor at Hogwarts, though, the true fit became evident. Mischievous Professor Cazarez loved to trick his students and fellow staff. Much like Mrs Norris of the past, Cazarez roamed the halls and could catch students being out late or being somewhere restricted. Cats truly make the best spies and as a sneaky slytherin graduate, he was in heaven. Various issues plagued Sebas' life after taking positions at Hogwarts, but he always loved his time there the most. As a cat he could watch the school, prank people, and walk among them just like before.

Sebas as an animagus makes a lot of sense based on who he is and what his "roles" have been/will be. He also has no other "special abilities" or races right now, so nothing is in the way or overpowered. Not that he is going to be fighting people most likely.

His mother, Tiresias, a beautiful Greek woman, she looks like a Greek god, but with her pale skin tone and gorgeous natural white hair. But her eyes were what people tend to focus on, her dreamy pale blue eyes. She’s from the Galanis bloodline, a pureblood family.

A Galanis is sometimes born with poor or no eyesight. But it doesn’t stop the Galanis to become a powerful wizard family, almost every member of the Galanis family have some role in Greek’s Ministry of Magic. The Galanis bloodline is rumored to be the descendants of Mopsus, people say that they’re Seer, using their power to predict the future. The Galanis ignored the rumors without confirmation

Tiresias was a squib, she was a disgrace to Galanis, a pureblood family. They despite her, but had to keep her in the manor to hide the poor girl from the eyes of the magical community.

The old house-elf was supposed to watch Tiresias, keeping her from running away from Galanis manor. But Rhea took pity on Tiresias, 25 years of Tiresias’s life, not allowed to be free. Rhea had lied to the other Galanises that Tiresias was ill. After a year, Rhea declared her death. The Galanis buried her fake body in their family graveyard without a tombstone.

She met the English man named Anthony Edel in on her way to Albania, he was a traveler who travels around the world to study wizard culture around the world, she introduced herself to him as Cecilia. The usual story, they met, talked and travel together for a while. And Anthony knew that he wouldn’t be able to travel again, not without this woman in his life. Anthony asked her to travel with him. Tiresias loved him too, she said yes even before he’s done talking!

The couple traveled around the world.Five years later, they traveled back to England to get married. Finally, settle down their life to live peacefully in a small town. They were waiting for their baby boy, Anthony chose a godmother for their child, the trustworthy godmother is a friend of him. They had decided to have to baby in a Muggle hospital so that Tiresias and her baby would be safe from the Magical community

But the night that the baby boy was born, Tiresias’s grandmother, an infamous prophets , had a vision about Tiresias with her husband Anthony Edel at the Muggle hospital.Tiresias’s siblings go to England on that very night to find Tiresias. Tiresias’s brother, Ambrose found Tiresias’s place and tried to bring her back home, Anthony tried his best to fight back Ambrose and protect the Muggles at the hospital. In the blinding anger, Ambrose accidentally hit the oxygen tank in the hospital, causing it to explode, Ambrose was safe as he used protege to protect himself, Ambrose fleed the scene right the moment he saw his sister lying dead, Tiresias didn’t make it, Anthony used the last of his strength to cast protego to protect their baby boy.

The baby’s godmother was there at the hospital after the explosion, she went to the baby that the Muggles just found alive, miracle unharmed by the explosion. He was being examined by the Muggle doctor, the godmother looked at the baby’s clouded eyes and then casually give the baby a silver necklace with the name Cecilia carved into the metal. The men who were beside her cast a spell on the doctors, made them think that the necklace was found with the baby all along. That is why he was named Cecilia.
_____________________________________

Many years later, when Cecilia was about 10 years old. He was doing his homework as usual, his adopted father August was packing his luggage to go to work in London. He was kinda drifting to sleep since it’s pretty late at night when he heard a big crash, he didn’t know why, but he knew that it was a car crash, and he heard a painful grunt, August, he knew it was his father.
Cecilia fell from his chair with a big thud that alerted his father, August immediately go to Cecilia’s room
“Cece! Are you alright?”
“I’m fine” He spoke as he felt a chill down his spine “Are you okay, pops?” He asked with an urgent tone, he remember dreaming something, something crashing..., but he couldn't remember it now, although it might be very important
“Why do you ask? Uh.. I’m fine” August look at his adopted child as he heard a loud sound coming from his own room, his luggage probably fell from the table again “I’ll back to my room, if you need anything, just call, okay”
“Okay” Cecilia answered with uncertainty in his voice.
2 days later, Cecilia was told by Lucas, that his father August, got into a car crash in London.

Name of Ability or Race that you Are Applying for:
Part-Veela
Describe why this fits your character:

From as long as Charlotte can remember, she was always told she was special. She had never really thought anything of it, convinced it was of those mundane things parents told their kids. Even though she wasn't exactly wrong, her mother had been telling her this for a very particular reason, not because she was a witch, which was already pretty special, but because she was a Veela. 1/4 Veela to be exact.

Charlotte had never really understood this term until she came across a very interesting book, written in French, that explained everything there was to know about this peculiar humanoid creature. A few years later, her mother finally took the decision to tell her daughters about their legacy.

Euphrasie La Cour, Ambérine's mother, and Charlotte's grandmother had always been the type of girl you noticed as soon as she entered a room. She golden-white hair flowing behind her, her pale skin gleaming under the slightest light and her piercing blue eyes. All eyes were constantly on her. Much to her advantage, she seemed to mesmerized all the men to do her bidding, or simply offer their company for the night.

Euphrasie had come from a long line of pure-blooded Veelas, living in France for as long as they could all remember. They used their magic to their advantage, getting everyone under their power, constantly obeying the women of their family. Unlike her other sisters, Euphrasie did the unthinkable and fell in love with a wizard. It was the first time she fell in love, the first time any men had some genuine feelings for her. They got married a few months following their first dance, secretly. Her family only realized this unpure marriage five years later when Euphrasie gave birth to her firstborn, Ambérine.

Just like her mother, Ambérine's skin was pearl-white and glowing, her white-golden hair adding to her enchanted demeanour and her eyes were the most interesting thing about her. Her left eye was of a deep blue colour, while her right eye was of a dark chocolate colour like her father. In addition to her mesmerizing beauty, her eyes seemed to spark the most interest amongst her classmates and friends.

For marrying a wizard, Euphrasie was disowned from her family, left to live alone with her husband in the outskirts of Paris with her growing family. Veelas having their own sort of magic, that did not require a wand, she was amazed to see her husband use this stick of wood to control his magic with spells and incantation and hoped her daughters would be able to control magic both ways.

Ambérine, her daughter, managed to master both types of magic, much to the delight of her parents and the amazement of her professors. At the age of eleven, she left her house to attend the Beauxbâtons Academy of Magic in the south of France where she met several of her friends that remain close to this day.

After seven long years, she travelled to London where she met the love of her life, Marius Cadunt, a Hogwarts graduate. A few years later, they got married in Paris before the birth of their first daughter, Charlotte Euphrasie Apolline Cadunt. Her skin was identical to her mother's and grandmother's but her hair and eyes were of a deep brown colour, much to the surprise of her mother.

From very early on Charlotte seemed to be mesmerizing her classmates involuntarily, much to her teacher's disapproval. As she grew older, she managed to control it, using it only when absolutely necessary. She still was constantly offered company by the boys of her class that she accepted enthusiastically. All that is left to know is if she was going to be able to muster some kind of Veela magic (which seems very unlikely)...

Year One

Name of Ability or Race that you Are Applying for: Advanced Casting
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): Elena has found a passion for studying especially in practical lessons which she enjoys especially as she never had many hobbies growing up due to her restrictive upbringing. Upon arriving at Hogwarts, she naturally found herself began to enjoy the ability and power to be able to produce magic of her own as a sort of passion and is a eager and curious indvidual always seeking to learn more spells or utilize those which she has learned whenever the situation calls for it. As such, the girl takes a passion in immersing herself in lessons and books that involve spells or magic of any kind and doing her best to learn them to the best of her ability. Though, the start can be rough when she is grasping a new spell to learn, the desire to perform it without a hint of error is strong in her and she will refuse to give up practicing the incantation over and over again until she is confident in her ability such as in Professor Risa's History of Magic class when they were being taught the Bubble-Producing charm. She had jumbled up the incantation once but after a couple of tries, success graced her. The girl also aspires to be an Auror after graduation which is why she places so much emphasis on her spellwork skills considering the nature and risk of the work she will be undertaking. Success on casting a spell usually gives her a boost in confidence and after repeated uses, she is able to perform most of her magic almost second-nature which she attributes to her long hours in the library and practices quickly picking up methods and ways to handle the spells effectively.  As a young child with parents who sympathized with all the potential for dark magic that a wizard could do, Elena uses this as a strong motivation to help strengthen herself personally so when the time comes, the Gryffindor will be able to confront them for who they really are building herself up on her own skill and effort.  The idea of being able to manipulate the world around her through the use of magic is an enjoyable one to her and one she sees with the potential to do good with and as such will dedicate all her effort and time needed to help better her own life and the lives of those around her.  This is displayed when she attempted to use the Dancing Feet Spell during the cabin incident at the Blossom Ball to aid a student in distress though the effect of the spell was not what she anticipated, Elena has the mental willingness to reflect and hone her skills using what errors she saw in a previous situation to better adapt and prepare for incidents.

Name of Ability or Race that you Are Applying for: Lovely Creature
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): Though unlikely to start a conversation and usually keeps to herself, there is a hidden beauty about the female that causes people to pay attention to her. Her eyes are one of the most striking features while they are a regular shade of black, there is a certain shine or sparkle around them that makes it hard not to look away when she is making eye contact with them. Her features are fair and smooth and with black hair that falls down to her shoulders with a certain glossy effect to them. When she speaks, that is one of the major things that most people tend to notice about her and that is her tone. She speaks in this usually soft, light tone that gives people a feeling of ease or relaxation as they talk to her. The girl's smile is a set of glistening white teeth and one can see the happiness expressed in her features which to also, she has a slight blush to her cheeks which is noticeable as she progresses through the years. The fabrics she wears at celebrations and formal events are usually of beautiful nature as well opting to go for dresses usually bright in color or something dark with a corresponding lighter shade of color to illuminate it. Her skin is a fair and lightened tan and smooth to the touch. Elena does not seem to comprehend or realize her natural beauty which progresses as her time at Hogwarts goes on but others seem to pay attention as she goes about her buisness and there is a sense of peace and happiness that surrounds the female displayed in those sparkling eyes. Some people tend to refer to her by often feminine nicknames perhaps teasing her slighty about her features as referring to her beauty. Her prettiness sometimes cause people to not take her seriously and doubt her which in turn angers the girl but the mention of these remarks and the turning of heads makes her wonder about herself personally. While the girl may refuse to accept her own image of her beauty, others see a person whom they find extremely hard to ignore regardless of the situation. Sometimes when the situation calls for it, the girl will use her features to sometimes influence someone into performing a certain task or deed though this is rare for her to do, she may deny the expression of herself at face-level but is sub-conciously aware that her features do tend to have a impact on whomever is interacting with her.

First Year: Poison Resistance
After relocating to a brand-new home during spring break of her first year, her home underwent many renovations including a garden and a basement that hid underneath the foundation, but it was difficult to hide a prominent secret from her, especially since not every aspect had been camouflaged. It was rather obvious, only two days after moving to the new home, Emma could detect soft fragrances coming from packed bookshelves that covered a concealed staircase activated by the Arithmancy book, Numerology and Grammatica; no one dared to put their hands on that book unless those people were the children of the household, including herself.

On the fourth day of spring break, she eventually found her way into the room and before she could find what she was looking for, a grand spiraling staircase caught her eye. The spiral twisted up and down but only one opening had been visible, and that pointed directly to the cellars. The brunette was no stranger to sneaking around, she had no business being down there; it was essentially like an office packed with critical files. Unlike the basements in horror movies, it was a striking sight to see. A cupboard of spices and diced components lined perfectly and a separate pantry supplied with larger ingredients that needed to be chopped. Magic already had it covered; knifes minced and pulverized flower petals into mud.

At least there were a few good things in the room, it balanced the scales along with the aroma that caught her by surprise. Some were pleasant, but that was if she happened to get lucky. As if wandering into a fragrance store, she couldn't decipher if the smells emitting from the cauldron were pleasant or an annoyance entirely. One thing was for sure, however, the scents didn't take long to affect her. Whatever the mysterious family member brewed, it had an effect on her, and not just mentally. Emma has experienced different symptoms each visit like loss of coordination and immediate bursts of energy to something more unusual like her voice elevating at every word and inflicting slight pain in her head.

Finally, a few days before spring break ended, Emma was drawn down to discover the brewer of these potions or even poisons and to no surprise, it was one of her family members, but the side effects towards every potion was rather suspicious. It was unlike anything she'd ever heard of, but that wasn't saying much. Her discoveries were definitely something to keep to herself.

During the time no one sat in the basement brewing, she tried out these creations. The aroma of valerian and honeywater overbearing strong like a bottle of cologne. Sure, it wasn't the brightest idea, but she was only eleven and what harm could a small sip do to her? It wasn't exactly like she could remember anyway. After pounding headaches, she wasn't expected to.

Spring break wasn't the only time Emma got to sit around and witness the potions in the process of being concocted. During the summer, she plodded into the cellars every other night to ensure proper health alongside her older cousin. These midnight trips would often end up in her mysteriously awakening in bed, or leaving before she could pass out and give away her location. Even if it was destroying her immune system, or possibly even benefitting it, she found it interesting to learn about potions she couldn't learn in class. Her focus wasn't on potions, however. Maybe it was the benefits that would help her in the future, both for at Hogwarts and at home.

Second Year: Binding Mark
The bad side of Emma can quickly be summed up into a few words. Obstinate, deceiving and pestering, but her good side also has its perks. Dependable, protecting, and organized depending on the occasion like organizing her interview logs from her homework essays. All these attributes have an effect on the use of the binding mark whether it be to talk to her friends in class or to communicate with her team on the Quidditch field. Second year is the year Emma met lots of people, it is only right to stay in touch with them even if that means breaking a school rule and doing it anyway. Emma has shown that the rules mean nothing to her with the appropriate people and that's not necessarily a bad thing. She has found ways to override those rules and get away with certain things, even if that meant breaking another rule along the way.

Emma has been called both modest, arrogant, and perhaps a bit talkative now that she has found her place in Hogwarts. Modest towards her friends and arrogant towards those she doesn't quite appeal to. She'll lie, but only to protect herself, family or her friends, most of the time protecting her friends' emotional state, but occasionally, it isn't rare for the young girl to become caught in those lies.

While being in Ravenclaw does have its stereotypes, this one loves to chat during classes with her friends, even if that means risking it and receiving a verbal warning from the professor and maybe even detention. She is often seen whispering and passing notes to students that sit four chairs away from her, but she still manages to get it done, getting caught every so often. No matter, it's never stopped her before and it's not going to now.

Emma is seen as a protective, almost over-bearing sister. The thought of something terrible happening like an attack on someone she loved would be something she never forgot or forgave herself for; she'll always find a way to make it her fault. She wants nothing bad to happen to anyone she loves. Keeping track of all of her close friends can be a hassle, but she can find a way to manage, even if that means having a bunch of thoughts constantly swarming around in her head. If it's to keep her friends safe, it is surely worth it.

Third Year: Prodigal Transfiguration Learner
Emma has always been an enthusiast of transfiguration since the moment she arrived at Hogwarts. There aren't many subjects that have the ability to catch her attention, but transfiguration happens to be one of them and she's tried vigorously to play to her strengths and worrying only about herself. It didn't matter that other students were excelling in subjects she couldn't. You could say this was an internal competition for Emma and her ambition to do well in school. With determination unlike herself, she pushed herself to do the best she could in her favorite subject to perfect her almost flawless marks.

Transfiguration is a subject of math, physics, and statistics. It is said that in order to master a spell, one must work hours if not days to get a spell right, it unquestionably doesn't come on the first try. After years at her former elementary school, she fought hard to attain her grades and transferred with an almost perfect grade point average. Art and social studies were some of her despised subjects, for she ended the school year with the grade of a 'B'. As a child, Emma outshined in the mathematical and scientific department of learning, setting her up perfectly to learn Transfiguration in her years at Hogwarts.

Abraham Hill outdid himself in transfiguration and DADA as a third year and still does to this day. If there's one family member who has outshone Emma in the subject it is him, and it makes her question why he was placed in Gryffindor with grades that make her somewhat skeptical. With a not-so-busy life, he decided to pass on his old textbooks to his family and go from there. He cherished the feeling of authorization it gave him to tell his family to write something down or to give them flunking grades when the occasion called for it. Being the only 'adult' in the house, the seventeen-year-old often held contests between both Emma and Kiyana to see which one had to do the punishment for losing, or as he put it, for being unprepared. It was a sly way to get one other to do each other's tasks and this only propelled Emma to unlock the potential she had with the subject. She wasn't going to give up now, she had already discovered so much from him. Plus, she did not want to be discovered doing Saturday night chores throughout the entire house.

Ever since the end of her second year, she took the liberty of asking her older cousin for help in the works of transfiguration, for he was the only one around during the summer time. Her father was away touring the world as his job, her younger cousin often looked up to her for help, her grandparents were back in Puerto Rico for good and her uncle often spent his time focusing on potions and remedies instead of spells, therefore, providing no help to Emma whatsoever. Utilizing her cousin's old textbooks, she frequently read them and attempted the spells in his presence to guarantee nothing went wrong when she experimented these spells on miniature objects. Expanding their bond together, Emma was often tested by him every Friday with Kiyana as if being homeschooled. She was told to memorize the entire runic alphabet, the laws, and spells that belonged to the four departments of the subject and sure enough, her practice paid off and after two weeks of written exams, she was able to cast her first spell without the help of Hogwarts, sort of.

With newly found ambition, she set out to not only make her father proud but also Abraham. There was no way she could turn back now.

Name of Ability that you Are Applying for: Perfectionist
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it): [400 words for an ability, please include word count]
Hengist Warbeck grew up with a huge amount of curiosity. He had to look into everything he could to try to figure out how it worked. He got his hands on as much muggle technology as he could and took it apart to see if he could figure out how it worked. His parents had to go as far as keeping any magical books away from him because he would try any spells or potions that were in them. Every failure he came across only deepened his need to learn. These failures also cultivated in him the necessity to pay attention to details.

One failure, in particular, is a constant reminder to Hengist. As I said before, he was not allowed access to magical books with spells or potions instructions. Well, when he was 6, he had found a book of potions and decided to try one. Because he was so young and inexperienced, he was rushing and didn't read ahead. Of course he did something he should not have and badly burned his hand, leaving a scar. This painful lesson hammered in him that magic can be very dangerous if handled incorrectly. From then on, he made a promise to himself to not be in such a rush or be so reckless.

Ever since his arrival to Hogwarts, he's gone through school with that same mindset. Every homework that he's done that contains a spell, he's double and triple checked every aspect of the spell/spells involved. From it's pronunciation to wand movement, even to it's history. Only once he fully understood the spell forwards and backwards would he attempt to cast it. The same goes for any potions that he had to learn. He would first read the instructions at least twice, and the ingredients and their amounts even more than that to make sure he understood everything about it before he even started to brew. Hengist can't NOT want to know how and why something works.

Basically, the mindset I've created my character in would be a mix of Sherlock Holmes and a male Hermione Granger. I think one thing can be said about both of these characters is not only do they both place a deep value on learning, also they both pay attention to the details to the point of perfection. With all that being said, I would argue that the Perfectionist ability for my character would be nothing short of...perfection. (405 words)

Race Applying For: Metamorphmagus
Reducio
Cecily's grandmother was perpetual in a one-woman state of war against the wizarding world, as she so often made clear. What Aoibhín O’Shea mentioned quite less frequently--or rather, never-- however, was her strange and not-so-muggle history.

Aoibhín was born a witch to muggle Keenan O'Shea and witch Lillian Coleman. Lillian has been open with Keenan, so he was aware of Lillian's magical abilities-- although she had neglected to mention her talents as a metamorphmagus. However, when Aoibhín was nine years old, Lillian was killed in a magical incident, although neither of the surviving O'Sheas were ever given the details of the fatal event.

Aoibhín took multiple years to recover from the tragedy, having been extremely close with her mother. However, her father never fully recovered. After sinking into an unhealthy depression for two years, his sadness turned into a passionate rage towards the wizarding community, as he held them responsible for the death of his love. Aoibhín managed to attend  Hogwarts as a young witch for two years before her father packed up and moved the two of them far away from any sort of magic. He forced her to remain with him, and she eventually renounced the life-- partially to stay on good terms with her remaining family, and partially as she feared the wrath of her father.

Aoibhín eventually grew older under her father's close watch and learned to hate the magical world that had supposedly killed her mother. But even under Keenan's close watch, the renounced witch harbored a secret courtship and marriage to Aengus Quinn, who was a wizard, but neglected to tell his wife. When she found out about his link to the wizards, she was furious. Regardless, she stayed with him for reasons she still refuses to say, although it's assumed it was to raise their child, even though their baby boy was also a wizard. She eventually had grandkids, one of whom was Cecily.

Cecily was a calm child: she barely ever cried or threw a temper tantrum, and clear symptoms of the metamorph gene only began to surface when she was older; although, if one looked closely, they may have noticed a slight growth and point to her fingernails during a heated argument, or a greenish tinge to her hair when she was sick. just before her eighth birthday, signs began to become more pronounced, though her family wrote them off as simply being spontaneous signs of her magic. However, Cecily was suspicious of the sorts of magical signs she was exhibiting, and turned to her favorite resource: books. She read books on all sorts of magic, from genetic hexes to shapeshifters, and, after some experiments of her own, deduced that she had inhereted the metamorphmagus gene--although she never did find out from whom she received it. Nonetheless, her discovery excited her-- not only would it be good for pranks on her (albeit few) friends, it would also finally be something to set her apart from everyone around her, something to make her not quite so average.

Since she discovered her abilities, she proceeded to read as much as possible about her race. Over time, she slowly learned how to control her abilities, and became somewhat adept at changing her hair color, eye color, fingernails, and more. Though she has a considerably decent control over her changes, small features still tend to show or shift during times of high emotion, such as fights or stressful tests.
Y2 Ability: Sixth Sense
Reducio
Cecily was always a quiet baby. She never cried, never threw a tantrum. As she got older, she became a quiet child. She preferred books over conversations, listening over talking. Her father was the same way. He was a quiet man, spoke only when it improved the silence. He taught Cecily that words weren't necessary to convey a presence in the room, or to comfort a friend or family member. But when they would go on walks through the moors, Cecily would wonder at how he noticed the smallest details: a small bird, or a field mouse, or a four-leaf clover half-buried beneath wind-swept grasses. She aspired to someday be as attentive as him, as in-tune with the environment around him.

And so she began to close her mouth more often, to raise her eyes from her books. She watched the world as it went by, rather than be wrapped up in herself. She explored the moors, playing a game with herself to see how many small creatures she could find hiding in the grass, or how many wildflowers she could count. She learned patience, and observation.

These habits did not die when she arrived at Hogwarts. When other students spent their free periods talking with their friends, she would spend much of her days in solitude, either nestled in between roots of a big tree on the grounds or curled up in a plush chair in the common room. The quiet girl would just people-watch, observe students walking by, listen in on snippets of conversations all around her. She heard all of the whispers in the corridors, silently making her way to her classes. She always noticed the smallest things in the world around her. She would notice the slight difference between twins, or the first changed leaf of autumn. She heard every passed note in class, every giggle behind the professor's back.

In a way, observation was empowering. She knew secrets whispered between dormmates, she noticed students slinking through shadows while she was on patrol. It helped her do her job more efficiently and accurately. But it wasn't just that. Somehow, it helped the girl feel closer to home, closer to her father. Every time she noticed something small, something out of sight, she felt like she was making her father proud. She admired her father, for sure, and every day she felt like she was becoming a little more like him, a little closer to embodying the strong-and-silent, but somehow comforting, presence Sean Quinn brought into every room.
