History/Background Story:
Lilias Stirling and Finlay Morrigan met at Hogwarts, they were in the same year and house, they knew each other through their time at the school and they hated each other. It was as if they couldn't be in the same room with one another without starting a fight. The summer ball their 7th year was a catalyst for their relationship. Lilias had been asked to go by someone else Finlay had just split from his girlfriend and was happy to be going alone. As Lilias danced with her partner his hands started to wonder, she was not too happy with the idea, the guy was a known letch and she had only accepted his offer because she didn't want to be alone.
Finlay stood by the buffet table watching the dancing when he noticed Lilias practically dragged outside by this guy. Without a second thought he gave chase, landing a right hook on the guy as Lilias was giving a left to him, the guy fell to Finlay's punch as he fell to Lilias's. She stood over him, a bemused look on her face before helping him up. From that moment on anger turned to passion.
Within two months Lilias was expecting, both families wanted to hide the pregnancy for the sake of their both reputations. Since they were both young and stubborn they dug their heels in marrying before Moray was born, Lilias carried on the tradition naming her daughter after her family name, hoping Moray would do the same in the future.
With help from their families, Lilias and Finlay started their lives, Lilias found her passion for writing increasing, at every opportunity she would disappear for the latest story. Finlay stayed at home, looking after Moray and working his ministry job slowly clawing his way up the ladder essentially as a single father.
Moray had a fairly normal childhood, she was treated like a princess by both sides of her family, but there was one person who kept her at a distance. Her mother was never really a part of her life, she would drop in between stories but there was no connection there, she was just the woman who would show up every so often, hand her a trinket from some land and leave. Her father did his best to keep her from seeing how unhappy he was, but she saw the anger on his face when her mother would show up, and she would hear the fights through the walls.
As she got older she stayed longer at her grandparent's house, until she ended up moving with her father to Scotland spending most of her time with her extended family. Her first 'real' magical experience happened when she was 6 years old, on the rare occasion her mother was home she had placed a plate of food in front of her, without physically touching it the plate flew off the table. Moray saw the plate fly and bolted for the door, she was found a few hours later in the local playpark by her father, he wasn't angry just concerned.
