Story

The Early Days

During his troubled youth Thomas was shielded from his true family history. The name, Lestrange and who it represented meant very little to him. Some assumed he was the offspring of the notorious Bellatrix. This was false. His father’s family shared no relation to the devilish woman.

In order to understand Thomas, you must start with his father. Alder Lestrange moved to the countryside after his time at Hogwarts and settled down with a muggle. The group of degenerates assigned to recruit Alder to their ranks felt spited by his decision. When Alder consummated his marriage and Thomas was born, they were ordered to kill Alder for tampering with his pureblood line. Alder fled his family when the news reached him, leaving them with little information about the looming danger.

Alder had a brother, Alfred. Together they devised a plan to fake his death and spare his family. Alfred endangered his own life and joined the foul followers. He convinced them of a shared hatred for his brother, resonating with the idea he resented Alder for having a child with a muggle. They staged a duel in an abandoned building on the outskirts of London. Alfred requested to be alone to finish him off, the accompanying the group refused and set the building to flames. Alfred fled with the followers to maintain his cover. Alder died from smoke inhalation before he could reach the portkey Alfred planted to help him escape. Alfred went into hiding after the fall of the dark lord several years later, Thomas has yet to meet him.

For index: ^None of this actually happened, all part of the twist. Thomas’ father is alive and well and simply left him after the heavy guilt from family for tampering with the pure blood line and marrying a muggle woman. He left Thomas and his mother at age two and remarried. The boy would not meet him until the summer of 2022 where parties came together in forgiveness with the intention to restore a relationship. The story of his father’s death was planted by his mother, who feared how the boy would cope knowing his father didn’t want him. She thought it was better to think he died fighting to protect him.

Thomas grew up withdrawn and angry. His mother placed him on a local ice hockey club during his early development to help channel his anger appropriately. She condemned magic and told Thomas he would not be allowed to attend Hogwarts when he became of age. The root of this decision was due to her fear he would follow in his “late” father's footsteps and learn the truth of his family. Thomas built resentment for his mother over this decision, and began to act out. He got into fights consistently and was thrown off his hockey team at age 10. Thomas began therapy and his mother ultimately decided the environment of Hogwarts may be the safest place for him.

In Thomas' final hockey game, he channeled his anger to lift an opposing players helmet off his head and sent it into the seats. His mother then realized he(like his father) had magical abilities.

While hopeful for a new beginning at Hogwarts, Thomas still has difficulty controlling his anger and acting on those emotions. He vows to avoid the mistakes made by his father, and to be a better person. However, his underlying fear of his reception from other students will sometimes cause him to have a negative outlook
