History/Background Story: Riley was born and raised in the rather small town of Beckermet. Her family had strong roots, as her mother's family had lived in the village for many generations working on the local farm. Her mother was a half-blood while her father was a pure-blood who had been sent to Hogwarts rather than the school in China. They had met while attending Hogwarts, and after getting married, her father had decided to move in with her mother and help maintain the farm.
Because they were in a fairly rural area, Riley had plenty of chances to see magic at use with her parents using it inside and outside of the house and her oldest brother using magic once he turned 17. He is eight years older than her, and her other brother is five years older than her. Riley got along fairly well with them, though as they grew up the age difference really set them apart, especially after her second brother left for Hogwarts. Still, whenever they were home, she often bugged them enough to take her out flying with them, which they would do under the cover of the night by sneaking out of the house.
Riley didn't make many friends outside of her family. She was home schooled by her parents and only played with a few kids who weren't too far from the farm. She liked to play with them, but didn't get to know them too well. When she finally got her letter from Hogwarts, she was most excited about making real friends with other kids (and of course actually being able to use the magic that she saw her parents use all the time).
When she arrived at Hogwarts, Riley was sorted into Hufflepuff, a house she regarded with respect. Of course, she had hoped she would end up in perhaps Ravenclaw or Slytherin, the houses of her mother and father respectively. However, she trusted in the hat, as her parents and brothers had assured her before she got on the Hogwarts Express. She only hoped that she would still be able to match her brothers' talent in her different house and make her parents proud.

Jackelyn (Jac) Jin - Riley's mother. She is an incredibly talented witch who was sorted into Ravenclaw. She often had many dreams of ending up somewhere grand and far from her small but being an only child, she was the only one to take over the farm when her mother eventually passed it down to her. She grew up without a father, who left the family for bigger dreams and adventures. They never heard from him again. Jac resented him for doing so, but she also wondered at times what it would be like to do something other than farm her whole life.
While in school, she took a variety of different classes, wanting to learn as much as she could, even though she knew she wouldn't pursue any careers that would require that education. Still, it's because of those classes that she eventually met and fell in love with Kaiwei, Riley's father. When she took over the farm, he eventually decided to follow her. She changed a lot of the processes, using various magic to make certain jobs more efficient, such as when it came to feeding the animals or planting crops. Though they farm many muggle crops to blend in with the community, they also do a fair bit of farming with magical plants and herbs. Making the majority of their income by selling their products to potion-making companies or individuals with their own private needs.
Though a little strict, she 's still a kind mother, always making time for her children. She's the kind of person who offers opinion, even when it's not asked for, and she's known for her nagging, but she's also the person who comes running whenever you call for her. If you ask her to stop and actually listen, she'll do her best to make sure you feel heard.
Kaiwei (Kai) Jin - Riley's father. He is a wizard who decided to go to Hogwarts rather than the school in his region of China. His parents, involved in the magical politics in China, wanted for him to learn English and attend a school in Britain to raise him as a future diplomat. He was sorted into Slytherin, and he excelled in his academics in order to achieve his goal. Until, however, he met Jac. The two over-achieving students found themselves in similar classes, and eventually decided to pair up to work and excel above their peers. Having been told what to be his whole life, hanging around Jac, who had dreams she couldn't pursue, led him to question what he really wanted for himself.
Eventually, he decided to forsake his parents' plans for him and joined Jac back on her farm. He put to use the skills he gained for politics in order to make connections and sell their crops. Together with Jac, they've been building on their farm, growing crops more efficiently and pulling in more customers.
Out of the pair, he's definitely the more workaholic one. He gets caught up in his head a lot of the time, forgetting to take breaks and pay attention to anything other than his current project. This applies equally to the people around him though. The kids know that when they really want something, you ask him instead of Jac.
Devin Jin - Riley's eldest brother. He's most like his father, charming both in looks and personality. He was sorted in Slytherin as well. After he graduated, he decided to take after his parents, helping around the farm as well as with the customers. He's always been sweet to Riley, never able to resist her sweet smile. Similarly, Riley always listens to Devin, taking everything he says at face value.
Lucas (Luke) Jin - Riley's second eldest brother. He's the mischievous one, always getting into trouble. To be fair though, Devin probably gets into just as much trouble, but Devin's just better at getting out of trouble. He and Riley have a more teasing relationship, usually making fun of each other and challenging each other. Honestly, everyone at home was surprised that he was sorted into Ravenclaw instead of Gryffindor, but it eventually made sense.
Merle Barlow (deceased) - Riley's grandmother. Riley doesn't remember much of her grandmother. Merle died after an accident with a mandrake.
