Thick, dark, Middle-Eastern curls usually worn straight or wavy. Her mother's wide, almond eyes with long eyelashes and well-defined Iranian brows. Skin as fair as snow. Mismatched pair of lips from her father: a thin, pursed upper lip with a plump, pouty lower lip. Tall, with already signs of an hourglass figure. Big hips, broad shoulders. A body ready to be grown into, but for now looks a little clunky.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Feisty, but insecure. Excitable, but stubborn. Curious about her past, interested to see how it may affect her future. Best friends with mother and father, but still feels like she needs to deserve their love. Has trouble reconciling all her identities into one person, wanting to be a respectful Iranian, a powerful witch, a proud Brit, a thoughtful daughter, and a good person all at once. Wants to be great, doesn't know at what yet.

Maryam Hamidi grew up in pre-Revolution Iran, and was sent away by her parents to Germany to escape the Revolution and have a better education and life than would be offered to her at home. Unfortunately, Maryam lost all her family in the fights that ensued during and after the Revolution, thus she devoted her entire life getting the success her family sacrificed their lives for.

After getting her PhD from the University of Cambridge in Mathematics, she came across a strange man named Sirius. Sirius and Maryam bonded over their respective pasts and their love of mathematics—called "Arithmancy" for Sirius—and how this noble field of logic connected both of their worlds. Sirius, a pureblooded wizard from the Sacred Twenty-Eight, lost his first wife, another pureblood, and first child in the Second Wizarding War. After losing his family, Sirius severed ties with the magical world. And this deep depression is what led him to Cambridge, where he overheard a beautiful woman discussing Arithmancy.

Sirius and Maryam both came from troubled pasts yet opposite worlds. They helped each other grow past their grief and regain hope in the future. They fell in love. And from this sweet love, sprung Nova Anahita.

Sirius, coming from a strictly pureblood family and long history in London, didn't want other wizards to recognize his name. He wanted out of all things magic. And he found the perfect solution--to take Maryam's last name. He became Sirius Hamidi, their children would all be Hamidis, and he could finally leave the magical world completely behind. Or so he thought.

Anahita was born in 2007 and was the angel her parents had longed for. All was well for 5 years; Anahita was a giggly toddler, easily picking up mathematics, and her father--now an unemployed muggle--loved to spend every second playing with his daughter. But then in 2012, Anahita turned 5.

Anahita accidentally blew up a football while playing goalkeeper with the neighborhood kids. Sirius realized that there was no escape from the Wizarding World--his angel had inherited his magic. And after swiftly bringing her home, he realized he could dodge her questions of who the rest of her family was no longer. And so, to respect his family's tradition of naming their children after stars and constellations, Anahita was renamed Nova. And despite her new magical abilities and her father's reluctance to reenter his old world, Nova was his brand new star, his very own supernova.

And so Sirius took up a post at St. Mungo's to ever so slowly, expose Nova to his world. However, there were limits. Nova never heard of his past, of his family, of who he was before she was born. Any questions that stretched beyond what a remembrall was or what Skele-Gro is was off limits. Nova had enough questions, but to maintain her loving and close relationship with her father, she respected his wishes and kept her curiosities hidden.

Maryam Hamidi, Mother
Maryam Hamidi first and foremost is a muggle who knew nothing of the magical world until meeting her future husband, Sirius. She grew up in Iran before the Islamic Revolution, but was sent away in 1978 to Berlin, Germany. Her family did not want her to be subject to the new regime and wanted her to be free, but could only afford to send her away, so they unfortunately did not join her and died in the violence that ensued in later years. Maryam never heard from them after leaving for Berlin. In Berlin, she attended boarding school before going to the University of Cambridge to study mathematics. There, she got her PhD in mathematical theory, and during her PhD, met Sirius. Maryam is extremely bonded with her daughter and was disappointed when she showed magical abilities for she knew that her daughter would have to be sent off to a different world. To make up for this, Nova lets Maryam lecture and teach her mathematics during her free time, in an effort to keep the bond alive and well with her mom and still feel connected to the Muggle world. And, Nova's favorite dish is her mother's Tadig, a classic Iranian crunchy fried rice dish. Nova is very upset to be without her Tadig.

Sirius Hamidi, Father
Sirius is pureblood member of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, and was married originally to another witch of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, and they had a child together. However, as far as he knows, both died in the Second Wizarding War--he never heard from them again--and thus fell into a heavy depression with a deep desire to rid himself of all magic. He just happened to be wandering on Cambridge grounds when he met Maryam, and they fell in love instantly. He told her about his wizarding past and asked for her last name in marriage, feeling as he could completely let go of all his wizarding ways. When Nova was born, she was originally just Anahita, but at a young age she began to exhibit magical powers, and thus was renamed Nova, with Anahita becoming her middle name. Sirius chose the name Nova because he wanted to honor his family and name her after a star or constellation, and because a nova is the creation of a new star, he thought this would be fitting for his fresh start into the Wizarding World. Nova is his entire world, and they are best friends. However, Nova longs to know what his name was before marrying her mom, to get to know her distant family, but that is the one thing he will never tell her.
