Eva was born on November 3rd, 2006 to Melissa and John Norwood and grew up in the heart of Manchester. Eva's mother, Melissa, is an auror while her father, John, is a dragonologist so Eva grew up immersed in the wizarding world. However, her parents wanted her to have a balanced life and learn as much about the world, both wizarding and Muggle alike, as she possibly could so they signed her up for Muggle school. Eva's parents may be pure-bloods, but they are not a stuck up or old fashioned as some of the other pure-bloods you might meet. They don't care if Eva associates with Muggles or not and are perfectly fine with there being Muggle-born children at Hogwarts. In fact, they've always encouraged Eva to talk to Muggles in order to gain more perspective on life and the world.
Eva's parents have always been big advocates for learning. Her mother was a proud Ravenclaw and had always hoped for her daughter to be sorted into Ravenclaw. In fact, she may have pushed Eva a little to far when it came to learning. One day when Eva was eight, her mother was teaching her about the history of Hogwarts in order to prepare her for school. However, Eva was not in the mood to study that day and kept getting distracted by her father, who was jotting down notes about a new dragon that he had been working with. Melissa noticed Eva glancing over at her father and finally broke. She yelled at Eva about how she should be worrying more about her future schooling than whatever nonsense her father was up to. She then stormed of to her room and left Eva in the family room, crying.
Her father, a quiet Hufflepuff who shared more with creatures than people, walked over to Eva and enveloped her in a huge hug. Slowly, her crying was reduced to mere sniffles. Her father picked her up and carried her over to the kitchen island, where all of his work was laid out. There he started to show her exactly what he did, and it sparked a fire in her that she didn't know she had. She had always done well in her studies, both at Muggle school and at home with wizarding subjects, but this was entirely new. By the time her mother came back downstairs, she was shocked to see Eva happily sitting on her father's lap helping him work. When Eva finally saw her mother, she ran over to her and told her that she was sorry, but she didn't care for the subjects that her mother had tried to teach her. Eva's mother finally accepted the fact that Eva was not going to be a Ravenclaw like her, but was more like her father instead. She finally told Eva that she just wanted her to be happy and didn't care where she ended up in Hogwarts.
Unlike most pure-blood families, Eva did not come from a family that had been in a single House for centuries. Her family came from all of the Houses, so it really didn't matter to them what House she was sorted into. They also didn't care who she associated with at Hogwarts as long as they were kind and truly cared about her. This is also why they didn't care about the Muggle friends she made in school before Hogwarts. In fact, they really liked her best friend Elizabeth, who was a Muggle.
Eva met Elizabeth in primary school at the age of six and they immediately clicked. Elizabeth often noticed strange things that would happen around Eva, especially after someone was mean to either of them. However, she passed them off as coincidence. That is until they were ten.
One day, Elizabeth was over at Eva's house and they were hanging out in her room when Elizabeth needed to go to to the kitchen to get a glass of water. There, she stumbled upon Eva's parents with their wands out. This forced Eva and her parents to tell Elizabeth the truth about themselves, with the promise that she would keep it a secret. Elizabeth promised and was extremely accepting. She wasn't freaked out like Eva thought she would be and she was actually excited for Eva to get to go to Hogwarts.
After Eva finally turned eleven, all she could talk about was Hogwarts. If anyone mentioned something else, she would always manage to turn the conversation back to the subject of Hogwarts and her leaving in less than a year. When her acceptance letter finally came after what felt like decades to Eva, she immediately started bugging her parents about when they could go to Diagon Alley. When they finally set the date, she placed in on her calendar in big red letters exactly like the way she had written down the date that she was leaving for Hogwarts.
When the day to leave for Hogwarts, Eva was practically bouncing off the walls with excitement. She couldn't wait to meet new wizards her age and learn what her House would be. She expected that she would most likely be in Hufflepuff like her father, but she knew that she wouldn't be in Ravenclaw like her mother because she didn't have the interest in schooling like her mother. To Eva's surprise, she was placed in Slytherin, which she never even thought of being placed in. But as she bounced over to the Slytherin table, she realized that it was the perfect House for her. She may be outgoing, bubbly, and love to be with people, but she is also very ambitious. She is very protective of her friends and if anyone wrongs them, she will do whatever it takes to defend them, even if what she does isn't the right thing.
