Demeanour
What most people called polite, Clarke's family had called proper. As far as pureblooded families went, the Laredo's were not the most formal but they had a certain decorum found only in pureblood families. So Clarke had been raised to be "proper" but in many ways he didn't need reminders to treat people with respect and kindness. He's a calm young man, so used to a hectic home life that he's the one who usually calms everything down despite being a 11 year old boy.

This calmness can turn to a controlling behaviour quite quickly if he's not careful. The same hectic atmosphere that inspired a calm facade is also what made Clarke feel like he had to be in control of everything. From what he could tell, growing up had taught him he was the only one who could really be trusted to make sure everything went properly. He was the one reminding his parents when to take him shopping for school supplies, and the one setting his own bed time and curfews. He believes, even when he's being bossy, that he's relatively fair but that can't frustrate just about anyone. It's difficult because Clarke's personality is kind and likable and his bossiness is nothing more than a form of anxiety. But it's usually quite a shock for just about anyone who knows Clarke, to see the easy going and mellow child become anxious and high strung the moment things don't go the way he had planned.

Appearance

Clarke is tall for his age, standing at 5 foot 3 inches already at 11 years old. A slender boy, its also obvious he was built for speed and dexterity and those who knew his father had high hopes that Clarke would follow in his foot steps and be a magnificent athlete as well. It didn't seem far from a possibility, as Clarke spent so much of his free time running around, leaping from rocks, climbing trees, and digging around in tide pools. The activity left his bruised and gave him scars, but Clarke barely registered them as painful or even uncomfortable in the slightest because he was almost always distracted by the world around him.

On top of Clarke's head was wavy warm brown hair that was almost perfectly neat and styled thanks to his mother, always worried about appearances. But Clarke's more active, rugged, life style meant that it was impossible that his hair stayed perfectly neat all the time. There was almost always a hair or two out of place, falling almost charmingly in front of his face. It endlessly annoyed his mother but Clarke never understood why it mattered to her so much. But, as always, to avoid trouble Clarke just went along with what she said.

His eyes matched his hair, a warm brown themselves. It was a deep color with gold and red flecks. When they twinkled in the sunlight it seemed like the irises themselves were moving, swirling around his pupil. They were the eyes he got from his father, and made them look almost identical. It was their warmth that added to Clarke's kind demeanor. If people were so inclined his eyes would soothe them, have them trust him almost immediately. But Clarke always thought little of his eyes, seeing them as just plain boring brown and not noticing the many different colors that swirled around them.

Family

Father - Jeremiah Laredo
Mother - Persephone Laredo

Clarke's family life isn't poor, he knows many people who probably have it a lot worse than he does. Both his mother and father's families are old pure blood families. His father's parents had immigrated from the United States of America a few generations back, but his mother's family was English through and through. The status his parents had allowed Clarke a very easy life and made going to Hogwarts practically a given. He was used to trips to Diagon Alley, had been to more Quidditch World Cups than a standard wizard would see in their lifetime, and had been flying since he could mount a broom and say the command word "up!"

But when he was 7 years old his parents had gotten a divorce, his mother saying she just could not stand the lifestyle his father's work demanded of them. She could not stay home and be the traditional house wife looking over Clarke while his father was off being some sort of Quidditch Rock Star (or so that's what his mother called it). So his parents split. and Clarke had to move out of his child hood house into the new, only slightly smaller house, his mother bought in the same town of Falmouth, Cornwall. He was mostly glad they didn't have to leave, he loved Falmouth it's coast. It was a beautiful town, he truly believed it. And while mainly a muggle town it had a lively Wizarding community that made Clarke feel he had a appropriately balanced upbringing. Clarke found he didn't mind that his parents were divorced. He saw his father about the same amount he always had, since he was always gone on Quidditch business, traveling almost constantly or partying in London. His mother always told him the problem was his father never grew up, and Clarke could see what she meant.

Now with Clarke going to Hogwarts, there's a lot up in the air. With his father wanting him to follow in his foot steps as a Quidditch star, while his mother wanting the exact opposite of that. Clarke feels like his head is on backwards and upside down when he thinks about his future. His parents just interfere too much even when they aren't interfering enough.

Jeremiah Laredo

Jeremiah destined for greatness the moment he stepped into Hogwarts as a 2nd year student. He had been sorted to Slytherin like the rest of everyone else in his family, and that was the year he was going to make the Quidditch team. He was a huge success for the team, one of the best Chasers Slytherin had seen in over a decade.

In his final year at Hogwarts he was recruited by the Falmouth Falcons of the British and Irish Quidditch League. He had hesitated, as offers from other teams started to pour in but eventually decided to accept their offer. The team was doing poorly, but their acquirement of another large Quidditch star had convincer Jeremiah it's where he should go. The Falcons had a long history of being an aggressive and violent team, their most legendary players were known for being suspended for close to half of their careers. But Jeremiah Laredo helped turn around the teams image and soon shot to stardom.

Some may say that stardom is what ultimately what cursed Jeremiah, but he hadn't seen it that way. Even to this day, as his career falters and he remains unmarried and distant from his son, he is happy with his life focusing more on the bars he visits and the friends he has. It seems that the love of Quidditch he had started to have less to do with the sport and more to do with the lifestyle. Deep down he still felt like a teenager at Hogwarts even though it was far from true.

Persephone Laredo

Born a prim and proper witch who was raised to be concerned with reputation and appearances, Persephone was an elegant woman who was a tad vain. Her vanity hadn't made her a bad witch in any extent but it probably played a factor in catching the eye of Jeremiah. She had long, silky, brown hair and always wore the best and more up to date robes. It was her confidence stance and her sharp mind that really pulled people in.

In her years at Hogwarts she was a master at Charms, but never had to worry about work herself. It was the way she wanted it. She had been raised in a traditional household and watched her mother live the life of a stay at home mother and wanted that for herself as well. After the divorce she still never got a job, her parents money and alimony from his husband kept her afloat. But she was more bored than ever, with her husband gone, and her son getting too old to need constant care.

These days, Persephone leads an active and social life. The boredom had gotten too much for her and now she was so busy Clarke felt that she was almost gone as much as his father but she didn't seem to mind. Her days were spent visiting friends, answering owls, and planning parties. She would clean the house herself because she did not trust to hire any help, and she was concerned Clarke would break something priceless and he did not blame her for it.

Persephone was a much more caring parent than Jeremiah. Unlike him, she wasn't stuck in her teenager years. A little absentminded and excitable, she was still a responsible adult, much more than Jeremiah. She was the one Clarke had to go to when he needed anything from dinner to advice. He was inclined to believe her more than his father. However she always wanted him to be a ministry worker and Clarke had no desire to be one of those.

First Instance of Magic

The first time Clarke showed his magic abilities he was a young boy, around 4 years old, too young to even worry about whether or not they'd be coming. He doesn't remember it but he's heard the story so many times there's no way he could forget it. It happened at his grandmothers house, she had given him a piece of candy and his mom dad shown up just as his grandmother placed it in his hands and scolded her. Persephone wagged her finger at her mother and said, "Clarke is too young and he already had enough sweets today, mum."

"But darling," Persephone's mother had said, "He's a little boy, he should be allowed to have a few more treats." But Persephone was hearing nothing of it. In the other room, raucus laughter started and both women, scared to miss out went scurrying into the living room leaving Clarke standing there pouting. He had really wanted those sweets but his grandmother had stuck it on the counter, easily out of reach for him.

So Clarke stretched his hand out and then, all of the sudden, he was on the counter, standing there next to the piece of candy. He was eating it happily when his mother came back in and gasped. His father was right behind her, beaming, "our boys a natural!" He announced and ran to Clarke, lifting him up into the air making the young boy giggle.

Going to hogwarts, Clarke is a little stressed, unsure of what he's going to be good at and not. He's never spent days locked up in a class room and he knows that first years are not allowed their own broom. All he can hope is he doesn't get so antsy that he goes out of his mind. Before he left his dad pulled him aside and told him that all he needed to worry about was flying and charms, that every other class wasn't important. Clarke doubted his mother felt the same way.

At Hogwarts

When Clarke was sorted into Gryffindor he was slightly surprised. He always considered himself a little more on the timid and calm side and grew to believe that Gryffindors were Brash and fearless. Both of his parents had been in Slytherin but Clarke always suspected he was very different from both of them. But Gryffindor felt like a perfect fit when he first stepped into the common room and saw the way the sun poked through the windows. Slytherin didn't get a view of the grounds like this. He felt an excited buzz in his chest as he looked around. This was first step to finding his own identity at Hogwarts.
