Jeronimo Khan, Second Year, Ravenclaw
Full Name: Jeronimo Jae-Suk Khan
House: Ravenclaw
Age: 12
Wand: 25,5 cm, aspen wood, dragon heartstring
School Year: Second Year
Patronus: n/a
Species: Human
Jeronimo is the son of Richard Kang, a Muggle, and Wanda Hope, a reluctant half-blood witch. His mother was always wary of magic, and usually didn't acknowledge her own magical heritage. In fact, she was even attracted to a sweet, sweet man for whom magic wasn't real. Richard never knew about Wanda or the secret world of wizards, as Wanda tried her best to live her life as Muggles do.
As a matter of fact, Richard believed he was the stranger of the two, as a first-generation immigrant in London from Korea. He was a Muggle lawyer, traveling back and forth between London and Seoul when he eventually fell in love with the "quiet woman with loud eyes".
The day that their son Geronimo was born was the happiest day of their lives. Especially since the pair had trouble conceiving.
Geronimo led a normal Muggle life from the moment he was born. He went to primary school in London proper. Almost every summer, Geronimo traveled to Korea to meet his father's family. While he experience some massive culture shock at first, eventually he took the culture in as his own.
However, Wanda couldn't hide her heritage forever. When her son started showing signs of being magical at the age of 7, she revealed the truth - hidden for nearly 10 years - to her husband. It went about as well as you'd expect.
The divorce was messy. Richard Kang is a noble man, and he had sworn to never tell anyone about "the freaky world", so he found difficulty in explaining his motives for divorce. After all, the marriage was great up until the moment he realized Wanda had been lying since the day they met. In the end, despite the fact that he was a lawyer, he lost custody of Jeronimo, mostly because his son, when asked by the judge, casually said he'd rather stay with his mum.
After the divorce, Jeronimo was supposed to visit his dad once a month. That quickly got ridiculous when Richard moved back to Korea. Jeronimo became quickly estranged from his father. This estrangement was not in a hostile or resentful way, which is arguably more salvageable, but a slow distancing.
Since then, Wanda struggled to maintain a balance between fulfilling her responsibility as a parent of a magical child and her mistrust of magic in general. Jeronimo was told background information about Hogwarts and its Houses, as well as the Ministry of Magic and certain basic laws he had to work with. Unlike most children, Jeronimo nervously followed the "no-magic" rule, only accessing his inert magical talent when his mother was nearby and willing.
When he received his letter (a little bit later than expected), his mum packed his bags and he was on his way.
