Carmen was born in Dublin, Ireland. She is the second child of Justine Halloway and Stephen Ó hAilmhic. She has an older brother named Matthew Ó hAilmhic who is three years older than she is. Carmen has an Irish twin, her younger brother Robert who was born ten months after she was born.

At four years old Carmen started Piano. At five she started playing the harp and at six she started playing the violin. She discovered her passion for playing and composing music. She also started to discover the beginnings of her magical abilities.

Her brother Robert had not shown any signs of being a wizard and Carmen's parents started to become scared that he was a squib. They started to disown him as the year finished and Robert had not shown a single sign of magic. Matthew and Carmen though did not distance themselves from Robert in any way after their parents announced to the household that he was a "filthy squib". They did not tell anyone outside the household and even tried to hide Robert's lack of magical abilities from the rest of their family by lying and saying that all of their children had proved to have exceptional magical powers.

But that next year when Carmen and Robert were eight the two were playing piano and Robert accidentally enchanted the piano to play by itself. The two celebrated and their parents finally accepted Robert back into their loving arms.

At nine Carmen started to get interested in the life of muggles. She started to read books about the life of muggles in secret. Though she still viewed them as less important creatures than wizards and witches it did not get rid of her curiosity. Her brother Robert found out about her secret studies but did not tell on her instead encouraged her revealing that he believed that all human-like beings magical or not should be equal.

When Carmen turned eleven and received her letter from Hogwarts she asked her parents if Robert could go to that year. Her parents sent a letter to the Hogwarts headmaster asking if Robert could go to Hogwarts a year early but their request was declined.

Carmen is short for her age and has a slim figure. Her natural hair color is a dark ginger but at the age of eight she started to dye it blonde and at ten she had it permanently dyed blonde and when done permanently done by a wizard they mean permanent. Her long wavy blonde hair goes down to her hips. Her father's side of the family is known for their rare hereditary condition of Heterochromia Iridum. Carmen and Matthew both inherited the trait and have a green right eye and a left blue eye. She has fair pale skin and her face is dotted with freckles that she covers up with makeup. She has natural long curly eyelashes and pale pink lips shaped like a heart like her heart-shaped face. Carmen also has finally gotten rid of her bad nail biting habit she's very proud of getting over the habit.

Carmen and Robert, unlike Matthew, are both introverts and are very shy and don't have any friends except each other. The two are often mistaken for twins because of their same age and close connection. She has very strong opinions but her shy nature keeps her from speaking her opinions.

Carmen dislikes most animals other than cats, she has a like for big cats like leopards, tigers, and lions. She has a wish to have one when she grows older. She loves to read, write poetry, and compose music. She also has a weird love for math.

Carmen hates drawing and writing stories unless the whole story is written in the form of poetry. Carmen especially hates snakes and squirrels and anything athletic. She loves to watch quidditch but hates playing the actual sport.

When she got to Hogwarts Carmen hoped to be put into Slytherin like the rest of her family that ever attended Hogwarts but instead she was put into Ravenclaw. So in a desperation to not get lost she followes Phaedra almost everywhere and is very nervous that she might get annoyed by Carmen. She even chose the same dorm as Phaedra.

Justine Ó hAilmhic

Justine is Carmen's mother whom she is not close with at all. Justine does not love her children and Carmen holds this against her because she feels that she and her brothers need a mother in their life. Despite the fact that Justine does not love her children she has a mutual like for them and wants them to succeed in life. She pushes Carmen very hard to be the best and is the one who made her study so hard before she even got into Hogwarts and train to be very fit and strong. Despite Carmen's grudge against her mother, she has love and respect for her because she is a child and Justine is her mother. Carmen is very wary about her mother though and thinks she might be dangerous and suspects that she was the one who caused Angelica to have her miscarriages.

Stephen Ó hAilmhic

Stephen is Carmen's father and she is much closer to him than she is her mother. Stephen is very strict with Carmen but loves her very much. He devotes time to spend time with her and not just time spent studying like Justine does with Carmen. Stephen believes it is vital to learn to do all possible things without magic before learning to do them with magic which is why Carmen and her siblings have chores just like muggle children.

Angelica Stuart

Carmen see's her father's muggle lover more as a mother than Justine. Angelica lives in the Ó hAilmhic house and her relationship with Stephen is no secret. Unlike Stephen and Justine's loveless marriage Stephen and Angelica love each other and are not just a short time thing which is why Carmen has allowed herself to grow close with Angelica. After some years Carmen started to call Angelica mom but only when Justine was away but then she just started to call her mom anytime, Justine does not care.
Carmen was one of the three people the other being Stephen and Angelica's mother, who comforted Angelica when she had her miscarriages. She had five in total but Carmen was too young to know what happened the first three times, but when she had her last two Carmen did comfort her.
Angelica views all three of the Ó hAilmhic children as her own. She does not discipline as much but is not scared too if the action is serious and Justine and Stephen are not there to correct it. She spends as much time with the children as possible and is the one who teaches Carmen the violin and harp.

Alisa Ó hAilmhic

Alisa is Carmen's paternal grandmother and the two are very close. Carmen used to spend every Saturday at her house before Hogwarts and Leanne would give her, her piano lesson
