Personality: Quiet, shy, reserved, and easily flustered are probably some words classmates would use to him. While they are accurate, if you get to know him, his smile seems infectious, bringing joy to those who bother to stick with him long enough. He's easily influenced by the moods of others and will reflect negative moods in himself if someone around him feels negative emotions. If someone is sad, he'll start feeling down; if someone is anxious, his anxiety flares up; if someone is scared, he becomes frightened; etc, etc. He's a very sensitive boy, and takes jokes or stabs at him to heart. He's very giving though, and sometimes... too giving. Back home, and even now, many people take advantage of his kindness and pushover-like personality. He'll give until he's got nothing left to give, and then still even try to give what he can. It's not a healthy habit, and Lyrell is still working on helping him get over it. He's getting there, though still can't ever say 'no' if asked of something. He's a very innocent-minded person and always finds the best in people, even if they aren't actually really nice at all. He's not very talkative, lacking a lot of confidence in his speaking due to his Russian accent and hard time pronouncing the English language. He can read it just fine, but has a hard time understanding others, and then responding to them. He only seems to freely talk around Lyrell, who understands both English and Russian just fine, and sometimes even acts as a translator for him. (thank god for his amazing sister.) He's still getting used to the language, but he's getting there, give him a bit of time. Despite what people may think of the boy, he's actually quite smart and quick-witted, but again, just never has the confidence to act upon either of these things. On paper, he's a young prodigy. He enjoys the praise Lyrell gives him for his knowledge, and he's always willing to learn more.
Bio: He grew up in Moscow, Russia with his sister, Lyrell- recently graduated at the top of her class, and their father, Devyn Jackson. Their mother had left soon after their middle child's passing at a young age, leaving Devyn to take care of the two on his own. Needless to say, it's wasn't easy. Marco had been born with the same sickness that the middle child had, which terrified the family. This sickness had stunted his growth, but other than that he was fine growing up.
As a child, Marco was actually a bit different than he is now. His personality definitely reflected the more 'Gryffindor' personality that resonated with his family, but that quickly seemed to leave once his mother left. He became more soft-spoken and reserved. This worried Lyrell, as she knew how much he looked up to their mother, she quickly adopted a motherly personality over him. It had always been the two of them side-by-side, and hand-in-hand. She taught him everything he knows up until coming to Hogwarts. She's nervous not being the one in his care, but there's nothing she can do now but hope he does the best he can.
Upon moving to England with Lyrell, he was quickly nervous about his lack of understanding of the English language. Until then, he had only spoken Russian. He didn't know what anyone was saying, and had to- and still kind of does- use Lyrell as a translator as he slowly started trying to learn English. The process was long and quite aggravating for Marco. He had always been a quick learner but just couldn't seem to get used to speaking the Language. It took two years to get to the level of understanding he had now, and even then he's not anywhere near being fluent. He doesn't like speaking, as he feels dumb when he does and gets frustrated with himself easily over it. He has a horrible time expressing the way he feels because of it and quickly became more and more reserved, not willing to talk to anyone until he can learn the language properly. He still regularly practices with Lyrell and is slowly-but-surely getting better at it. That doesn't mean he doesn't forget from time to time though. It's moments like those that really frustrate him. He knows what he's trying to say, and he knows he can say it, but forgets how to. But give him time, and he'll get it. Hopefully.
Upon entering the school, and being sorted, Marco had been hoping greatly to be placed into Gryffindor like Lyrell and the rest of his family had been, you can expect how disappointed he was upon finding out he was Hufflepuff instead. Lyrell wasn't very surprised though and reassured him that all of the houses are amazing, and he should be happy to be a Hufflepuff! He couldn't help but give into his sister's reassuring attitude. She always brought him up when he was down. She really is the best sister a boy could ever ask for.
He struggles with making friends, and often keeps to himself and away from other students, as in not participating in conversations, or going and doing things with a group. Instead, he likes to read. He likes reading to himself to help practice the language. It works surprisingly well. Despite this fear of making friends, he'll actually open up more to those willing to stick with him long enough. He'll be very shy and flustered upon first meeting but will slowly become more friendly over time. His personality would become more relaxed, and his smile is quite infectious. He has a bit of an affinity with understanding other's emotions, even before they can tell him about it, and to his reluctance, many people will come to him about their problems due to how well he can understand them. He isn't fond of it, but can't say no to someone who wants his help. Or really say no in general.
He's still getting used to his life outside of Russia, but once he's able to adjust properly, you may see a new side of the shy boy.
Fears: Attention, conversations, snakes, failure, losing Lyrell.
Flaws: Whoo, where do we begin. Marco's biggest flaw is how impatient he gets with himself. He often expects himself to be good at something on the first few tries, and his self-esteem suffers when he's unable to. He's known to give until he has nothing left to give and becomes disappointed in himself when there is nothing else he can offer. He can't say 'no' to anything and has occasionally gotten in trouble for others.
Talents: Learns quickly, and is able to hold a lot of information at once. He's also a bit of a baker and likes to bake sweets Lyrell has taught him to make from time to time. He likes giving these away to those who are willing to take them.
Likes: Reading, Lyrell, sweets, cats, gardening (even if he's not the best at it), and spending time alone.
Dislikes: Being forced into situations he doesn't want to be in, attention, crowded spaces, presentations, speaking, and hot weather.
Appearance: Due to a sickness in his family when he was a child, Marco's growth had been slightly stunted, only standing at about 4'10". He has a slim figure, but not much muscle. His hair is wavy and a soft grey (an unusual trait that runs through his family) that he usually has held back with clips. His eyes hold a neutral-innocent expression and are a soft green-blue color. His cheeks seem to be a natural soft pink color.
