Benjamin is at his heart, a people pleaser. He likes to be a likeable person with others and someone that people can confide in and trust. Pre - Hogwarts

Backstory
Benjamin (Benji) Addington lives with his father and older brother in a small house in the country-side, just outside of London. They live a cozy lifestyle and do not usually participate in the extravagant activities of some of their higher society friends.
His family is financially sound, though things were not always this way. When Benji was 4, his mother fell ill and passed away. While grieving, his father took on more work where he could get it to help pay the bills and keep the roof over their heads. Due to his mother’s illness, his father had no choice but to abandon a dream of opening a family owned broom shop in Diagon Alley. Instead, his father began working for the ministry of magic, where he quickly rose from a small desk job in the mysterious artifacts department to the head of the department. During this time, Benji’s older brother helped take care of him and looked after him until it was his time to go to Hogwarts. Thomas, three years Benji’s senior, wrote letters to Benji frequently while gone, encouraging his brother to help their father and asked to look after their father to make sure he doesn’t lose himself in his work.
Benji has learned the meaning of hard work through his two living role models and has been instilled with a more conservative and “play it safe” mindset, which at times gets in the way of what it is to be an eleven-year-old boy who takes risks and learns lessons life has to offer the old fashion way. For the past three years, Benji has read letters and head several stories of the enchanting and mysterious place known as Hogwarts and is ready to join his brother and start his first year at the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Meeting Lettie
Benji always looked up to his older brother Thomas, but as older brothers often do, Thomas would sometimes tease and pick on Benji especially when they were younger. One day when he was much younger, Benji was trying to get his brother to spend time with him, but each time Thomas would mock and make fun of Benji’s request before telling him to go play by himself. After the third time, Thomas took the book he was trying to read and went to his room, slamming the door in Benji’s face.
Disappointed, Benji took Thomas’s suggestion to go play by himself. He left the house and began walking down the street towards a nearby pond, where he would sometimes skip rocks with his family. Walking down the street, Benji encountered a girl crying in front of her house. She was right about his age and he wondered why she was so upset. Benji walked over to the girl and asked “what happened? Why are you sad?”. The girl replied, “Because I have nobody to play with”. Benji’s heart dropped and he felt her pain, feeling the same thing from being rejected by his brother in that moment. Benji then smiled at her and knew what to do. Benji lent out his hand to the girl and said “Well, I can play with you! I live just down the street, so my dad won’t be too worried. C’mon, let’s go!”. Benji soon became fast friends with his new pal Lettie. Neither would go a day without someone to play with anymore and they are still best friends to this day.
