Physical Description:
Reducio
Blaise is a little on the tall side, around 1.50 meters tall. However, he doesn't radiate an imposing vibe towards his fellow students.
His body is built slim and athletic, as he is fond of physical activities and games.
His hair is a light brown coffee color. He usually maintains a short hairstyle, letting only a very short bang go over his forehead, which he tends to flip to the side or back anyway.
Blaise is of white British descent, but his skin is suntanned from many outdoor activities and playtimes. He is one of the only in his family who looks like that since most of his relatives, including his twin sister Marina, are more bookish and tend to stay indoors.
His eye color is a distinct piercing laurel and is the main resemblance he shares with the rest of the Linwood lineage.

Mental Description:
Reducio
Blaise is a determined, resourceful boy. He is very eager to prove himself, although he tends to go out of his way to impress and get affirmation from his peers rather than accomplish self-improvement.

History/Background Story:

Reducio
Philomena Linwood is an accomplished Hogwarts graduate and found a steady job almost straight out of Hogwarts as an assistant store manager at Obscurus Books.
A few years later, she meets Jacob Mallory, a young muggle about to enlist into the British air force.
The two grow quite fond of each other and start to spend an increasing amount of time together. Eventually falling in love.
The young couple realized quite early-on they want to spend their lives together, and so Philomena married the young soldier.
One fateful morning in 2009, a knock is heard on the door of The Mallory residence in Shamley Green, followed shortly by the wailing scream of a very pregnant Philomena. She was just told her husband was killed in action during his service in Iraq.

Fast forward to April 23’rd, 2009, Philomena Mallory gives birth to two healthy twins, Blaise and Marina.
The twins first exhibited their magical ability at the age of five, consecutively and within a short period. Marina being the first to do so.
While cuddling and playing with Philomena’s Kneazle - Sabbath, Marina made the poor creature’s fur grow so long and fluffy that Philomena had to use the severing charm to whittle it down before being able to properly cut it with scissors.
A few days later, Blaise turned his mother’s cup of tea into tomato juice. Laughing cheerfully as Philomena spat red all over the kitchen floor.

At first, the twins were inseparable, hanging out together and playing with the same group of muggle kids.
Still, they started to grow apart during their early following years, exhibiting interests in very different hobbies.
Blaise, being more boisterous and outgoing, spent most of his time outside with a group of muggle kids always surrounding him, showing little interest in magic and the wizarding world, while Marina took more to books and had only a few close friends. She spent a lot of time with Philomena and showed an increasing curiosity towards the magical arts. She watched her mother keenly, trying - unsuccessfully - to will the spells and charms she saw her mother perform.

Both kids were educated in the local Shamley Green community. Most living there were muggles, but Blaise knew some magical folk whose kids went to school with him. He tended to stay away from them, as they seemed different and intimidating to him. He preferred to play with the muggle children, playing muggle games, and fitting in with the local muggle community.
Marina, however, befriended a few other magical children and spent most of her socializing with them, away from muggle eyes. As years passed by, Blaise resented her a bit for that.

When Blaise was ten years old, he got into a fight with a muggle boy, Gordy Harper, which he up to this point considered to be his friend, after that same boy called Blaise’s mother a ‘freaky weirdo’ among other more creative insults to his mother and sister, turning the group of kids against Blaise and resulting in a physical altercation between the two.
In his anger, Blaise accidentally made the kid’s neck swell up, causing him to fall down to the ground, gasping for air.
Although it was considered accidental wandless magic, rendering Blaise innocent by default, the incident drew the ministry's attention. This caused a lot of stress to Philomena, who was furious and disappointed at her kid for not controlling himself in the presence of muggles.
That night, while Blaise was crying quietly in his room, distraught and devastated by what happened, the door suddenly started to creak open slowly.
“You okay?” Marina whispered, sticking close to the door’s frame while holding the edge of the door.
“Go away.” He whimpered and sniffled, wiping away his tears.
A few long moments passed, and he could hear soft footsteps of feet covered with thin cotton socks drawing closer.
He feels Marina’s weight as she sits at the edge of his bed.
“You know that doesn’t make you a bad person, right? That muggle boy deserved it.” Her voice was quiet, calm, and calculated.
“Shut up, and don’t say ‘muggle boy’ like you’re any better,” he muttered angrily.
A long quietness filled the room.
Eventually, frustrated with her brother, Marina started towards the door, stopping by the frame for a moment.
“Grow up, Blaise.” Her words pierced his heart violently, more than she knew, and more than he admitted.

The following year, two scraggly looking tawny owls arrived at the Mallory residence. Both twins received their acceptance letters to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The following months were hard on the household, as Blaise’s conscience was heavy with contrition, causing him to steer away even more from anything magical, which frustrated and saddened Philomena greatly. The two fought a lot, with Blaise repeatedly expressing disdain towards magic and magical-folk, while Philomena tried her hardest to stress how important it is for him to accept this part of himself.
“It is so dangerous to try and repress magic, you have no idea how much. Terrible things happen.” Philomena moved her hand across her son’s face, which was wet with tears, caressing worriedly.
“Please, my talented, beautiful boy... For your father’s memory, for me, for your sister. Don’t go that path. Both of you have so many great things waiting in your future.” Philomena whimpered a little while talking.
“Don’t give up on that future just because of one accident. You are not to blame, no matter how mad I was and how guilty I made you feel.” She pleaded, tears now freely running down her cheeks.”
“It wasn’t your fault or magic’s fault. You are a good boy, a fine young man. So much like your father, like you wouldn’t believe.”
The two fell into each other’s arms, silently.
Marina watched the whole ordeal from a distance, unseen. With a disgruntled sigh, she walked back to her room.

Philomena trembled in fear the day her twins boarded the Hogwarts Express, mostly worried about Blaise.
The two separated almost immediately upon boarding the train. For the first time in their short lives, things were different, with Marina quickly gathering a group of first-years around her, as if she were always a part of their world. At the same time, Blaise found a relatively quiet compartment, with only a few students inside.

During the sorting ceremony, the hat took some time deliberating on whether to put Blaise in Gryffindor or Slytherin, due to some qualities of the boy's character fitting in both, and also his family's history in Slytherin house going back generations.
It seemed almost obvious, Blaise would not be surprised to hear an echoing "Slytherin!".
And yet... That didn't happen. The hat put Blaise in Hufflepuff.
Blaise was confused, and for some reason, he could not explain; he felt ashamed. As if he betrayed someone.
The boy quietly walked away to sit with the other Hufflepuffs.
He watched in frustration as his sister was almost immediately sorted to Slytherin. She gave her brother a quick condescending look before running cheerfully to sit with the other Slytherins, where she was welcomed by several other students who she already made acquaintance with earlier that day.

Jacob Mallory | Father | 21 | Deceased

Jacob was a young man about to enlist into the British air force. He met Philomena not long before starting his service, and the two fell in love very quickly.
They decided to get married before Jacob's departure, with a plan to settle down when Jacob returns home.
He died during his service in Iraq.

Marina Linwood Mallory | Sister | 11 | Alive | Slytherin

Being the firstborn by a tiny margin, Marina liked to joke that she was her mother's favorite.
She and Blaise were almost inseparable during their early childhood days but drifted apart when Blaise showed practically no interest in magic.
Marina was obsessed with magic from the moment of her first accidental use of it.
At the age of five, she made the fur of the family Kneazle 'Sabbath' grow uncontrollably long and fluffy.
As Blaise started to spend more and more time outside playing with the local muggle kids, Marina stuck close to her mother, trying in vain to imitate Philomena's use of magic whenever she witnessed it.
Marina is a natural manipulator, possessing a charismatic and ambitious personality.
In the following years of her upbringing, she quickly scouted the few magical kids who lived in Shamley Green and built a close relationship with them. However, her true loyalty and love lie with her mother and brother.
During this time, she tried to pull her brother back on the magical path, longing to experience this world with her brother, but he dismissed and ridiculed her, claiming that magic is why she barely has any friends.
Blaise didn't know, but his behavior broke Marina's heart.
Gradually, the two siblings started to develop a growing resentment towards each other.
In the night after Blaise's second accidental use of magic, which resulted in a muggle boy's hospitalization, Marina gave her last shot at reaching her brother.
Blaise again outrightly refused her.
This was the last time Marina would try to regain his trust and respect, but she never stopped yearning for it.
For now, bitter competitiveness drives Marina, and the same wish to prove herself and gain affirmation.
She was frustrated when Blaise got sorted into Hufflepuff rather than Slytherin. Deep down, she hoped that some kind of house solidarity might bring them back closer to each other.

Marina owns a wand of yew, 10", dragon heartstring core.
