When given the slightest opportunity she will open up to you, chattering about whatever has most recently sparked her bounding curiosity. Like many others her age, she has not learnt the art of subtlety, and can be honest to a fault- but she always has the best intentions. She genuinely wishes the best for everyone she meets, and still assumes that everyone else feels the same way, becoming quite upset when she's proved that that's not the case. Cosmo understands that everyone has some unique point of view to offer, and will consciously make sure she considers what someone says fully before making up her mind on a situation. She will happily admit when she is wrong, and apologises readily, but wont stand to see anyone being unfairly blamed. If you befriend Cosmo she is undyingly loyal and incredibly hard to shake. Aside from her unwavering morals, she can become incredulously silly, and will do ridiculous stunts to get a laugh out of people. Cosmo Keith was born on a balmy Sunday night of August 2009. Her mother, Annabel Keith and her father, Lewis Keith smiled down at her as she took her first breath, her first wail, her first smile. Although she can't remember them, the following seven months of her life were some of her families happiest.

Annabel was a good natured soul, drawn to any tactile, hands on task. She worked as a freelance artist, sending countless commissions of paintings and clay sculptures around the world. Lewis was an introspective, intelligent man who harboured a love for space. He worked for a secretive agency, that often asked him to make questionable decisions in the name of science. It was this agency that eventually brought about Lewis' disappearance, and consequently- one of the worst parts of Cosmo's life.

A major man hunt followed, and Annabel found herself needing to confront the loss of her husband while caring for a teething baby to whom she was now sole provider. Her commissions fell apart and so did her mental health, eventually so much so that she asked her parents to move in. Cosmo's grandmother, Lydia Meadows was a strict lady, and once she made her mind up about something there was no convincing her otherwise. She loved her family, but often struggled with affection, instead dealing out criticisms over anything from how you washed a mug to critical life decisions. Cosmo's grandfather, Eustace Meadows had a friendly face and had been dealing with his wife for many years. He was quiet, perhaps because of her or perhaps in spite of her; nevertheless he was always content to read in the garden and watch birds by the river.

It could have been the perfect way for Annabel to work through her grief and find solace, but she and her mother could never put aside their differences. It took four years for Annabel to finally realise how much stress living with Lydia brought to their lives, and asked her parents to move out once again. By then Cosmo was five, and always searching for some way to release her pent up energy.

Together Annabel and Cosmo created a life by themselves that fostered Cosmo's curiosity and regenerated Annabel's passion for art. Sunday would find them picnicking by the river, Annabel painting and Cosmo delightedly squishing her toes in the mud. Monday Annabel might teach Cosmo a new pattern to knit, or how to make blueberry muffins. The garden flourished, as did they; revelling in the time they had together. Eventually it came time for Cosmo to be sent to school, but neither of them felt ready for another big change, and after several serious discussions it was decided that Cosmo would be homeschooled.

The months fled by, and soon Cosmo was six. She was given more freedom, and because it was a safe neighbourhood often found herself meandering the nearby fields and woods alone for hours on end. The solitude was arguably unhealthy for a child of her age, but it certainly allowed for much more introspection than many of her peers would have. Perhaps this self awareness was why Cosmo's magic started showing so early, but that was neither here nor there. Cosmo would mention to her mother the way she could make budding flowers bloom, or how when she found hurt animals she could heal their injuries, but Annabel just ruffled her hair affectionately and passed it off as childhood imagination.

Months turned to years, Cosmo’s eighth and nine birthday came and went. Eventually her curiosity grew larger than the wilderness surrounding her home, and she joined several children's group activities, including Painting, Aikido - a Japanese Martial Art and Horse Riding. She made several friends over the next few months, but none that she loved as much as Dylan Faughn.

Dylan was a small Welsh boy, his hair always messy, hanging over forest green eyes, and a slim, imp like face. They met in Cosmo's second class of painting and she immediately felt protective of the small boy, but soon realised he had much stronger spirit than muscles. He was funny and daring and mischievous, and introduced Cosmo to an entirely different way of life. They would run through the town streets holding steaks and shrieking with laughter, dogs from all over the town hot on their heels. They became known affectionately as the gwneuthurwyr direidi bach, meaning 'makers of small mischief'.

One day in early spring they were stringing up a zip line that went from Cosmo's balcony to the large oak tree outside, and Annabel was watching from a comfortable deck chair. She didn't expect either of them to fall, they were spritely enough to outclimb any squirrel. So when she heard a shriek from Cosmo she froze, and watched with dawning horror as Dylan fell, screaming. It was a miracle that Dylan survived without a scratch- or at least that's what Annabel told everyone. She had never forgotten some of Cosmo's taller tales from when she was younger though, and started to grow a sneaking suspicion that her daughter might have been right.

The incident only served to bring the two closer, which made their parting two years later particularly difficult. After Annabel agreed that Cosmo could attend Hogwarts, Dylan was the first person to know, and they shared a slightly frantic few weeks, trying to spend every spare second with each other. Eventually the day came, and even though Cosmo held a heavy heart to leave her mum and Dylan behind, it was with anticipation that she boarded the Hogwarts Express.

Year One

Reducio Sorting Ceremony: September 1st ~ This was an exciting start to a big first year for Cosmo. She was sorted into Gryffindor along with a bunch of anxious and excitable 11 year olds, but not before the sorting hat could bring up magical ancestors in her lineage, which only added to Cosmo's ever growing list of questions. The Gryffindor Table: September 1st ~ Some poor seating choices were made, and Cosmo's good mood from being successfully sorted into possibly the coolest house, plummeted. Although she tried her best to handle the small spat between two older students and another first year as maturely as possible, she felt completely out of her depth, and ended up walking away to bed with a heavy heart. Arrival: September 1st ~ The general mood of Gryffindor common room was a cheerful one, and it made for a good change of pace from the stresses of the day. Cosmo settled quietly into her nightly routine, and watched as her new housemates made introductions. Just before falling asleep Cosmo's thoughts turned to home, and she found herself blinking back tears, hoping that tomorrow would be better. A Muddy Meeting: October 3rd ~ On a chilly morning in October Cosmo meets Haley Rose for the first time, and the two Gryffindors spend their time playing two truths and a lie, slowly getting to know each other better. It's an immediate bond, and Cosmo resolves to make sure this friendship is a long and happy one. Meeting New People: October 14th ~ Cosmo spent an early Sunday morning in the comforts of the Gryffindor common room, with a new acquaintance, Amanda Middleton. Although neither girl seemed very confident, the conversation carried well, and Cosmo had a good time. New Beginnings: April 7th ~ Cosmo took a visit to Magical Menagerie with her mother, and after spending quite a long time with a litter of kittens was chosen by a very sleepy Silver Tabby, who she named Emerald. A Little Lost: May 24th ~ Although Madeleine Nakamura was the first student from one of the visiting schools to talk to Cosmo (who had been nervous about this exact situation) the two had a pleasantly normal walk down to the great hall, and the conversation about architecture and travel piqued Cosmo's interest enough to consider traveling one day. Rescue Mission: May 29th ~ Winnie Harper found Cosmo right after a birds nest had fallen in her lap, and the two made happy conversation while replacing it more securely in the tree. Cosmo learned of Winnie's terrible father and shared a small part of her own family history, striking an instant bond between the two. Comfort Zone: June 1st ~ A quiet dinner at the Gryffindor table left Cosmo feeling lonely, but she spotted a lost looking Hufflepuff kid, Aldor Humbleglow, and called him over to sit with her. He seemed to be suffering from a lot of anxiety, but after the conversation turned to books he opened up and they agreed to meet the next day at the Library. Tulips: June 2nd ~ Cosmo spent a lovely afternoon in the library with Aldor, who read The Nargun and the Stars aloud, a shared favourite of theirs. After being lulled into a nap, Cosmo woke panicked by a nightmare and to calm down she suggested heading outside for the last of the suns rays. Welcome to the Unicorn Cabin: August 1st, Campsite ~ The first impressions of new dorm mates can be pretty important! And for Cosmo the first night at summer camp was full of new names and faces. (thread in the making) The Lake Party: August 3rd ~ The idea of a sectioned off swimming area in the great lake was genius on the teachers part, and Cosmo had an absolutely brilliant time with Haley and Simon, getting up to all sorts of aqua mischief. Ivy Bellamy - Although she never learnt her name, Cosmo's only encounter with Ivy was memorable. At first she was inclined to believe that Ivy was spiteful, enjoying the feeling of being more powerful than others, and while this might still be true Cosmo realised that Ivy also has a deep regard for her friends, and treats them with kindness. (Don't get her wrong though, she wont be going anywhere near Ivy again.)

Anastasia Beckett - Ana taught Cosmo not to judge a book by its cover, and for that she is grateful. Cosmo originally assumed Ana to be the quiet, contemplative soft spoken type, and while it was true she wanted some quiet she was not softly spoken during their meeting. Cosmo isn't angry that Ana lashed out because she realises the girl was hurting, but would still prefer not to interact with her again.

Lydea Wayland - Cosmo is sure that Lydea enjoys and seeks out altercations, which confuses her but not enough for her to want to find out why, and so she is quite content to leave Lydea to her business and get on with her own.

Madeleine Nakamura - If Cosmo were to run into this girl again she would be a friendly face, but it may take her a second to remember their brief encounter in the halls.

Haley Rose ~ Cosmo's best friend. The two met in the beginning of first year by the great lake, and since then have shared many adventures together, some daring and others emotional but all very memorable. Haley is the first person Cosmo goes to tell things to, and she knows that Haley will have her back no matter what.

Winnie Harper ~ Both girls share many common interests, and all of their conversations have left Cosmo with the impression of a very sweet and caring individual. Cosmo wants to spend more time with Winnie, learning about her childhood and friends and family.

Aldor Humbleglow ~ This boy is way too shy for his own good, and Cosmo has almost subconsciously taken him under her wing, feeling a need to protect him and make him more comfortable at any given opportunity (whether that's what he wants or not she does not know)

Simon Kincaid ~ Although Cosmo has spent short amounts of time with this boy she has a lot of respect for him. She knows how good he is to Haley, and all round he seems to be a generally easy going and caring person.

=================	==	───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Cosmo has been close with her mother for as long as she can remember, coming to Annabel for everything from scraped knees to queries about why people sometimes get sad for no reason. The bond goes both ways, they know each other inside out and Cosmo can often tell when the loss of her father is hurting her mother most. She will then give Annabel a long hug, and sit with her in silence, drinking tea and letting her regain herself. Annabel is, however, normally bright and cheery; encouraging a lighthearted attitude to every problem. That doesn't mean she wont take things seriously, in fact Cosmo doesn't know anyone who can shed a completely different light on any situation like Annabel. Lewis Keith ~ Father

Dylan Faughn ~ Childhood Friend

Dylan is the perfect match for Cosmo's energy, he never stops, always coming up with a new prank or daredevil plan. Cosmo is the perfect sounding board for Dylan; she's willing to listen while he backtracks and re-tracks and winds himself in circles. Eustace Meadows ~ Grandfather
=================	==	───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Cosmo hasn't seen Eustace since she was five, when Lydia and he moved out, but all her memories of him are incredibly comforting. Eustace was always the one to take Cosmo away when Lydia and Annabel fought, which was often. She remembers warm sunshine on her back as they watched birds for hours on end, her incessant chatter finally finding a place to rest. Walking along thin trails through the woods, discovering baby birds in tree hollows and hedgehogs going about their business. They read novel after novel together, Eustace doing his best to answer every question that Cosmo would indefinitely have. Lydia Meadows ~ Grandmother

She doesn't understand how anyone could yell at her mum, and she tries her hardest not to automatically blame Lydia, knowing that to argue you need two people, but deep down she doesn't believe Annabel is at fault. Cosmo wouldn't mind if she never talked to Lydia again, she doesn't feel any attachment, and is sure Lydia doesn't either. This wouldn't bother Cosmo though, apart from Eustace being married to Lydia- in some of her darkest hours, Cosmo has even wished the two would get a divorce. ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
