Yin Yue, First-year Ravenclaw - Characters

Pre-Hogwarts

Yin was born in London, England on the 1st of February, 2006 to Arthur and Min Yue (née Liang), two Chinese Hogwarts graduates. The Yue family lives together in a small storefront apartment on the corner of the street labeled Yue Cafe & Bakery. While Arthur is typically in the storefront catering to muggles, Min is behind the scenes running the true business of the Yue family, a clinic for witches and wizards. While her parents are working their jobs, Yin would be off at muggle school or performing for customers in the cafe, sometimes she would perform for the patients in the clinic. The Yue family is fairly easygoing and like-wise shares the Weasley's attitude towards muggles, believing that both can live alongside one another without harm. Her parents have never kept any secrets from her as they believe that having the freedom of knowledge is what allows people to make good decisions. Yin has always been aware of the disparity between the wizarding and muggle world. She awaits the day when her letter will come so that she may learn more about the world she knows so little about.

At first glance, Yin is average in height for an eleven-year-old girl standing at just under 153cm. She is petite in build and has a fair skin complexion. Her sad eyes will probably be the first feature you notice upon first look, they always seem to be on the verge of crying. She has see-through bangs and very long, straight black hair that reaches down past her waist where it becomes slightly curled at the ends. Yin seems capable enough to take care of herself and has long slender legs that make her appear taller than she really is. (For future reference. She'll eventually grow to ~165cm. She wields her wand like a conducting baton.)

Yin has never been the one to stray to either side, whether it be overly shy or outgoing, she's always been somewhere in between. She is an agreeable person and pleasant to have in your company. Yin is more likely to keep her opinions to herself, although she isn't afraid to speak up if the occasion calls. Her easygoing nature is inherited from her parents. Unfortunately, Yin has a very slight resting bitch face that's usually covered up by her expressive nature. She tends to smile more often than others, so much so that her trademark eye smile has become a popular topic among the boys. If not for her musical affinity, Yin might have been sorted into Hufflepuff for her kind nature.

During her time still attending muggle school, Yin was most fascinated by music. She began learning the piano at the early age of six and has since branched out into the violin, cello, flute, and clarinet, learning them all by the age of eleven. Her love for music has not dwindled, even now during her reception into Hogwarts as a young witch.
