Silvia, or Silver, as everyone calls her, has dark blonde hair that fall down her back in beautiful, sweeping curls. Her skin is tan and smooth, unmarked by any visible imperfections. Her eyes are a piercing deep blue hue containing specks of silver within them, framed by long, dark eyelashes. She carries herself proudly, her posture perfected after years of lessons on how to appear proper and regal. When she is particularly pleased with herself, Silver will also adopt a smirk and a slight upward head tilt, making her appear even more conceited than normal. If Silver is afraid, her posture may dip slightly and her cheeks may slightly pale, but other than that, she keeps it well hidden. When she isn't clothed in her wizarding robes, Silver dresses primarily in shorts and tube tops, though she never wears the same outfit more than twice in her life. She also has a silver moon necklace which she never takes off, which is one of the reasons for her nickname.

Silver was raised believing that she was the best out of everyone: better than the no-Majs, certainly better than the Mudbloods, and even above her fellow wizard-borns and Pure-bloods. Not that this opinion was unfounded, as Silver had always been beautiful and intelligent, even as a child. She was also always thought of as powerful, though she did not begin truly practicing magic until she began studying at Ilvermorny. All of this served to give the girl a higher-than-life attitude, and she truly believed that she was more worthy than all around her. Due to this, Silver does not treat any of her peers as if they are equal to her, and it is a popular belief around children her age that she is not somebody to be messed with. Though, had someone tried, Silver would have retaliated with a strike much more deadly and focused on ruining that person's reputation. After all, better to crush the hopes of whoever tried to go against her early on, and keep the retaliation itself simple and not provable to have been done by her. This was her way, to keep up a fearsome reputation amongst her peers while staying out of all trouble and not bringing any shame to her family. If any students tried to complain about the girl to any adults or teachers, they likely wouldn't be believed, as Silver behaved nothing short of perfect when around influential adults. Her parents always told her reputation and status were never to be sacrificed, after all.
Her belief of her own worth and her treatment of her peers kept Silver lacking anyone to get close with. In fact, the girl only really ever had one friend. After their- falling out, to put it simply- Silver was left without any friends at all. Despite her mother's assurances that friends aren't necessary and are nothing more than distractions from her studies and social progression in the world, the girl finds it difficult to subscribe to her family's notion that the only people she needs at all are her parents and her political allies. Though she tries her hardest to remain indifferent to the people all around her, Silver is incredibly lonely, and all the girl really wants is a friend.

Always a family of rich and prideful Purebloods, the Ventresses had originally come to America from the south of England some ninety years before Silver's father, Atticus, was born. Her mother, Beatrice Ventress, too, belonged to a long line of Pureblooded wizards, though her side of the family cared much more about class and appearances than Silver's father did. Though she never confronted her about it, Silver had always secretly believed that her mother had married her father more for the sake of allying herself with a powerful and well-known wizarding family and retaining the Pureblood bloodline than because of true love. After all, Silver's parents always said that relationships in their world were based off strategy and political politeness more so than real love or closeness anyways.
Another lesson Silver's parents constantly reminded her of was on the matter of blood, and how wizards of pure magical descent were becoming less and less common as the years went on. Because of this, the few Purebloods that remained were to be honored above all the others, even the wizard-borns. Half-bloods were tolerable, as it wasn't the child's decision to be born to a Muggle-born, though the parents should still lose respect for tainting the bloodline. No-Majs shouldn't receive hate, either, as they were similar to the animals roaming the earth as far as Silver's family was concerned. As long as they stayed out of the wizards' way, the no-Majs were fine. Surprisingly, Silver was always taught never to hate Squibs, or think of them as lower than other wizards and witches. Rather, she was told that people like this, people who were born into proper wizarding families yet possessed no magic of their own, should be pitied and spoken to kindly, rather like a patient with some fatal disease. It wasn't their fault they were born without magic, after all. It was the fault of the Muggle-borns, who stole the Squibs' magic and took it as their own; the Mudbloods, who should be rightfully hated for their thievery of the magic that did not truly belong to them.
All of this was said to Silver in private, of course, and she knew that to reveal to anyone what she and her parents truly thought about the wizards and witches around them would be dealing a catastrophic blow to her family's social standing, and to her parent's positions in MACUSA. So, all of the Ventress's talk of no-Majs and Mudbloods was kept behind closed doors, and Silver made sure never to let it slip out to anyone when she was talking, especially not her professors or anyone with a high position in the Magical Congress. Perhaps because of this forced secrecy, or maybe due to her parent's insistence that all friendships outside their own family were created for appearances only, the girl had difficulty actually getting close to people her own age.
In fact, Silver only really ever had one friend, a girl named Rose Witherbloom. Rose's parents were Purebloods, too, and had ties to MACUSA, so when her family moved to New York the two girls were allowed to spend their days together as a form of company for each other and someone to share their classes with. The two got close over time, closer than Silver had ever been with anyone else before, and Rose even had her own nickname for Silver. A name that no one else called her or even knew about. Rose called her Via. Silver rather liked that name, liked the way it sounded coming from Rose's lips. Via. She liked how it seemed like it could belong to some pretty name, like Olivia, and not the dreadfully boring one that she herself actually had.
In time, though, Silver realized she didn't want to be just friends with Rose. She wanted to be more, to be able to hold Rose and maybe even kiss her the way she had seen people do on the streets and at the fancy parties her parents took her to. She started to think about Rose all the time, to dream about her perfectly curling blonde hair and her sparkling green eyes. So, one day, when the two girls were playing together after lessons in the Ventress family home, Silver decided to lean over and kiss her best friend. Rose seemed to go shock-still, not moving right up until the sound of a door creaking open interrupted Silver and yelling filled the room. Looking back on it now, Silver reckoned that the girl had merely been too shocked to move away or really react at all, and that was what had kept her from leaving earlier. In any case, the sudden entrance of Silver's mother and her infuriated screams at her daughter were enough to snap Rose out of her stupor and leave her running from the room. Attracted by the noise, Silver's father soon entered the room and calmed her mother's hysterical shrieks, which seemed to be centered around how much of a disappointment Silver was and how disastrous it would be if anyone found out. Not understanding what she had done wrong or why her mother was reacting like this, Silver simply sat in silence, tears flowing from her eyes in an unstoppable flow. Eventually, Silver's father was able to get her mother from the room and took Silver to his study, where he sat her down on his knee and quietly told her that those kind of relationships were only to be shown between men and women, and that even if she did feel something, Silver had to hide it or her entire family's reputation would be ruined. The girl finally calmed down and promised her father to never disappoint him and her mother like that again, though she still couldn't understand why he was saying what he was. Neither of her parents had gotten mad when other people had kissed in front of them before, after all. But it didn't matter. Her father said she couldn't be like that, and so Silver resolved to keep that part of herself hidden away forever. Arrangements were made to keep the Witherblooms from telling anyone about what had happened that day, and the incident was never brought up in the family again. Rose didn't come to visit anymore after that.
A few days later, Silver was sitting in her room thinking about the one person she had always held dearest to her heart and would now probably never see again. Unable to bear it any longer, she ran to her father's office and demanded that he allow her to see Rose. When he refused, time and time again, Silver opened her mouth and began to scream. She screamed until her throat was raw, until her father's hands were up covering his ears, until all of the pendants in the glass chandelier hanging high above her father's study were split into a million pieces and were left falling onto her and her father. The cuts and scrapes left by the falling shards were quickly healed, but the incident was never forgotten. After all, it would be difficult for Silver's parents to ignore this even if it hadn't been her first case of accidental magic.

Silver had always been beautiful, even as a child. She knew it, her parents knew it, everybody that had ever laid eyes on the child knew it. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," they say, but throughout all her years of living, Silver had never met anyone who failed to spare her a second glance. It was a common occurrence, in fact, for Silver to tilt her head only to find someone hurriedly turning their face from her, as if to hide that they had been staring. Some people didn't even bother to hide it, electing instead to stare at her dead-on, some looking rather like deers caught in the beam of headlights. Silver found that her feelings towards these people, the ones that didn't turn away, were complicated and tended to change based on her mood. Some days, she respected the observers, admiring their unabashed resolve to see something pretty and look at it. At other times, Silver found herself despising and even fearing the creeps. She was a person, not some shiny thing to be ogled at like a diamond put on display. How dare they treat her like nothing more than a sight for their eyes to see?
Her beauty came mostly from her mother, Silver supposed. Her father was handsome, no doubt about it, but the women in his family were simply pretty, not striking. Silver's mother, on the other hand, did not just have good looks. She was regal, incredibly so, and that elegance brought with it a certain air of boldness and self-confidence that served only to heighten the woman's beauty. Though not nearly as much as her daughter, Beatrice Ventress, too, drew all eyes when she entered a room. She knew the value beauty held in her world, and so she made sure her daughter knew it too.
See, Silver was taught by her mother how to use her beauty to her advantage. She learned that smiling just a bit wider or perhaps twirling a strand of her hair around her finger when talking to a classmate could get them to let her skip them on line for something or copy their homework. Not that Silver needed somebody else's work, of course, as the girl was equipped with not only extraordinary beauty but also a sharp wit. Sometimes, when Silver's parents took her to fancy parties thrown by other higher-up Pureblood families, her mother introduced her to some of the couples with male children around Silver's age, and somehow, the conversation always drifted to whether their sons were interested in anyone at the moment and if they had scoped out anyone to marry yet. Silver knew that in these scenarios, she was essentially being offered as a bribe to get the couple to comply with her parent's wishes, as the implication was there that perhaps Silver herself could become the wife of that son. It didn't bother the girl much to be used like this, though she knew her father didn't necessarily approve of these tactics of her mother's. As long as Silver wasn't made to actually marry any of these boys, she couldn't see the harm in her mother making false promises about it. Sometimes, though, when Silver was lying awake in her bed at night, she would think back to the parties and find that it hurt to think about her mother using her as more of a tool than an actual child.
