Family
Whilst the majority of the magical population have enough magic to attend Hogwarts, a large minority of the citizens of Magical Britain do not. These magicals, possessing the ability to tap into more magic than a squib, but far less than the worst wizard are usually called by the derogatory term hedgewizard.

The Bram's are one such family. No Bram for as long as Hogwarts has existed has been accepted into the magical school and like many others without such an option, they turned to labouring and menial work. The family's line is not pure, mixing with muggles and squibs occasionally as the dregs of society are wont to do. They aren't really a spoken of family in many circles, having since faded into obscurity since the time of the Founders, but some of the upper echelon may well use the Brams as a cautionary tale. Nevermind the fact that the first Bram was likely a squib cast out from a noble family that just didn't die or disappear, unlike the rest of their peers. Very much the chewing-gum on the soles of Pureblood Elite shoes.

Born to a muggle newsagent owner (Jane Harrow) and Eiran Bram, a carpenter working in Knockturn Alley on 24th February, Mardella is the first of her family to ever attend a Wizarding school - only at Hogwarts by the skin of her teeth. The first in Hogwarts history. She's the youngest Bram child, one of four and the only girl. Her three brothers, Dillon, Jorah and Tiordan help out in her parents' lines of work. Dillon (21) at the Harrow's Corner Store and Jorah (17) and Tiordan (14) apprenticing at Silver Moon Carpentry under their father's teacher.

Pre-Hogwarts
Spending much of her childhood playing in the streets surrounding the Diagon or in muggle Edinburgh, Mardella was a curious but awkward child. Fond of the outdoors and racing around the neighborhood with the rest of the boys, she's much more athletic than she is academic. The education she had before her Hogwarts attendance is rudimentary at best, as her parents had been under the impression she would follow her brothers into one of their professions.

The only thing she followed her brothers into was the height department. Mardella had always been a skinny and awkward child, but hitting her pre-teen growth spurts made her a gangly and awkward tween. Her long limbs were useful when playing football or basketball but not so off the sports courts.

As a child she'd shown a few signs of accidental magic, like making her hair manageable one time (it only did happen the once), or turning Tiordan's hair pink when he'd tripped her on the stairs from roughhousing a little too hard. Her family had been surprised but hadn't thought much of it until her Hogwarts letter came - Mardella being the most surprised

Immediate

• Jane Bram nee Harrow - mother, Mardella has a warm relationship with her Ma but it's one that comes with conditions. Jane is a good mother who wants the best for her children, meaning that she wants them to grab every opportunity they can to better themselves. She would describe herself as 'somewhat Somalian' but she was adopted at a young age so she doesn't know for sure.
• Eiran Bram - father, Mardella has a good relationship with her Da, but it's currently quite tense. Eiran does not agree with sending Mardella to Hogwarts considering the costs, he would much rather she worked hard at an apprenticeship "something practical!" He has curly brown hair and a growing baldspot in the back of his head, and a perpetual slump to his shoulders. A kind but bitter man.
• Dillon Bram - first brother, a close relationship, Mardella always goes to Dill when she needs advice, especially when she knows she needs to hear it. He has curly black hair cropped close to his skull, similar skin-tone to Mardella with freckles, and one blue eye and one brown eye. Muscled
• Jorah Bram- second brother, a close relationship, Jorah is a comforting shoulder to cry on and to vent to when things get too tough. He doesn't have freckles and is the tallest of his siblings, quieter than his siblings and talented with a knife.
• Tiordan Bram - third brother, a close relationship, Tiordan and Mardella make the best duo against a goalie, though he's a nuisance and is always teasing her! "what are brothers for, Dell?" He is the only one of his brothers to let his hair grow out into a bit of an afro.

Friends

• Gabriel Mattix - Mardella's first friend at Hogwarts! She challenged him to a flying race after days of nothing sporty to do and was rewarded with a new friend
• Lilith de Rose - Mardella meets Lilith after she carries the fallen girl from the bottom of a stair to the Hospital Wing. She finds out that her fellow Gryff is a keen potioneer, metamorphagus, werewolf and handcrafted jewelry maker - Perhaps Lilith is better suited for the knight than the damsel!

• Marvin Evins- Mardella met Marvin at the Gryffindor table during the Welcoming Feast, he seems to know a Slytherin girl?
• Sir Jodocus the Magniferous - Guard on the Fifth Floor, she's not really sure if he counts as an acquaintance, but he talks back so that has to count for something?
• Alina Ambrosia - Mardella meets Alina at the Welcoming Feast. She's aware that Alina seems to come from a pureblood family (w perhaps Greek origins) and her brother is being referred to in past tense.
• Frederickstein Roscoe - the owner of Silver Moon Carpentry, Mardella is grateful that he's chosen to hire her family members but also irritated that he won't give her Da and brothers the recognition they deserve for their work. Meaning she's pleasant-ish to his face, but cheeky when he's not looking.

Hostiles

• Creepy the Owl - Mardella's first morning at Hogwarts starts off quite well, until this bird makes a visit. She has nothing against owls, it's just this one. Honest.
• Phedra Stavrou - Mardella heads down to the Lake for a splash, but nearly comes to blows with the daughter of the reclusive dark family.

Pre-Hogwarts
Muggle Edinburgh, Scotland
10-year-old Mardella spends the summer helping advertised the shop on the Royal Mile in the capital of Scotland, and wonders about what she'll be doing this time next year. Perhaps she'll meet a few future classmates along the way, not that she knows it yet...(ongoing)
