DESCRIPTION
Stiff, very effective for unspoken spells, perfect for defense spells.

WAND WOOD Rowan wands are reputed to be able to cast especially strong defensive spells. It is commonly stated that no dark witch or wizard ever owned a rowan wand, and Ollivander cannot recall a single instance when a rowan wand owner has done evil. They are best suited for the clear-headed and pure of heart, and often outperform others in duels.

WAND CORE A Snallygaster heartstring. Originally used by Ilvermorny co-founders. The Snallygaster is a dangerous, part-reptile, part-bird creature. Although it superficially resembles a dragon, the Snallygaster is actually a distant relative of the Occamy.

Like her father, she bears a head of wild copper-red curls, a smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks, and deep blue eyes. Willowy and sylphlike, she stands nearly a head taller than most girls her age, and it's rumored (and is even the source of many bets back home) that she may reach six feet tall by the time she's done growing.

Aisling is the definition of a fiery redhead, with an unyielding spirit, an unmistakable enthusiasm about life, and a dash of sass tossed in to top it all off. A social butterfly by nature she exudes an inviting warmth. Surface level "small talk" doesn't cut it for her, preferring to form lasting, emotional connections with others.

She is, above all things, an individualist and will naturally question tradition and rules, if not rebel against them. Routines bore her, and she will often times try to shake up her schedule to keep herself on her toes.

Always ready for the next adventure, she invites any and all new experiences, be they unusual or not, and is gifted in her ability to take most anything in stride.

On the flip side she is terribly indecisive, and perhaps a little too gullible. And, like most fires, she can get a little out of hand when her temper gets the best of her.

Aisling was born in July 2009, the youngest child to Arthur and Carys Collins in the small, picturesque village of Rye in East Sussex. She spent her childhood alongside her older brother of two years, scraping her knees on cobbled streets, getting sand stuck in her hair at the nearby beach, and helping her mother out at their modest cafe and bakery on Mermaid Street.

Her childhood was relatively normal. She and her brother got along swimmingly, and despite being two years apart they hung out together almost daily. More often than not, the two of them would get up to squirrely shenanigans if they were left to their own devices for too long. On days she and her brother weren't parading through Rye's streets they were helping their mother out at her cafe with age appropriate tasks. Usually, Aisling helped her mother prepare the next morning's pastries, or would wash the dishes in the back while singing and dancing along to the radio.

In school she did well enough, managing to get by with passing grades despite her lack of academic focus. Most days, she preferred to stare out the classroom window and imagine herself far, far away from the boring 8-3 routine. Doing what? Anything and everything. Some days she imagined she was whisked away to foreign, fantastical lands, and others she simply wondered what sorts of alien life might exist in their world today.

Not once did Aisling imagine that she would ever find reason to leave, perfectly content with her small slice of paradise. That is, until something quite strange happened just after she turned eight. Her magical manifestation went unnoticed by her family, but it left her confused and uncertain about her place in the world.

Born to muggle parents, who were also born to muggle parents, and so on and so forth- the last few generations of the Collins have been, well, not magically inclined. Unaware that a Squib had entered the family through marriage some generations ago, no one could have guessed that Aisling would become the first Witch of the family when the magical gene resurfaced unexpectedly sometime before the summer of 2020.

With school out that year, both she and her brother prepared to spend their summer days lounging, having fun on the beach and helping their mother at the shop while having their fill of sweet pastries.

The "First Magical Day", as she calls it, had been like any other day for Aisling. She was washing the dishes and listening to the radio, swaying and singing along when, in a poorly executed wrist flick, accidentally flung her soap soaked plate out of her hand. In a panic to catch it before it could crash, she lunged for it with an outstretched hand and, like magic, the plate simply stopped midair and whizzed back to her fingers. Unsure of what had just happened, she eased her confusion by telling herself it hadn't really happened that way- but, oh, how wrong she was!

Afterwards, similarly strange but small "accidents" happened, and each time it felt like she'd been grabbed by the shoulders and shaken until she grew to accept that, perhaps, she was different from the rest of her immediate family.

Her father- the one she takes most after. A kind and inquisitive soul, he also bears a much more muted sense of life when compared to his rambunctious daughter. He's always been Aisling's go-to parent, and he's always allowed her to get away with more things than Carys ever would. As a father he acts more like a guide, allowing Aisling to form her own opinions through her experiences while asking questions to help her gain clarity on her thoughts. He's never pressured her to be anything in particular, and is glad that his daughter has an unyielding sense of individualism and fearlessnes at such a young age.

Aisling's mother is a bit more of a stubborn mule. Strict and firm, she's a little less enchanted by Aisling's energy and, while lively in her own way, is pretty set in her routine and prefers to do things by the book. Perhaps it's just a reflection of her love for the hand written recipe books that she's worked off of for years. She brings joy with her cafe and bakery, providing a safe and quiet place away from the hustle and bustle along Mermaid Street. Between her and Arthur, she was the one less willing to come to terms with the truth about Aisling, but is slowly beginning to warm up to the idea.

Aisling and her older brother have always gotten along well. Some siblings fight, but Aisling and Devin are more likely to throw their arms over each other's shoulders and work together as a team. He's always been rather protective of her, and vice versa, and he's equally excited and nervous for his sister to go away to another school- especially a magic school! In Devin Aisling always has a friend, and is confident that no matter where they are at in their respective lives they can always call each other up for some much needed advice, or to ask for a partner in crime.
