Miranda has always been a clever child, and grew up in Southern Canada with her parents and younger brother Cedar. Her family owned a farm for Magical Creatures there, but they moved when Cedar was born to the outskirts of London (when Miranda was one year old), and took over a bigger farm that had been sold to them for a good price. Many of the creatures there aren't permanent residents, and are simply left there by their traveling owners or come there of their own free will (the more intelligent ones anyway). Only a dozen or so stay year-round.

Her parents have always been distant figures in Miranda's life, and she spends the majority of her time doing chores, and playing with her brother and the various magical animals. Since her brother is quite daring, he often convinces her to join him when he does things their parents normally forbid. This often tends to get them both in trouble, but Miranda doesn't mind, because she sees it as an opportunity to remind her mother and father that she still exists, because some days it seems like they may have forgotten her. Because of this, she is normally quite responsible, but uses her considerable intelligence to look for loopholes in most rules, much to her parent's annoyance. Miranda thinks her parents were glad when she got an invitation to Hogwarts and was able to leave the house.

When she finally got to Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat immediately placed her in Ravenclaw, and while she wasn't surprised all that much, she was disappointed that her parents were right. However, she absolutely loves her new house. So many books!

Studious. Extroverted. A Disregard for Rules. Sure, some of those sound like traits belonging to a Ravenclaw, but not all. Definitely not all.

But Miranda has never been the average person. Although most that meet her in passing tend to see her as a classic Ravenclaw - absent-minded, curious, and often lost in thought - there's more to her than meets the eye. The biggest of these surprises isn't about her personality...it's her race. Not that it takes much to make her divulge the "secret", however. It has always been her belief that hiding the fact will get her nowhere, especially if people she befriends would shun her if they found out her true nature. What kind of friends would they be then, anyways? Not that her transparency doesn't come with a price, but Miranda does her best to avoid anyone who is direct about their dislike of her...otherness.

Other than that, Miranda is a bold and friendly girl that loves to talk almost as much as she likes being outdoors. She does her work, respects the professors...and regularly bends rules like curfew. Perhaps some of her father's and brother's Gryffindor traits were inherited by her as well, after all. It would certainly seem so given the circumstances.

Miranda never backs down from a challenge, even if it's one she has imposed on herself. This is the only way to get her to face her two biggest fears - cats and water.

Her hair is an almost white-blond, and falls in wavy locks down her back. Her features are round and give her an almost innocent look, but anyone who calls her sweet will wind up on her sharper side. Miranda's eyes are a crystalline blue and almond shaped. She wears a metallic gold and pink bracelet on her right wrist, a gift from her father when she was much younger, and not quite as ignored. Miranda's preferred clothing are typically blue-toned, or colored in shades of black or grey. She doesn't like eye-blindingly bright colors as a general rule, approximately as much as she dislikes cats and water.

Werewolves - Being a werewolf herself, Miranda is utterly devoid of prejudice. If someone asks (or even if they don't), she will openly admit to being something other than human, seeing as it's her firm belief that is someone hates you for being different, then they're not worth knowing. This is especially true for those that would be her friend if they thought she was human.
Dhampires - Miranda understands what it's like to be mistrusted and even feared, so she doesn't really mind Dhampires as long as they're friendly. She treats them like any other person she knows, human or otherwise, and only really cares about how they act and treat others. If someone lashes out regularly because they're different, she has next to no sympathy, because she has learned to accept her differences, and knows they could too, if they only tried.
Half-Veela - To Miranda, Half-Veelas and regular humans are almost indistinguishable from one another, so there's no real difference in her eyes.

Miranda's first instance of true magic was when she and her brother were taking a walk around the neighborhood and ran into a group of older, muggle kids that lived nearby. They, like many other people living in the area, had heard rumors about the strange Everest Farm that lay a ways away from all the other houses, almost as if they liked to be away from everyone else. While they'd never had the nerve to taunt or tease the adults, the Everest children were easy targets. It was for this reason that Cedar and Miranda found themselves being made fun of by the kids, although as time progressed and the two tried their best to ignore them, it grew into pushes and shoves. Finally Miranda snapped.

With a cry of anger she rushed one of the tormentors, only to have everyone's shoes except her own and Cedar's to suddenly burst into flame. This, combined with the strange whisperings about her family, finally spurred them into running, leaving Miranda and her brother safely behind.

After this, her instances of magic became more frequent, although never anything that dramatic ever happened again. However, an odd fact was that everything after that also seemed to include fire and explosions.

Sylvie Joelene Everett was born on a cold September night to Marie and Louis Everett. However, the dark place of her birth did nothing to affect the rest of her life. In fact, Sylvie quickly grew up to be more energetic than both of her studious parents combined, and was always quick to point out the positives in any situation. By the time she was four, it wasn't a rare sight to see the young Everett child waddling around the neighborhood, looking for something or someone to amuse herself with. And while many were tolerant towards her free-roaming behavior, there were still those who found the child irritating and troublesome. However, that did nothing to faze the girl, and instead made her all the more determined to befriend these grumpy people. Her efforts were of course met with little to no success, but many admired her staunch determination in the endeavor.

In fact, that same stubborn determination has in time become one of her most predominant personality traits, along with her excitement and loyalty. Unfortunately, after the initial admiration wore off, many people began to find her "pigheadedness" tiring at best, annoying or irritating at worst. This led to her parents receiving several complaints from the neighbors, which inevitably resulted in Sylvie getting confined to the house and yard until further notice. Being the fearless little girl she was, Sylvie attempted many, many times to break out, but excluding short trips down the road before getting caught again, she never succeeded. However, the message soon seemed to get through to her parents, and they allowed her to walk to the park once a day, as long as she was accompanied by either her mother or father. And so it went for several years.

When she reached age nine, the household prison sentence, which had already grown loose and half-hearted over the years, was finally revoked. Sylvie reveled in her newfound freedom, but was careful to respect other people's space the way her four-year-old self hadn't, lest she lose the privilege of spending pretty much all her time outdoors. In fact, this was the cause of her first instance of magic. Her parents had been growing worried over the fact that their daughter, who was only two years away from her eleventh birthday, had yet to show any signs of magic. But one afternoon, when she accidentally wandered into the next door neighbor's backyard after mistaking their house for her own (many of the houses on her street looked quite similar), she found herself almost getting caught by the man who owned the place. Luckily, she somehow managed to cause a commotion by sending a stack of tools and other assorted yard equipment crashing to the ground in a great mess in order to distract the man before he discovered her hiding place in the bushes. While at first she was hesitant to believe the cause of the accident was actual magic, Sylvie soon realized that there was no other explanation for the seemingly sturdy pile to fall apart. Then, after she made her escape, came the dilemma of telling her parents. In the end, she fibbed that she'd sent a collection of things flying at her head away, and they accepted that fully, much to her joy.

Nothing much else in the remaining two years of her life before she arrived at Beauxbatons was very much remarkable. However, once she did begin school, Sylvie was quick to assemble a group of close friends, and although they've had their share of arguments, her easy-going and positive nature makes it hard to stay mad at her long.

Sylvie's instinctive wandering would have got her in trouble as Beauxbatons traveled to Hogwarts. Noticing the Academy's staff being nervous at times, they often snapped at her and forced her to stay close to the group. The tension during the entire trip was palpable. What was it that had the professors on edge? As she stuck closer to one of the staff members she heard someone mention how the streets weren't safe any more with the riots going on. A line that would certainly make any child wonder what was going on.

She had frequently been described as an "untameable ball of pure energy", mostly on account of her extremely energetic behavior and boundless enthusiasm. However, Sylvie can also be incredibly stubborn in her goals and decisions - although most people she meets later describe her as "strong-minded". Unlike many in her family, she prefers to head outside and play over remaining inside to learn, a fact many of her teachers, and then later, even some of her personal tutors were quick to point out.

Sylvie has long brown hair and slightly tanned skin. Unless for some reason she has a reason to be annoyed, her features are normally curved into a smile, and even when she's supposed to be listening or sitting, Sylvie tends to keep shifting her gaze and watching everything nearby. If confined, Sylvie is prone to pacing, unless she can find a suitable pursuit to keep her occupied, although it's rare that that ever lasts long.
