The Mason's back then had been in all regards a simple family. Gaining Pure-blood status only two generations back(Alec's great-great-grandparents). James's father had come from a poor family. Because of this, the man had a higher work ethic than most. He believed in tough love, James's mother following in the same regard. While neither of them had come from rather wealthy families they were very much prideful in their Pure-blood status. It blinded the family to ignorance towards any of their past. James's grandparents were never able to fit in with the Pure-blood elites because of their monetary status. They thought if they acted as though they were upper-class, acted like Pure-bloods would their family would get treated in such a way.
Despite his father's goal of working hard and fitting in. Both parents had always been able to make time for James(BY:1982). He was loved upon by them, their kindness towards him and his two siblings was limitless. James was a middle child between his older sister(BY:1978), and his younger brother(BY: 1990).
(1989)On a family trip to go wand shopping for James's older sister, far too uninterested in focusing on what needed to be done James would find himself wandering around until he walked into a bookshop. He wasn't a reader but there his eyes would land on a blonde girl. She looked rather bored. James reached for a book. Using it to hide his face for a second, once he moved it from his face he'd make a silly face while he made eye contact with the girl. This would go on until a smile appeared on her lips.
James smiled as well, about to go on when he realized he'd been caught. Not just by his mother who had just run in, scolding him about wandering away, but an older man. The young girl's father. A glare from him, James's mother noticing this would start to drag him out of the shop but not before the girl would give him a slip of a paper and he could wave goodbye to the girl. The slip of paper had turned out to be an address to send owls to. The address would not get much use until James was the proper age of nine. He would use it to send jokes and pictures. Yet at nine he began writing full-on letters to her.

Their family hadn't been all Pure-blood, by the time it had gotten to Livvia's parents however it didn't matter(five gen Pure-bloods). Their family had come from wealth and money for the longest time. It may have been great to outsiders, but because of this, there was a certain way the family was supposed to act. Livvia was no exception to the deal.

The family was traditional and seeing as they didn't have a son, their future son in law apart of Livvia's older sister's arranged marriage would inherit their things. Growing up Livvia was raised far different from her counterpart James. She would be raised and brought up by her nannies and tutors. She rarely saw her parents except for when they sat down for dinner.
Livvia was a book-smart girl, because of the way she was taught to act she would appear shy and sheltered to strangers. Her life was boring, as young as she was she always wished for more. She'd gotten what she'd wanted when she met her first friend, James. Their letter-writing had become constant as Livvia's eleventh birthday soon came upon her.
Though their relationship before Hogwarts had been constantly speaking to each other, they would give each other space and room to grow as they entered Hogwarts. Acquiring their own friend groups. This would be unchanged until 1998.
Sixteen-year-old James was a steadfast young man, caught up in his pride as his family had been slowly gaining wealth over the years. The money was nice, and as a sixteen-year-old with parents too busy at that point to pay attention to him he would find himself in trouble from time to time. Yet he was an intelligent and charming young man, caught up in his pride thinking he was everything he dated around.
Sixteen-year-old Livvia was young and wild, caught up in everything and nothing all at once. She was a rebellious teenager, and the newfound confidence James had was alluring to the girl. She'd been warned that the boy dated around, but it was the perfect dose to set in the teenage rebelliousness. She was to be married once she graduated from Hogwarts to who she arranged with. It didn't matter to the girl, at first.
He fell for her, and she fell for him, they were in love. Their romance was a whirlwind and always interesting. The day they graduated from Hogwarts James proposed(2000). It'd taken months of asking but finally, Livvia's father had said yes, dropping whoever she was betrothed to. They were married a year later(2001).
The young couple spent years traveling around until Livvia fell pregnant(2003). Travelling had been Livvia's way to escape her role of being stuck and in place. She knew when she had a child she would finally be stuck. As one last ode to her free spirit, the young and adventurous couple chose a modest middle-class home in a muggle neighborhood to live out their days. While they had the money for more, Livvia had decided living so modestly would be an adventure. James liked the idea because of the reminder of himself with an over-inflated confidence as a sixteen-year-old boy because of his parents' wealth. They settled down there and had their first child, Nina Mason(2004).
Their life was simple as James picked up a well-paying job and Livvia tried to be a stay-at-home mother. Wanting to be more involved in her children's lives than her parents were. Their life was simple and quiet until the birth of their second child(2008), Alec Mason. Livvia took a twist on her parents' inheritance rules. After Livvia's older sister had married a muggle and was outcast from the family she'd chosen that she would give the rights of it to her son. As Alec was born Livvia had realized she was good at this whole being a mother thing, in fear of making mistakes she distanced herself from her children except when she needed to care for their basic needs.
Growing up though his parents had intended to be adventurous Alec was extremely sheltered. Not allowed out to play with the muggle kids Alec would watch them from his window and spend time busying himself with artistic activities. Alec would be by himself for a while until the third Mason child was born, Jackie(2015).
Alec became close with his little sister extremely quickly and spent most of his time with her. Playing peek-a-boo and with blocks, playing pretend as she got older, or having those little tea parties the girl was so fond of. The boy often compromised what he wanted to do, to do things she wanted to do, but every so often she and him would do something he wanted. Whether it was sketching and drawing, or the secret spy missions around the house. He was overprotective of her. Worried to be heading off to Hogwarts and leaving her, but also excited for a chance at some freedom. The shy boy was excited to learn and make new friends.
Accidental Magic: He's had cases of accidental magic a few times, his most memorable was this one. Alec was around three. Playing a card game with his mom, he'd gotten upset because they'd been playing the card game for a while now and she kept beating him. And just when he about to throw a small fit because he couldn't win. The cards went flying up into the air, everywhere. Alec remembered grinning happily when this happened, not because he understood he could do magic, but because by this happening. It meant his mom didn't win the game.

The second spell still has to go through the normal targeting mechanics, it would not be an automatic hit or anything.This effect will not take place if the wand is not drawn.

Alec will often be carrying his enchanted satchel with him everywhere he goes. The flap and the strap of the bag are covered in pins. If you ask he'll point some out and explain them to you. Alec also loves jewelry and can often be found wearing any sort of jewelry he can get his hands on, whether it be necklaces or beaded bracelets, and a certainly uneeded amounts of rings. Alec just had his ears pierced over the summer as well. The Gryffindor is almost always wearing nail polish and is willing to paint other people's nails if they so ask.(he's also the type to wear flower crowns and would totally make flower crowns with people if they asked)
Whenever he has the chance to get out of his school clothes he can usually be seen in his green hoodie or some sort of sweater. Almost every pair of pants he has, has rips at the knees, the fourth year having a tendency to wear them out fast, especially when he does this odd sliding move on his knees. His style aims towards anything casual and comfortable. While he likes muggle clothes, Alec has also been learning to better embrace fashion of the wizarding world and has been known to wear the occasional wizard robe and suit.
Anyone who paid close enough attention would be able to pick up his scent. A woodsy smell of dirt and trees after it's rained. Undertones of leather(from his many leather-bound books), as well as some flowery smells as spring comes upon.

Alec has a mess of curly carob brown hair, having let it grow over the summer it's long enough that he can tie it back. Alec's face takes on an oval-ish shape with the point of a heart, blue eyes(his eyes have a blue-ish green-ish color. In my rps I have had a tendency to flip between the twomostly based on lighting. In order to not cause confusion, I'm sticking to calling them blue.), and clear skin. Alec is athletic, slightly muscular, and lean, with just about average height for his age. His skin is the color of ivory, though it's always a slightly darker shade from the amount of time he spends outdoors(the sun tans it ever so slightly). His appearance often looks as if he's been running from something dangerous(frazzled, messy hair, wrinkled clothing). His posture around people he's uncomfortable with or strangers will be rather stern and stricken(in a formal and uptight manner), over time he'll fault to his natural posture slightly more slumped over when he's relaxed around the people near him. I was weird how fast our friendship came, we hit it off and clicked. Ever since we became friends George has always been there for me and I appreciate it. George is one of the most kind a genuine people I've ever met. I always have so much fun with him when we're together! What could I possibly say about her that hasn't already been said and thought a million times over by other people? She's incredibly talented, smart, ambitious, her tenacity and strength as a person is incredible; I admire her dearly.
We're been through so much together... a label like "friends" simply doesn't cut it. Opeila means a lot to me and I care for her deeply, even while I know it doesn't begin to describe what I feel towards her, I'm not ready to think on, let alone admit that my feelings towards her are much more complicated than I even realize. Opeila is comfort, Opeila is safety. Having Opeila around calms the storm in my mind. Her presence quiets my anxieties and I can forget; if only for a moment.

People would think I was crazy if I ever told them how me and Wyatt met. I think what most don't understand is that we were both always used to often being the only ones looking out for ourselves. I was protecting myself. When reacting back, he was doing to same.
I fear I will never find someone who understands me quite like Wyatt does. Over the years I have become more and more grateful for his ever-constant presence in my life. I am unable to fathom what a life without him would be.
There are feelings I have for him I have found ridiculously hard to squash no matter how much I've tried. I don't see a future where I ever have the courage in myself to bring it up. I can't do this to myself again. It's not worth it and I would never want to ruin anything between us.

Hana is... complicated. Most people are, but Hana is one of the few hardest to puzzle out. We met under odd circumstances, and I found myself as his date to a ball. He's nice when he wants to be. I still feel bad he got hurt at the ball under my watch.
He doesn't often like to accept help and he's very closed off. I enjoy his presence, though, admittedly, some of Hana's actions feel two-faced. I feel as if he puts on a show for the people around him, if only to play into their conceptions of who he is.
I think we're friends but I'm never able to tell with him, sometimes the smallest things make him upset and for that reason I can never be sure where I stand with him.
There is more to him. I wish I knew what he was thinking. I wish he would open up.

I met them on the Hogwarts Express. I was naive, lacking world experience. They seemed rebellious, and it was intriguing to me. Both my parents and theirs tried to set us up. I don't know if their still trying, but would that even matter? There had to be rumors going about with my family after December, no association wanted after that, or at least I hope. Cash doesn't know when to hold their tongue. I don't like them. I would rather incendio them before I ever spend genuine time near them.

He thinks he too serious? I hardly think being serious could be a problem, rather then an admirable thing. It was surprising how well he took to having a random stranger telling, not the best jokes, I have room for improvement. He was honest, and very straightforward. What could I possibly say about her that hasn't already been said and thought a million times over by other people? She's incredibly talented, smart, ambitious, her tenacity and strength as a person is incredible; I admire her dearly.
We're been through so much together... a label like "friends" simply doesn't cut it. Opeila means a lot to me and I care for her deeply, even while I know it doesn't begin to describe what I feel towards her, I'm not ready to think on, let alone admit that my feelings towards her are much more complicated than I even realize. Opeila is comfort, Opeila is safety. Having Opeila around calms the storm in my mind. Her presence quiets my anxieties and I can forget; if only for a moment.

ReducioI'm listing the people that have most relevance to Alec's life, may go back and eventually edit it to add aunts/uncles and more of his cousins.
James Mason-39-Father
He's an Auror, a fast-paced man interested in more than all of life would ever have to offer. As Alec was growing up he was a very distant man, who was always at work. He always came home late, and even when he didn't it was preferred that he did. It sub-sided the hearing of any arguments until all the kids within the household were in bed. He was never involved in the parenting of the children, yet ultimately made the household's major decision. The carelessness in just about everything meant Alec was never able too bond with him enough to have a genuine interest in him or care, feeling like a stranger rather than a parent.
He's mellowed out from his younger year's of letting the money his family had get to his head, yet still has a side hungering for adventure. This and letting everything else give him a big head, he was praised far too often by the people around him for often stupid actions, this led to arrogance and an ego that has mostly dissolved(mostly because he's now still slightly arrogant).
He's a blood-purist, though his views seem to be somewhat conflicting. He's okay with muggle-borns and muggles, the muggles have no control over being muggles, or for even that much muggle-born. He has an issue when pure-bloods specifically mix with one that is not of pure-blood(squibs included, they still have magical blood). It's mainly because of history and the problems magic-folk have had with muggles in the past. For half-bloods of course he won't blame the person, just their family. Their parents had the control over it. His issues delve further, but it's already gotten rambly enough(really it's just so I have personal notes for myself because things slip my mind)
In recent months the man has started to pay more attention to his family, upon private conversations with Livvia of divorce(august 2020). Realizing that his family, his children were much further from okay that he had thought they were. Finding out there was a lot he needed to fix. He's began working on his relationships with the children as of recent.

By the time Jackie was born, Livvia was in a state of full on avoidance of parental duties. It may have been fine if the family had chosen to hire a nanny at the very least. Yet Livvia was still trying to make being middle-class as if it was some sort of game and didn't. Being this way, she was tied down, and lacking the adventure of her life before marriage, before children.
She had gotten away with not parenting the child for the first year of the little one's life because of complications from the birth, but after, it was back to the same old routine. Livvia would take care of the child's most basic needs before leaving her in the crib all day.
Nina had been far too used too it that she just ignored Jackie. Alec saw a need and from that point on worked on giving Jackie something better. Alec wasn't getting what he needed from his parents and this somehow also got dealt with as he took on a parental role for his little sister. If he's close to you and asked too speak about her, the situation is clear from his eyes. He was there for her first everything even though his parents could never be.
