History

Wyatt August Sacha Starkey grew up in Cokeworth, England: a less-than-glamorous, half-abandoned town. While the Starkey household was never peaceful, the air about the place was more… tense after Wyatt’s father learned of his wife’s magical abilities. He thought she was a freak, and he let her know.

Wyatt mainly relied on music to help him block out the sounds of his parents' bickering, but sometimes it wouldn't be enough. When his parents' fighting grew louder than the music, Wyatt would go into the forest and play with all kinds of animals; snakes and ants being his favorite. The snakes wouldn’t hurt him, which he always thought was strange. He’d put ants on the snake’s “backs” and watch the snakes slither around with their little passengers. He thought they’d be the perfect match, even as polar opposites.

Wyatt doesn’t trust other people very much, and tends to be distant. If he can’t fade into the background, he settles for making the source of his irritation hate him. These days, he’s more high-strung, so a bump in the corridors may be enough to upset him.

He was bullied in school for quite a few things, including being a "nerd," though he didn't earn the title with his poor grades. He was just quiet and hid his head behind books he didn't read, as he didn’t have anything to say that wouldn't get him into trouble. Most of the time, the other kids simply wrote him off as creepy, and didn’t talk to him at all. As you may expect, Wyatt didn't exactly mind this so much.

First Instance of Magic

He had no idea he was a wizard, and saw no signs of magic in himself until his father left. Wyatt’s father was going on about how his wife and child were freaks. He looked at Wyatt like he was a rabid animal, and fury built up in the boy. He clenched his fists, and the next thing he knew, his father was thrown up into the air, hitting the ceiling, and falling back down. He scurried off, terrified, and Wyatt felt powerful. He knew it was him, his mother would never hurt anyone, not even the horrible August Starkey- and especially not with magic.

He was overjoyed upon getting his letter for Hogwarts. By then, of course, he knew he was a wizard. His mom had filled him in on the wizarding world as much as she could. She told him that she was a Slytherin, and so were her parents, and their parents, and their parents. She knew that her Wyatt was bound to be a Slytherin too. Studying magic was so enticing. He grew very proud, and began planning his revenge on his father. What he’d do when he learned jinxes and hexes. If he gave his father a concussion accidentally, what could he do on purpose?

A Brief History of the Veilleux Name

The honorable house of Veilleux is a full family tree of proud purebloods. For the most part, at least. There have been a few blood traitors, and those few were promptly removed from the family. The latest traitor being Eloise Marie, daughter of Stephen and Rachel. When Eloise Marie challenged her parents by marrying a filthy muggle, the old couple panicked and cut all ties with their daughter. This was the case for many a pureblood witch or wizard that dared to marry so much as a half-blood, though in the days during and before the second wizarding war, you'd be very lucky if all you got for being a blood traitor was losing your relationship with your parents.

Wyatt Starkey is a newly-graduated man with messy dark brown hair and almost black eyes. Those eyes are usually accompanied by bags just underneath, and they stand out well enough against his fair skin. His commitment to broom racing has forced him to practice a bit of a healthier lifestyle, though at times of more severe emotional distress he may slip back into a corpse-like appearance. His face is tattered with small lines of scarring, but besides that, the only other visible scarring is a line on his left palm. Wyatt is 5’11. Those with a stronger sense of smell may find that his scent is one of eucalyptus and green tea.

Voice

Wyatt's voice always sounds a bit fried as if rusty from underuse, though with the way he runs his mouth when need be, that's hardly the case. Something about it should rub you the wrong way. One theory suggests it's the way he's mastered the art of making it known how he feels about you through tone. He uses a received pronunciation accent, straying from the way most people speak in the small town of Cokeworth, England, where he was raised. If loud or tired enough, however, a hint of his waning brummie-adjacent accent may come through.

Wyatt is quiet and likes his privacy. He is playful when he wants to be, but never in populated areas- he's really only fun when there are just one or two trusted people around. He doesn't often lose his temper, and rarely raises his voice. Wyatt sees showing emotion as a sign of weakness, and believes that it's dangerous to put your guard down. Being someone who constantly masks his thoughts and emotions, Wyatt knows that just anyone could do the same, and that he should never blindly trust people.

Katrina Walker, hmmm: Negatively Positive...?
Her past experiences don't make her any less of a snotty Gryffindor. We met in her second year and my first after she threatened a first year Ravenclaw in the Abandoned Toilets. I couldn't help but feel bad for her after she shared her story... Not pity, but more of an understanding. A shrink might call it empathy.

Alec (J.) Mason, friend: Strongly like
When we first met, he pushed me to the ground in the Small Hall, and I regrettably fought back a little harsher than I should've. He very quickly got back at me with a prank that knocked me out and landed me in the hospital wing with a broken nose. It was the summer of 2020, though, that our friendship actually started. Now, I don't know what I would do without him, although I entirely understand that I do not deserve him. He is the kindest person I know, but sometimes I wish he'd move on already and stop drawing things out so much. When I know he'll leave eventually, the wait is torture.

Katherine Labrouder, borderline enemy: Strongly Dislike
The brat could disappear and I wouldn't mind a bit. Please, I might be your top suspect. If it were up to me, she'd be out of A.S.P. That decision, however, isn't only mine to make, and I doubt fellow founder Cassandra Ironwoods would vote their own friend out of the club.

Adlai Rod, fellow founder: Like
She's very kind, almost too kind. Optimistic, too. She seems like she could be happy about literally anything. She's so obnoxiously kind that I thought it was a facade at first. Though I will always have my suspicions, since I've seen more of her in A.S.P. I've begun to think it's genuine. Oh, yeah. And she once accidentally threw a flipendo my way that flung me, full force, into a stone wall. Long story.

Lindsey Springhall, ex-crush: Like
Too kind for her own good, or at least to me... but what can you really expect from a Hufflepuff? I felt really nervous around her, but a good nervous. I wish I could have actually spoken to her more... I might've had a chance. But that was in our second year. The flame's died out, so they say, but I still see her as a good person, and I will be on her side for as long as she needs me to be.

Autumn Ivy, tentative ally: Dislike
She's crazy. I do not like Autumn very much... or should I say Raven. Some Hufflepuff... Still, I have to admit she's more interesting than a lot of the people I've met at Hogwarts. I'd like to see her again, and she how she's doing. It's been a while, and she's probably got herself up to some ridiculous stuff by now.

She's mad. I don't like her very much. She has the wit of a Ravenclaw, but the Gryffindor pride and courageousness that gets her into trouble. I happened to be the closest person to her when she decided to petrify a prefect. I wasn't joking when I called her mad.

Jack Burnett, dormmate: Dislike
What a brat. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jack Burnett needs a babysitter. He's the most annoying person I've ever met... well, of course after Tone, that is. At least Tone didn't escape to my dorm after being chased by a ton of bees. He couldn't have gone anywhere else? If there's one thing he's good at, it's disturbing the peace. I don't hate him, but I certainly am not a fan.

Selim Faust, dormmate: Neutral
Quiet, mysterious, the boy is an enigma. With the way he carries himself, I don't know if I can even call him a "boy." "Young man" seems to fit better. I haven't officially met him, but he interests me. I think he's an insomniac- maybe there's more to that.

Draven Mirador, dormmate: Strongly Like
My roommate, and a good one to have too. I'm sort of worried about him. We were a little close, but then he came back to Hogwarts after a long absence and he was unrecognizable. I want to look out for him, just to be safe.

Hanako Tone, dormmate: Tentative Like
He reminds me a lot of the Burnett boy. Obnoxious, but more difficult to place, emotionally. I'd like more blackmail material on Tone. I found him in the Chamber of Secrets once, that's kind of how we met. I can't help but feel that's not his only secret. He carelessly exposed my identity to other parseltongues out of boredom the year after. Hanako Tone is not to be trusted with any more of my secrets. It's funny, when I say it like that, it sounds like I had a choice whether or not he would know of my ability in the first place. That said, he could be a valuable ally in times of need. Don't tell him I said that.

Percival Rainwood, dormmate: Neutral
He was the victim of a swift pillow to the face, though he did hit me first. That being our first meeting was incredible foreshadowing for our future. He continues to be an angry person, even setting a first year on fire in our... second year, was it? At the start of my fourth year we were put in a dorm together, and neither of us are loving the arrangement. He wants to go back to rooming with Hanako. Am I really that bad? Whatever you do, don't answer that question. All in all, I can't really tell how I feel him.

Percival Gray, dormmate: Strongly Dislike
Percival two is a pure-blood snob and I long for the day I get the courage to punch him in the face. He isn't a fan of me either, probably because I'm a half-blood. He's a strange, newspaper-reading weirdo. I don't know what's got him all mysterious and stone-faced all the time, but I'm sure people have similar concerns about me. He's a good teammate in broom racing, but he's not someone I'd otherwise enjoy the company of. Then again, I wouldn't enjoy the company of most people.

Opeila Winters, dormmate: Like
Winters didn't seem to like Hanako Tone very much when we first "met" which was good enough for me at the time. We seemed to keep meeting at our worst moments, and I was beginning to feel like a bad omen. She has always been kind to me, however, and I feel like I owe her my kindness as well, though it doesn't feel like a chore as I thought it would. Through broom racing, I got to know her a lot better, and I hate to sound crazy but I think I had a crush on my ex-roommate's ex.

Cassandra Ironwoods, fellow founder: Ehh, Fine
They don't like Tone, but they're also an immature follower. Anyone who looks up to Katherine Labrouder needs psychiatric help. Still, I respect them as a fellow founder of A.S.P. They do good work and care about the club, just as any founder should. I am here for them, should they ever need my support for anything. That doesn't mean that we have to like each other, and I'd say we don't.

Perseus, ex-friend: Dislike, but sad about it
Perseus is a snake I befriended back home in Cokeworth. Yes, he is a snake, but he'd always been there for me. He taught me how to speak in a more sophisticated manner, which is odd since he's a snake. We've been good friends for as long as I can remember. We've had sort of a falling out recently. I guess I couldn't keep a friendship forever.

She's funny. Hot-headed for a Hufflepuff. But funny.

We met on the Hogwarts Express. I don't know much about her but she likes The Beatles, so that's cool. We talked in the library about some silly old professor who lost his mind a bit ago. It was nice.

Meredith Ready, acquaintance: Dislike
She started the rumor that I'm a Dark Lord worshipper, but there are plenty of other things that make her weird. Every time she's nervous, she starts talking about magical creatures, for one. Very odd.

Henry Knight, dormmate: Strongly Dislike
I hate Henry. He just gets on my nerves in a way I can't exactly describe. Something's different with him, I just can't tell what.
