Reducio

As soon as he was born, he was ridiculed over his actions.
Some of the phrases he heard most often were ‘Be nicer’, ‘Don’t be rude’, or ‘Share!’
You see, his parents were a bit of perfectionists. This didn’t stop at their child. Pureblood nature led them to attempt to make him the same as they were now as adults. He didn't have much of a real childhood to speak of up until then. The majority of his days were spent studying, or attending Business functions with his father. And when it wasn't a business function, it was a pureblood meeting with his mother. These various meetings took him all over Europe and even into the Americas, where he was forced to learn English, even though french was his first language. One thing led to another, and he was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, to his parent's confusion and disappointment. This didn't make them stop bringing him places, though, as he was expected to be well rounded, and experienced in these things. 

That was, until he was nine. An illness swept over quite a few of his family members. Five of them to be exact. It started with his aunt, who survived. It was then passed to the other three females of the family. One of them being his mother. Simultaneously, his uncle fell sick, as well as his father. 
Rowan was left to care for them for two months, with no help from his aunts, who stayed away, fearing to fall ill again. 
For some ungodly reason, Rowan was immune to this. 
And when the first casualties struck, he wished he wasn’t, and that he could instead join them.
His mother was the first to fall. And a week after, his uncle. The two closest people to him, gone within moments of his life. And he had to watch them as death took them into his arms, despite his efforts.
His father survived.
And Rowan wasn’t sure how glad he was of this fact. He became mute for weeks, to the point when his father recovered, he gave up on bringing him to the functions all together, leaving him home alone for hours, even days at a time.
With the mild assistance from the animals in the garden that he fed, he slowly began talking again as he murmured to them at times.
Rowan has not sung from the moment his mother died, something she did on a regular.
Only when he arrived at Hogwarts did he feel truly free again, like he could be expressive and at least start to recover from the many events of his past.
