Hogwarts Summer Camp Welcome to Summer Camp 2020

The students would have been woken up in the early morning, to get them ready for breakfast and all packed up, ready to go. Just a few hours later, and they'd all be streaming out of the castle, heading for the train station. Hogwarts would be deserted over summer. Keeping all students out and far away from danger. With perhaps a handful of staff staying behind to attend to the castle's matters, other professors and fellow staff members chose to accompany the students on their journey back to London.

The train ride itself would have been quite uneventful, with most passengers falling asleep either by being tired from the early awakening or just those that had been exhausted after surviving a dreadful year of danger and homework. Caradoc himself had passed out for almost the entire trip down south. Hjørdis looked at him and... just sighed. From the train station in London. The group would lose those children that were meant to spend the first half of their summer with family or elsewhere. Making sure children were picked up by a guardian at the very least, the other group would only have departed once the first had found their way safely to their relatives.

From there on out, Professor Browne took the other group with them to a predesignated zone. The ministry had been so kind to take care of preparing five portkeys for usage by the British wizarding school. So that, under supervision of the professors, each and every child could be transported to the Stadium fields.

Hjørdis stifled a yawn as she arrived at the stadium. Unlike her Hufflepuff counterpart, she had spent the train journey awake - stubbornly refusing to sleep just in case anyone needed her. She got quite a bit of reading in but unfortunately, not much sleep. Rubbing her shoulder that was a little sore and fixing her hair, she brushed off her clothing and made sure it was pristine. With little time to waste, however, she met up with Alaric who went early to help set up the tents, scout out the area and get a general feel of everything. He had arrived some hours prior to work out the security detail, along with Elaine. Once she had been briefed, she paused for a moment and asked about the headmaster. They had brought him with them and set up his tent. Nodding, Hjørdis brought out the clipboard and a checklist whilst Alaric went back to patrolling the area.

All of the students that were intending on attending summer camp were asked to sign up with their names, so that they could be kept checked. Caradoc brought students in through the portkeys. Thankfully there were 4. Just enough for each house, who was brought it by him and other professors and assistants present. Mostly because Hjørdis refused to take multiple portkeys herself. It messed up her hair. Standing near the entrance of the Hogwarts encampment, Hjørdis checked off each person as they entered to account for their arrival.

Once everyone had arrived at the encampment and been accounted for, Caradoc and Hjørdis gathered the group together. "Alright, listen up everyone! Firstly, welcome to the International Quidditch Tournament between Wizarding Schools! For the next twenty days, you will live, eat and take part in various activities in this vicinity," The Hufflepuff head spoke, before his Slytherin counterpart immediately picked up, "We have organised a plethora of activities for you to enjoy, including a few trips outside of here. You may join any that you are interested in. You will find your timetables here. Any free days you have are yours to do what you want. However, you cannot leave the London Quidditch Stadium area. There are wards around that will prevent you from doing so." The instructions would continue. Students attempting to sneak out would simply fail because of the wards around the area, which made it so much easier for patrols.

However, professors would still patrol around the area - especially at night - to ensure their safety, "Over there, you will find our tent area. Do not go to any other school areas, or stray from your own tent. Unless specified otherwise, you will need to be in your tents by 8pm every evening and will not be permitted to leave until 6am the following morning." Hjørdis glanced over to see Elaine arrive at the back of the crowd. On receiving an affirmative nod from the Gryffindor Head, Hjørdis continued, "For your own safety, we have already cast protection charms over each tent," She explained, not bothering to go into further detail. The various charms in place prevented outsiders from breaking in whilst also preventing the students from accidentally causing themselves more harm. It could not catch on fire, for instance. Elaine had arrived earlier as well and focused on adding charms over the tents.

"The tents are similar, you can pick whichever you fancy. Don't worry though, they are bigger on the inside than they look! Get some rest today, it's been a long journey and then settle in properly tomorrow, if you want. You'll be here for a few weeks so you may as well make it yours!" Caradoc chimed in, with far more energy. It was almost as though he was refreshed from sleeping well - or just a happier and less monotone person.

In general, the tents had plenty of space up to ten people to stay comfortable. Some had bunk beds, whilst others might have curtains around each bed. There was usually a small area to sit and relax when people were not sleeping. Nothing overly fancy but perhaps a little more spacious than their dorms - and less messy!

He shoved a large map into the Slytherin professor's hands and made her hold it up, as she sighed behind it. On the map, he pointed out where the encampment was, as well as where people could go for meals. "Breakfast, lunch and dinner is available here at the usual times. Some of the events will also have food, of course!" He said with a grin, thinking of his own, "As you'll see, there's also just lots of areas that you can hang out like this small park type thing or this uh playground here or... this courtyard? Is that a courtyard?" He mumbled, looking behind the map to see Hjørdis glaring at him to hurry up, "Oh right, yes. So yes, lots of areas around the stadium itself. And of course, that giant stadium if you're going to watch the game - or play!" He continued, pointing out the stadium in person rather than on the map since it was visible anyway.

Hjørdis lowered the map, trying hard not to glare at him and turned her attention back to the students. "Regular school rules apply. As of this moment, you represent Hogwarts at this Tournament. If you fail to follow the rules, you will be barred from joining activities and confined to your tents. If you decide to intentionally sneak out, break curfew, throw a party, cause harm or anything else that we both know should not be done... we will be reviewing whether or not you can participate in future tournaments or camps - or if we even hold any in the first place." Hjørdis stated, fed up with the constant need for rule-breaking. This camp was an optional, fun activity for the students. It was not necessary. If they could not follow simple rules or take responsibility for their own actions, there would have to be consequences.

"Barbecue on the third!" Caradoc exclaimed out of the blue. "Two other schools might be joining in there. So might be nice to meet some students from other countries. Make sure you've slept enough by then you rascals! Go unpack!" The man clapped his hands to signal that they were free to head to their tents and set out across the field. "You'll be there too right?" The Head of Hufflepuff asked his Slytherin counterpart. Though she merely started walking to her tent as she shook her head with a sigh. "...Right?!"

Hjørdis continued to walk off, without looking back at him, "I'm going to see Lear," She replied to his question, not actually answering the question at all. Barbecue. Really? That was what he was going to talk about after she glared at everyone. Sigh, of course. Caradoc left once all of the students had been ushered to their tents.
OOC Guidelines for Camp:
- Full information on Summer Camp Events here.
- This thread is for information purposes only. IC, all Hogwarts students will have been present for this.
- iNPCs will have received a similar briefing from their own professors. [IC Rules + Restrictions are the same. iNPCs will be able to attend some of the 'Hogwarts' run events, as specified on the activity or schedule].
- IC, any threads you make should be limited to the London Quidditch Stadium board only between 1st - 20th .
- Tent threads can now be posted. You cannot change your tent once chosen. Tents have an expansion charm so they are bigger on the inside and can easily fit 10 people. They are intentionally left vague so that you can 'decorate' a little and make it your own. Please be respectful of this freedom. If you decide to do something ridiculous or obviously not okay (like include a firewhiskey fountain) then we won't give you the freedom next time.
- Remember OOC Rules, including PG-13 Rules. Do not toe that line. There will be consequences.
- Events are now open for participation. If the thread is up, you can participate. Remaining threads will be up soon.
