Match 4 - Emma vs. Meenauh
Welcome everyone to the fourth match of our Duelling Beta Test!
A new Duelling System has been in the making for some time now, and starting today we are finally able to show you what the team has been working on. Places as testers have been offered to the top students of the month of May, of which so far all have taken to the task with great ethusiasm.
We will be playing the test duels with the new 6 Stat System, as some of you may already be aware of. This is a Second Year test match, putting the participant's stats to either 35 or 40 points depending on whether the duelists choose to be a special race or not. A minimum of 1 point in Stamina is required, and the maximum amount of points in a single stat is limited to 10. Abilities are not yet included in this test.
Your duellists today are @Emma Hill from Ravenclaw House and @Meenauh Silmataurea from House Gryffindor. Please give a hearty round of applause to both of them! The moderator for this duel will be me.
Both duellists, please post your stats underneath this post so the duel can commence.

THE DUELLING STATS
THE STATS EXPLAINED
For these tests, we will be testing out a new 6 stat system. Please read the details below to understand them.
Stamina: This stat determines a player’s durability. In duels, this will determine a combatants health. This is your health points in a duel.
Evasion: The stat determines a player’s ability to physically react and move quickly. In duels this will determine a combatants chance to dodge an incoming spell. This will help you dodge incoming spells.
Strength: This stat determines a player’s physical ability to hold or lift. This stat is unlikely to be used in duels as the rules don’t allow for physical contact between duellers. This is not currently used in duels.
Wisdom: This determines a player’s skill at spell-casting, accounting for things like correct incantation and wand movement in a duel. This will determine casting success. This will help you successfully cast the spell in the first place.
Arcane Power: A measurement of magical potency. This will determine spell damage. This will determine how much damage your spell does.
Accuracy: A stat which will determine a spell’s chance to make contact with an opponent. This will help you to hit your opponent.
The minimum word count per post is 100 words. You can find your duelling spells here.

The Round
Elaine stepped onto the podium and between the two aspiring duellists with an air of calm. This was far from the first duel she had moderated, though there was still a certain sense of excitement as she looked at the two students on opposite sides of the platform. They both had the chance to prove themselves today, in victory as well as in loss – it had to be said however, that is was easier to be graceful in victory than in defeat. She was looking forward to seeing how these girls would do in facing that challenge.
A bit of a crowd had gathered to watch the girls, and the professor raised her voice slightly to be heard over the low mumbling of the assembled students. “Miss Hill, Miss Silmataurea,” she addressed first one and then the other, giving a nod to each duellist. “I trust you are both aware of the rules. I expect a clean duel of you. The first one to incapacitate the other duellist or to make them surrender will be the winner of this duel.”
She paused for a moment and a tense silence settled over the crowd of onlookers.
When both girls had signaled their readiness to continue, Elaine took a step back to give them room on the podium.
“Begin.”
Emma to post first.

Match 4 - Emma vs. Meenauh
Emma was euphoric. It was the only way to illustrate how she strolled through the halls and rushed through her homework just to get here as if time would casually speed up as she did. Needless to say, time was hastened in any way, but it did seem to stall as if taunting her along the way. It didn't matter, she was here now and feelings of anxiety and tension dwindled slowly onto her. She couldn't let it show. Instead, she put on a brave face and began to fidget with her wand.
Her strategy was simple, to play to her strengths, utilize her opponent's weaknesses, but most importantly, to remain calm even if things didn't turn out in her favor. She was a competitive person but that didn't mean she had to be sour about it. Tonight was going to be amusing, no matter the outcome. If she was going down, at least it would be with satisfaction.
The brunette took a deep breath at the specifying of her name. She beamed and acknowledged her promptitude to the professor, turning to face her opponent with one look that could be deciphered as sorry, but excited.
Instantly, once the magic word rang, she had her wand up and ready with a spell on the tip of her tongue. "Incendio Duo!"

Match 4 - Emma vs. Meenauh
Meenauh had no clue it could turn like that. She agreed to accompany Marla as a supporter, but she couldn't even believe that she would become a contester. Considering that she wasn't a competitive person at all. On the second thought, she guessed that it would be a nice test of what she had learned so far and what she was capable of in terms of practically using her knowledge.
And there she was. Standing in front of another student that she didn't even know a thing about, except that she seemed a bit older and she was a Ravenclaw. Okay, also Miss Hill. There was something surreal in all that as she never expected herself to become a fighter, but considering that danger could appear from anywhere, she had to practice how to protect herself and fight. It wasn't about strategy, but tactics. One couldn't plan in advance but quickly react to the constantly changing flow of the duel, which wasn't Meenauh's strong point.
The introductions were made and then there was a silence. Precious seconds she spent on coming up with the opening spell as there were no incoming data to process. Or maybe just allow Miss Hill to cast her spell first, dodge and come up with a spell afterwards?
One word broke the silence and her thoughts, and the battle began, which meant no time left. So she quickly drew her wand and heard the beginning of the opponent's incantation but not the end of it, and while gesturing a knot with her wand, shouted the incantation as clear as possible:
"Mimblewimble!"

The Round
She had her wand at the ready, just in case one of girls missed their mark or a spell rebounded somewhere off the room, but they proved to have to have fairly good aim for younger students. Miss Hill was the faster of the two, but – maybe because she was so fast, or maybe because she had made a mistake in the wand movement of the spell, Elaine hadn't seen it properly – something went wrong with her spell and instead of a yet of fire only a tiny flame errupted from the tip of her wand before it died out.
Her opponent meanwhile had cast her own spell, which she did succeed in casting correctly. It hit the Ravenclaw, who wasn't fast enough this time and didn't manage to move aside in time to steer clear of the Tongue-Tying Spell thrown her way. The crowd of onlookers gave an excited murmur. Miss Hill was now in the predicament of not being able to verablise anymore spells of her own, at least until the effect of the tied tongue came off her.
If the duel continued this way it would be a quick for the Gryffindor student, but Elaine knew that Tongue-Tying Spell's cast by younger students could be fickle, so she waited at the sidelines for how the duel would continue, ready to interfere before one of the girls could really get hurt.
Meenauh to post first.

Match 4 - Emma vs. Meenauh
She felt magic going through her whole body, flowing through her hands into the wand and then some kind of blueish light flashed into the direction of her opponent, successfully hitting its target.
Move one.
Control.
Successful.
She didn't clearly hear what was the spell her opponent cast at her, but the starting "In-", the deduced amount of syllables and the tiny flame on the tip of her wand provided Meenauh with information to process. Quickly running through the spell list in the back of her mind, she identified it as the advanced Fire-Making Spell.
Meenauh didn't quite like fire. But it seemed her opponent wanted to go fully aggressive from the very beginning. Probably, if Miss Hill would feel the effect of the spell on herself, she wouldn't be so keen to use it on another human being in future. Especially an 11-year-old child. Why did wizarding parents approve their children duelling each other with hurtful spells and playing quite aggressive Quidditch?
"For Merlin's sake, focus, Meenauh!"
She didn't have step two, because she didn't intend to participate in the first place. So, randomness was the way to go. Chaos was the answer. She felt another wave of magic bursting inside her as she drew her wand again, smirked just for a second to herself and made another movement with a clear incantation:
"Incendio Duo!"

Match 4 - Emma vs. Meenauh
Before she knew it, a beam of blue light struck her and before she had the time to move out of the way or make any noise of dissatisfaction. Oh, great. It wasn't one of the worse things that could happen to her, but it was pretty close. She didn't think too much about it as if it would do her any good in the match, it would only do it's her best distract her. There was really only one thing she could do at the moment and hope that the spell wore off soon.
Lowering her wand, she attempted to prepare herself for the next spell she did not see coming. The two were playing with fire, literally. Maybe it was her way of mocking her for a failed attempt at the spell, or maybe just a brilliant way to get into her head.
Ugh, seriously? Is that how we're playing? Emma thought to herself, kind of glad her thoughts weren't vocalized for her opponent to hear. Nevertheless, she was happy to hear at least her own thoughts even if they weren't said out loud.Action » Attempt to Evade

The Round
Despite being her muted Elaine didn't see any insecurity in the Ravenclaw student; if anything it seemed to have motivated her to not give up. Miss Silmataurea however hadn't given up either, especially since she had the upper hand in their duel at the moment.
The girl used her own spell against her opponent and had a lot more luck at casting it. A strong yet of flame erupted from the tip of her wand and towards her opponent, but the muted Miss Hill was ready and jumped to the side in time to avoid getting hit by the fire. A few students close to the podium yelped in panic as the hot flames shot past them, but they were all far enough from the action to be out of harm's way.
A short applause followed those two wonderful displays of duelling prowess, and the professor was quick to join in. "Wonderfully done," she commented, a fond smile on her lips.Emma to post first.
