Hills vs. Gray PV Finished

RESERVED: Dorian Gray & Isabella Hills

The Professor stepped between the two students, a gloved hand behind his back and a posture made of stone. He waited for the two students to come up on each end before stepping back to beckon the two of them together. There were rules and ways to begin a duel, he chose to begin it the way he knew best. "This duel is between Isabella Hills of Slytherin house ..." he motioned towards one end to the other with the free hand.

"And Dorian Gray of Gryffindor house. Come to the middle ground and meet your opponent eye to eye, then bring your wands up to the ready. Turn around with your backs against one another and once at your respective positions, turn and face one another. Good luck to both." The Bulgarian man took a deep exhale and stepped back to place his hands behind his back. Once everything was said and done with, the Professor nodded to the both of them. "Begin!"
Remember: No less than 100 WC, but no more than 500. Rules are here.

The change in overseer served only one purpose; to make Dorian nervous for the first time since stepping foot into this Dueling Club. Why did it have to be Professor Yornikovych of all people? There was nothing Dorian feared more at this moment than making a complete fool of himself in front of the man he idolized. He had to remind himself to breathe. There was no point in stressing over an eventuality that may not even come to pass. Following his advice, he conjured a wall in his mind, creating a barrier between the self-assurance and the dread. There was just one thing required of him and he would complete the task without a repeat of that game of tag that should never be spoken of ever again.

Observing and enacting all the motions as dictated by the professor, Dorian finally took his place near one end of the platform, readying a stance that he had always favored from his many fencing lessons. He didn't blink, he barely breathed, and his heart was doing the tango in his chest, but otherwise he felt ready to challenge the world. Calm enveloped him as he waited, and immediately upon the professor's utterance Dorian smiled, flourished his wand in the spell's tight, smooth gesture, and incanted an assertive "Flipendo!" aiming his wand directly at his opponent's midsection. His aim was to knock her off the platform with one fell swoop, ending the match before it had even begun.

Isabella followed the professors instructions, stepping up onto the platform. Her hair turned yellow as she got excited. She hadn't duelled before, but she knew the basic just of it. She squared up her opponent. He didn't look like the kind who would be easy to beat. But he did look like the kind to try and finish her off quick. Her hair began to turn red. She didn't want to be judged and brushed off so quickly.

She moved her feet into a comfortable stance that she felt comfortable in and gripped her wand tighter. She was going to show this Gray boy. She wasn't one to be judged quickly. She was flicking through spells in her head, trying to find the one she was best at. Then it hit her. Incendio. After all she had burnt half the common room using that spell. She smiled at the thought of it.

She shrugged her shoulders back, getting ready. She took a deep breath, calming herself and turning her hair to a light blue. She waited for the professors signal. As soon as he uttered something she didn't catch she cast the spell, hoping it would reach her opponent before his spell reached her.

Action: Aggressive Stance. Cast Incendio.

You see? Even death has a heart.

A few minutes prior to the start of the match, Serena had silently walked in and greeted the Professor with a nod of her head and a smile towards him. She could feel the nerves in her stomach, making her feel a little nauseous. She had moderated a few duels on her own, already but this time, it was different. This time, she was not alone. Her task today was to help assist with the moderation. In a way it made it better to have a Professor around, just in case something went horrendously wrong. She had definitely been scared a student would end up starting a fire to the whole room and there would be nothing she could do to stop it. All she could do in that situation was scream, a lot. Having a Professor would be a lot safer. They could handle the situation with ease.

However, this Professor was not just any Professor. It was Sergei Yornikovych, the stern man who taught a subject that she was terrible at. He had asked her to assist but she was definitely sure he would regret his decision very soon. The smart stern Professor with the babbling moron. Oof. She stood a few metres away from Sergei, trying not to behave like an utter idiot in front of him. He really did not need to know how bad she was at Transfiguration and staying off his radar was something she would much rather do. Besides, he was the Head of the wisest house, apparently. They were on completely different ends here.

Nervously standing there, Serena observed two students, Isabella and Dorian, come to the stage. The Slytherin versus the Gryffindor, what a clique it was. She watched as the two began their duel...

The Gryffindor vs. the Slytherin... What could do wrong, right? Wrong. The answer was everything could go wrong. From the very start, everything did go wrong - and quickly. Both students adopted an aggressive stance and both of them attacked without hesitation. Everything happened in a blink of an eye. Both Dorian and Isabella launched into an attack, simultaneously. Was it bravery or determination that guided the students? No... The Gryffindor acted recklessly and the Slytherin was too arrogant.

They both succeeded in their hits. And yet, they both failed. They both lost, together. Isabella hit the fall with a loud thud. Oof, that was going to be sore when she woke up. She hit her head on the end of the stage, falling off it and knocking herself out. Dorian found himself on fire, his robes burning. The shock of the attack had him stumble backwards. He fell from the stage onto the ground. The smoke prevented him from breathing properly. The shock prevented him from acting rationally. Within seconds, his body gave up. It went into shock and passed out.

Serena's eyes widened at the sight, "Sh-". She ran forward, quickly trying to help the pair of students. The Professor beat her too it, of course. His wand was already blasting a jet of water at the Gryffindor boy, putting out his flames. "Isabella? Hey, c'mon, wake up..." Serena checked Isabella's wounds whilst Sergei dealt with the fire. Isabella was fine. There was no bleeding. She would be sore when she woke up, perhaps have a headache but for the most part, she would be fine. Hopefully that would be soon, she wasn't sure she could carry her to the Hospital Wing alone.

After the flames died down, Serena rushed over to Dorian and checked the boy, "Dorian? Can you hear me?" trying to get some sort of reaction to show he was conscious. The Professor had acted quickly enough to prevent severe burns but Dorian would certainly need to fix up his now very damp robes that had scotch marks all over them now. He may have had a few minor burns on his wrists or exposed skin too. He was unconscious but at least he was not severely burnt. Hopefully he would wake up soon too. "... Well... They're alive..." She said to the Professor, as though that was an consolation, "I'll uhh try to get them to the Hospital Wing...Serena continued, letting Sergei continue with the other duels he had lined up. If they didn't wake up, she'd have solicit some help from the students awaiting their turn.

The fools had managed to knocked each other out in one hit. She honestly couldn't tell if she ought to praise the pair for their skill or scold them for their recklessness.
