It was funny how she could be dressed up and looking her best now, when only a few hours earlier she had been wandering around lost in the many streets of London, in nothing but her pyjamas and fluffy slippers. She had found her way home eventually of course, with a little help, and now she was dressed to impress at her mother's reunion party she was throwing for the people she had gone to school with.

"Do I have to come mum?" She asked in a quiet voice. She was sitting on the end of her mother's bed, watching as Ella Hills put the final touches if her make up on.

For the last time Isabella, of course you do. I already told you some of them are bringing their children so you won’t be completely alone. I think a few of them are your age - so you’ll know them from school.

Wrinkling her nose, she fiddled with a lose thread on the end of the knee length dress her mother had forced her into. "I don’t like your parties, they’re always so boring. All you do is sit around and eat deserts off silver plates."

Is there something wrong with that?

"No, it's just that they're always the same. Why don't you throw something a bit more different every now and again. It wouldn't hurt to get an elephant sometime would it?" A smile tugged on the corners of her lips as she spoke, it was obvious she was messing with her mother before the party started - trying to relieve some of the tension between the two.

Ella Hills had not been happy when her first born had stormed out of the house that morning upon hearing the news of the reunion. And she had been even less pleased when she had found out she had been hanging around with a boy in an area that was less safer than the one she lived in. Although Isabella had tried and tried to explain that she had simply been asking him for directions, her mother would not hear any of it and proceeded to give her the 'I'm very disappointed in you' talk that parents seemed to keep tucked away for rainy days.

Next time I throw a party, and you attend, I’ll be sure to get an elephant - just for you.” Barely a minute after she spoke, a knock on the door indicated the arrival of guests. Ella Hills swept out of the room without so much as a backwards glance and could be heard greeting her old time classmates with her usual 'Bonjour! Do come in, we'll go into the sitting room shall we?'.

Standing at the top of the stairs, Isabella took a deep breath. Her mother had said one or two of them had children her age they were bringing, so this wouldn't be absolute hell, would it? They were likely too attend Hogwarts, so the chances were she already knew them. There weren't many people she had clashed with at Hogwarts, so as long as she got along with them tonight she'd be fine.

Taking a deep breath, she gripped the banister for support and walked downstairs to greet her mother's guests.

“What?! Why do we have to go to your reunion party?” Amanda asked frustratedly. Her mother gave Amanda a disapproving look in the mirror. “You’re going to have to be more polite than that at the party.” Alice Sparrow replied, putting her earrings on. “Besides, I believe that Ella has a daughter you’re age. I’m sure you two will get along just fine.” Amanda huffed. “She’s probably one of those popular girls who never talks to me. Anyways, does this mean I have to wear a dress?” Alice turned around and looked at her daughter. “What do you think?” Amanda rolled her eyes and sighed loudly, walking out of the room to change.

“Hey guys, we’re going to Mom’s party! Wear something fancy!” Amanda yelled at her siblings. They were staying in a small, two-bedroom flat, until the house that they were going to move into was ready, and all of the kids shared a bedroom. Except for Amanda, who had jumped at the opportunity to sleep on the couch. Amanda opened the box with her dresses in it and wrinkled her nose. Ugh, dresses. She would much rather wear sweats and a T-shirt any day. Amanda went into the bathroom and changed into the dress that she had picked out. Not half bad, she thought as she twirled in front of the mirror. Then she slipped on some black heels and left the room.

After everybody was done getting ready, they all piled into the car. It was a pretty uneventful ride, much to Amanda’s pleasure. When they arrived at the Hills’ house, everybody got out of the car and walked up to the front door. Amanda’s dad, James, knocked. Ella Hills opened the door and greeted them warmly. As her parents were ushered into the sitting room, Amanda looked around and noticed a girl coming down the stairs, a girl that she, thankfully, recognized. “Bella! Hi! I’m so glad you’re here. This is your mother’s party?”

“Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.”

Parties were dumb and stupid. Reunions were dumb and stupid. Her mom was also extremely dumb and stupid. Thus, this reunion party of her mother's was bound to be the dumbest and stupidest thing Ami would have ever had to step foot in. What an absolutely fantastic waste of her time.

Oh, why were parties dumb and stupid? Wow, you were actually asking her opinion. Unbelievable, such a kind soul. Well, see, Ami didn't like "dressing up"- something that Abella and Ami would never agree upon. Abella was gorgeous and she knew it, while Ami preferred to dress in "trashy clothes" or even just pajamas.

Hey, it was summer vacation, she could wear whatever the hell she wanted.

The compromise turned out to be this, and it was a good one; Ami would dress up in a nice dress and nice shoes that made her 5'6", and she wouldn't complain about the little bit of mascara lining her lashes. In return, her mother would buy her that guitar she'd been begging to have for the past week.

Ah, the privilege of money. One that not many people were fortunate to receive, but a beautiful one nonetheless. Throwing it away at a reunion of sorts, however, wasn't something Ami would've chalked up to her "Top 10 Things to do With Your Money" list. If you really wanted to talk to someone again, why not meet them one-on-one, face to face? Really, she didn't get the point of it.

Her mom was the dumbest and stupidest human being to walk the earth- or, at least in Ami's opinion. Who cared if she was some kind of magical genius, or if she was drop-dead gorgeous? She thought that it was unacceptable to put pineapple on pizza, which was probably the dumbest thing she had ever heard. No pineapple on pizza? What kind of a philosophy was that? Come on, think of all the non-meat eaters! Pineapple was their meat!

"Who's gonna be there?" Ami asked as she fell into shotgun of her mom's bright red Ferrari. Why did she have a Ferrari in such a violent shade? I mean, she was fond of luxury cars and all, but bright red was a bit over the top. "God, if there aren't any other kids, I swear..." The glare the 12-year-old shot at her mother was a frightening one indeed, one that usually only adults were able to muster.

"I know Ella Hills has a daughter about your age- she's the host -and I'm sure some of the others will, as well," Abella reassured her daughter, shooting her an amused smile. "Besides, you've always been very mature. You could always sit with us, if you'd like, when you get bored."

"Who else is gonna be there?" Ami repeated. "Okay, so the Hills are the hosts. Who else?" Abella shrugged, only giving Ami another loving smile. "I guess you'll have to go to find out."

It turned out, the Procoppios weren't late, even though Ami's whines made them out to be. Gently guiding her daughter inside the estate, Abella turned to hug Ella and coo over how lovely she looked, handing her the bottle of fine, expensive wine and box of fine, expensive chocolates she had brought.

Glancing around, Ami noticed two other girls from her year, and was even more shocked to see that she recognized them. Isabella Hills, a recurring figure in her life, as well as Amanda Sparrow, who had been present at the History of Magic excursion. Waving to them both, Ami walked over, a fake smile plastered on her face. "I wonder when everyone else will get here," she said conversationally, brushing her hair back from her face. "It's great to see y'all, by the way."

This wasn't the first time Scott went to one of his mother's old friends' social gatherings. He knew the drill perfectly by now, age twelve, and had even learned to judge the type of gathering it would be before even arriving. This was usually by taking a look at the clothes his mother had picked out for him and herself, and by asking wether his father or brothers would join them.

This time, strolling through muggle London, Scott was wearing a ridiculously prom-looking blue suit with a white jacket and tie, and his mother a lavender dress- all the while neither his father nor Ben were to be seen.. leaving only:

"It's a fancy one, isn't it"

Gretchen knew that her son had the answer to that himself, but nodded and smiled anyway before applying a layer of lipstick and knocking on the door to the unfamiliar house.
"Yes, it is. And because it is, shove that hair behind your ear, won't you? Great. The other side too, you know.. Looking sharp!"
"Right back at you.."

Scott looked to the ground embarrassedly, before a woman opened the door to let them in. His mother greeted her happily, and Scott shook her hand with a big smile like he was supposed to- but now there were other things on his mind upon entering, besides the hostess:

Other kids, three girls it seemed, stood as lazily around as he. Oh he was jubilant! He'd long since stopped asking his mother if other children were attending the events she dragged him to, because it was rarely ever the case- but this time, it had been.

One of them had eye-catching curly hair, the other a black and white dress, and the last.. oh!

Ami!

He damn near said it aloud, and giving his mother no warning or chance to catch the bag he'd been holding for her, Scott rushed forward- shuffling past the poor adults chatting politely away. But with the sudden realisation that this was not the way, he stopped sheepishly in his tracks and slowed down to a less threatening pace, and a self-conscious tuck of his tie.

"Hello! I'm Scott."
