~A dance at dawn~
[Open to anyone!!!]
Ariana lay on her back on her bed, staring at the ceiling, wide awake. It was Saturday and all her fellow gryffindors where fast asleep as there were no lessons today. Although Ariana knew that it was still very early in the morning, she was unusually wide awake instead of peacefully asleep. Getting up from her four poster bed, she peaked out her head from the curtains to see if the other girls were still sleeping, and slipping on her trainers she got up and wandered downstairs to the common room. The room was empty, and silent, apart from the soft ticking of the clock and Ariana's quiet breathing. As quietly as she could, she lead herself out of the portrait hole and into the cold, dark corridors of the castle. Her trainers made soft tapping noises on the floor and although the corridors were cold and isolated, Ariana felt quite free and warm and rather glad that she hadn't taken her cloak. She continued on, hoping to find something interesting to do while she waited for everyone to wake up.
She was now on the fourth floor and turning a corner she noticed a certain door that looked slightly open, her curiosity taking over her she pushed the door open and walked in, gasping softly at her surroundings. She was in a ballroom, one decorated so beautifully and elegantly, and in the corner she noticed instruments and a piano. The room was huge and the perfect place to practice dance or anything practical really, so skipping over to the middle, she jumped and did a perfect cartwheel that sent her soft brown hair flying over her face. Standing up, her cheeks flushed with excitement, her bright green eyes danced around the room before she proceeded to do a series of twirls and jumps, pretending that she was dancing with someone. Her eyes closed, she enjoyed the feeling of the air sweeping thought her hair and spun round and round until, *bump* “Ouch!” she was knocked off balance and stumbled slightly. She stabilized herself quickly and her cheeks went red with embarrassment, she cast her eyes immediately to the floor. She heard a soft chuckle and felt her cheeks burn even more, whoever it was had seen her being absolutely, well what was the word?...stupid?

Wren was having another bought of insomnia.
It had been a long day so she had thought she would be tired and collapse into bed, but when she had actually gotten into bed after finishing the last minute homework that was due tomorrow sleep would not come to her. She had tossed and turned for around three hours before deciding to break curfew. She thought she would try and go practice some dancing for the impending Valentine's day dance.
Even though she was without a partner, she would practice her part.
It was around three in the morning when she heard a sound. It was someone entering the room! She hurried to hide behind a pillar, hoping it wasn't a professor.
To her surprise the person that came in was a girl. She had long brown hair and what looked like green eyes. Wren couldn't see them very well being as far away as she was. She breathed a sigh of relief just as the girl started spinning in circles and finally stumbling, and falling to the floor. The girl muttered "ouch" just as Wren hurried to stifle a giggle. Apparently the girl had heard and started blushing, embarrassed someone had seen her stumble. Being the kind of person she was, even though Wren thought what the girl had done, was in her mind, a tad bit stupid she wanted to make sure she was alright.
Coming out of her hiding place, she walked over to the girl.
"Are you alright?" She asked cautiously.

Sage had always wondered what the ballroom looked like, and she could never seem to find it either until now. She didn't expect other people to be in there since there was no event or dance going so she decided to look for it. After a while, she managed to find it and walked in on a girl dancing and her bumping into someone. Her reaction time was delayed, otherwise, she would've warned the girl about the person she was about to bump into. She stepped in the ballroom and looked around in awe, almost instantly wishing she had her sketchbook so she could draw what it looked like.
She looked up at the ceiling as she spun around a bit, completely lost in her thoughts but she was far away from the other students that she wouldn't bump into anyone. Then she looked down back the two students again, watching them talk. She went over to one of the windows and looked out at the snow with a soft smile before finding a bench to sit on and watch the two people talk, she wondered how it would play out. She could tell the one girl was embarrassed while the other one seemed to be holding back a laugh. She shrugged and hoped they wouldn't notice her too much.

Willow loved to wander the castle, she had since she arrived to Hogwarts. In her opinion it was the easiest way to find her way around. Especially to find shortcuts. But she often found herself in the Ballroom, especially around the different holidays when it was decorated. Coming from a muggle life, she could've never imagine decorations looking like they did here. I mean, floating candles? That was just the tip of the iceberg with what magic could do.Interacting with @Sage Miller
She definitely didn't expect other people to be in the ballroom, especially three of them. It was nice to know there were other possible wanderers though. She bounced into the ballroom, taking a second to figure out what was going on. The two in the center seemed to be in the middle of a conversation. But she spotted someone on a bench, also looking onto the conversation. She was also someone that enjoyed people watching, and she assumed that's what the other person was up to. She walked over to the girl, while watching the other two converse. "Hey! Saving this bench seat for anyone?" She paused and extended her hand out, "I'm Willow! It's nice to meet you."

Sage almost stood up to leave when she saw someone walking toward her but she needed to keep making friends. So she stayed put and smiled at the girl. "Hey! Saving this bench seat for anyone?" She heard her say and scooted over a bit.
"No, I suppose you can take that seat." She said with an Irish and English accent and a kind smiled.
The girl extended her hand and introduced herself "I'm Willow! It's nice to meet you."
Sage took her hand and shook it "I'm Sage, a pleasure to meet you. Please, take a seat next to me if you'd like. I'm just people watching, although sometimes I think people think I'm just creepy; watching people all the time." She smiled at Willow. She noticed that Willow was a Hufflepuff and was curious. Most Hufflepuff's she had observed were always happy and really nice. Maybe they could become friends?
Sage looked ahead of her back at the people talking before looking at Willow who she assumed had taken a seat next to her. "Anyways, how are you?" She asked her, trying to seem friendly and wanted to get to know her a bit more. Her thoughts were racing as she tried to think of what to say and what not to say. No less, she would try to be friendly.

Kayden had always come to the ballroom to think. It was quiet, most of the time, and Kayden expected nobody to be in here, as all lessons were off. He had been unable to sleep, so he grabbed a fresh pair of robed and slipped out the door. He encountered a ghost in the hallway, and he conversed for a moment, then the ghost said that he had, "Urgent business" to attend to. Walking into the ballroom, he was surprised to see that he would not be alone. Looking around, he saw two fellow Gryiffindors conversing, both looking flushed. Looking around, he spotted an attractive Ravenclaw in conversation with a Hufflepuff. He had seen the Ravenclaw in the library before, but he had never seen the Hufflpuff. He decided, since he had nothing else to do, he would strike up a conversation. Walking past other tables, he saw the two Gryffindorains laughing. Making friends didn't come quite that easily to Kayden. Or perhaps females just got along better than men. Whatever the case, Kayden walked up to the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff and stuck out he hand. "Hey. I'm Kayden Dragoon. Are you guys first years as well?"

"Hey. I'm Kayden Dragoon. Are you guys first years as well?" Sage heard someone say. She didn't expect anyone else to come up to them and talk to them. She couldn't help but laugh softly when she heard this but then stopped when she saw someone stick out their hand to her.
She looked at Kayden and blushed ever so slightly and nodded "I am at least. I'm Sage, nice to meet you Kayden. Here take a seat, plenty of room on the bench for the three of us." She took his hand and shook it with a soft smile and made room for him on the bench as well. Today must be her lucky day, meeting new people and hopefully making new friends. The two of them seemed nice, Kayden seemed a bit nervous though. Which was okay because she was too. It wasn't every day a boy came up and talked to her. She was kind of curious as to how this would play out. So many people were in there now and she didn't know any of these people but she wanted.
She had to think of what to say and what not to say just so she seemed friendly to others. She didn't want them to think she was weird or crazy.

The not girl Kayden had ever interacted with had been his mother. Kayden made note of how soft and delicate her handshake was. Compared this his fellow Grryfindors, who would almost break his hand in two. He sat down next to them, and for the first time, got s good look at the, both. How he hated his emotions however, he felt his cheeks flush as he saw Sages striking features. Trying desperately to stop, he focused on other things. He had always admired Ravenclaws. Truth be told, that's where he thought he would be placed. He was more of a thinker than a fighter. Everyone told him that the hat saw so,stunt on me that I couldn't. A bunch of rubbish if you ask me. Perhaps they were wrong. Maybe the hat got mixed up. He realized his flush was leaving, and he thanked the Good Dumbledore for it. He didn't want to seem as easily..influenced. Realizing they had been sitting in silence for an awkward seven seconds, he asked, "So. Where did you live before Hogwarts?" He realized his hands were fidgeting nervously, and he force them to stop. He laughed inwardly at himself, realizing this was arond the first time he had talked with a pretty girl.

"I lived in Ireland for about a year and then moved to England where my mother is originally from." She didn't know why the boy was so nervous, but she began to feel her palms sweat and wiped them off beneath her robes. Her accent was thick with an Irish and English accent combined. "My dad was from Ireland, it's quite a long story if I were to say it all. Anyways where are you from Kayden?" She asked him with a kind smile and flipped her hair over her shoulders. Her blushing seemed to increase as his went away and she tried to hide it by looking at Willow and smiling softly at her.
Sage had never really talked to boys before, so she didn't know what to say. Her anxiety was rising with every moment he was by her and she didn't know why. She had talked to some boys but she never had this kind of effect near them. She needed to be careful of what to say and make sure she didn't talk too much. Hopefully, he didn't notice how nervous she was, because if he did and he pointed it out then she would stammer on her words and have no clue what to say.

Willow swung her legs on the chair, introducing herself with a firm handshake to Kayden, "I'm Willow! I'm a first year Hufflepuff." She still felt the need to introduce her house, just in case. She watched the two interact, smiling mischievously as she watched the two get shy and red around the cheeks. She grew up around boys, and often played with them so she wasn't thrown off by talking to them, unlike Sage it seemed. But she thought it was cute.
She loved people watching more than anything, especially when they seem to have a connection right off the bat. She returned the smile that Sage gave her, though a smile wasn't really leaving her face in the first place. She jumped in after Sage stopped speaking, "I've always wanted to go to Ireland. I've heard it's really nice. But my family doesn't travel much. I'm from a very small town in England, called Willen." She looked over to Kayden waiting to hear where he's from. She spoke out of turn but she wanted to give the two a second to collect their shy thoughts.
