Second Year Graduation Party PV2nd Year+Profs C

Night time - 5:30pm

The end of July, the moment that everyone has been waiting for. A brilliant and spectacular conclusion to the Second Year, and a welcoming to the new year - the Third Year, 2019/2020. Marissa had seen that many fellow students were joyous for the end of the year, and because it was a Saturday, they had the entire day to prepare for leaving the castle and joining their families once again. The ‘party’ would be within the Ballroom, with small snacks and refreshments on the side. It was almost time for the event to begin, the time that Marissa had set on the invite slips. If anyone had seen them anyway.

Soon enough, it was time for the Second Year Graduation party to officially initiate. The circular tables were now covered with red, green, yellow and blue tablecloths, a bouquet of flowers of the house’s colours placed in vases in the center of each table. Six chairs accompanied each table with small numbers on each table. Shiny utensils were wrapped in napkins and placed to the right of each seat. Marissa had somehow convinced the house elves to let her borrow all the cutlery an d to make all the students food. Plates were also each table, in stacks on piles, waiting to be grabbed and piled with food. Hopefully the students would claim the tables and leave their coats on the backs of chairs, or simply taking a seat while they go dance on the dance floor.

At the front of the room, underneath the two grand windows that peered out to the Grounds, was a long table covered with a bright purple table cloth, a beautiful contrast to the house colours, as well as the dark walls. The table was filled with various treats and drinks. Pumpkin juice, punch, chocolate-dipped strawberries, chocolate cookies, it was probably on that table if you thought about it. Hopefully, the students wouldn't fill up too quickly on snacks, the house elves were still busy preparing!

The condition of the Ballroom was spotless, and along the beams of the ceiling, bunches of flowers and confetti string decorated the area. This was Marissa’s favourite part about the castle, being rarely visited which allowed her to be alone. Being the only head coordinators was a big part, but she also liked to oversee everything and wanted to bring her entire year together in a farewell party. It felt good to watch others enjoy something that she helped make.

The girl stood by the food table, currently making sure that all the food and drinks were that and presentable. She stood in a dark midnight blue dress, one she had yet to wear since she got it for her birthday this year. The torso looked as if it was night sky itself, fading into the transparent fabric that was covering stars on the dress. The skirt turned out into stars gently as it stopped just above the room, leaving her to capability not to trip over herself.

Her blue eyes scanned the room for certain mistakes that she made, hoping that everything went perfect. She quite doubted that anyone would attend, not even the professors. They were always busy.

Her eyes flickered back to the doors as she waited for her fellow students to join her. Majority of these people probably had no idea that she even existed. A nervous smile settled across her face, as she hoped they would begin to arrive. Maybe she would be dancing on her own tonight.

Open to interactions.

Another ball, another likely fire to squelch. The last time there was a dance, he left the students alone for twenty minutes to deal with a pair of deviants and their little love triangle issue and the kids set the place on fire. It was more trouble than it was worth he felt, dances that is, places where students congregate and their pyromaniac tendencies take over. Solomon was not going to go to this ball, he was going to wash his luxurious hair and let one of the other Professors deal with this one.

Still, curiosity got the better of him. This time the ball was indoors, he lived in the castle. With a knot in his stomach and hesitation in his heart he peered inside the great dance hall. It was well decorated but he was a bit early, there was just one little girl standing there without even a partner. He was not entirely certain if he should feel sorry for her or if he should feel relieved -- in truth he felt a bit of both. The room was not on fire yet

He lifted his hand and gave the little girl a wave, he was not dressed for this ball and even if he was he was going to remain very very far away form whatever 'excitement' or more likely disaster this dance would elicit.

Her face was blank as she walked silently down the corridor. Nothing but the sound of her heels tapping on the floor and the sound of her dress fluttering could be heard as she walked. Hjørdis, who was normally overdressed for any occasion, was actually not that over the top today. She sported a floor length white dress, a watch and a few simple rings. Her hair was left out loose for once. She was not adorned in more jewellery than a Niffler nor did she spend hours getting ready. Most people did not know her well enough to even notice a difference but there was one.

Hjørdis had a sourness in her heart that she did not show on her face. For those who knew her well enough, her family and closest, they would notice it in her fashion. She did not attend the Blossomfest Ball that took place not too long ago. She had some personal matters to attend to. However, the Head of Slytherin silently fumed when she heard about what happened. Hjørdis hated the fact that students were hurt, yet again. Hogwarts was really full of danger, it seemed.

She sadly missed Solomon Lear's presence but she entered the room quietly. The professor was not here to intervene with the party nor was she there to stop it from happening. No. She just wanted to see it for herself and make sure it was safe, for once. She looked around the room, her eyes falling onto a young girl with blonde hair. The look in the girl's eyes was evident. It almost hurt Hjørdis to see how she nervously awaited for her fellow students to arrive. The room was still relatively quiet, which was a good chance for the professor to do a quick scan of the area. Everything was so beautiful decorated. If nothing else, she did have to make a mental note that the party had been nicely organised in the decor, at the very least.

Hjørdis made her way over to the table full of food and drinks, without really engaging in any conversation with anyone for the time being. She had a job to do, after all.

He had promised to come. There was not really a way for Caradoc to deny a request made by one of his badgers. So he had officially planned to pop his head in for just a few minutes and afterwards he'd find his way back to the office. Perhaps even a stroll with some fresh air. The castle was a lovely place, but more than once a week the professor had wished to be outside. Playing some game with his daughter rather than the endless editorial work as a Head of House. Not that he did not enjoyed that. But he just missed his little girl.

He had decided on something a bit more casual for today seeing that if he were to wear his usual tweed, he'd just come across as another stiff and proper, stuck-up professor. Nothing anyone really needed at a party, as brief as his visit might be.

As he entered the room he could tell he was once again earlier than most. While usually with a purpose, this time it seemed he had simply gotten here before anyone had cared to show up. He noticed a slender woman, looking quite young and with white gently flowing down much like her dress would. He would raise his eyebrows slightly to find the Head of Slytherin at the party. Neverthelees he would be glad to finally have a chat with her. As they had not officially made acquaintance up til this point. He reckoned he had come quite late into the professor club compared to most staffmembers.

He also noticed Marissa. One of his badgers, standing there waiting patiently for the first few guests to arrive. He wanted to walk over and congratulate her but felt that this would perhaps embarass her. Much like a parent would when dropping their child of at their gymnastics club or something similar. He decided to give Miss North a nod of recognition along with an encouraging smile as he settled for a drink. He passed the younger professor and took point next to her as he reached over the table to get himself a few sips of the first drink he'd get his hands on.
"Professor Jensen."

Alexx was cautious about these sort of things. She wasn't exactly a party person, nor did she have a reason to attend. But the cautious Slytherin never wasted a single moment. She would only graduate the second year once, right? So, she showed up. This was more of a formal event, so she dressed up for it as well. It wasn't often that Alexx dressed up, so she certainly wouldn't be caught in the same dress that she sported in the Blossom Ball. Instead, she showed up in a burgundy dress that hung around knee-length, perhaps just a mere half an inch shorter, which was backless. She looked rather nice, and the color of her dress complemented her hair quite nicely.

Entering the ballroom, Alexx looked around at those who had shown up. Early? Perhaps so. Professor Jensen was there, as was Marissa North, and then that... Guy. She had interviewed him, yes? What was his purpose again? Alexx couldn't quite recall. While Marissa and Alexx shared the same general friend group, the Slytherin Prefect was slightly more inclined to speak to her Head of House. Regardless of where her preferences lied, she spoke to no one, and instead hung around by the entrance.

She was almost certain that she would leave. Where was the excitement? Perhaps it would be on its way. Humming curiously, her eyes scanned the way in which the room was set up, attempting to make herself look busy. Should she really need to, she would go make small talk with Professor Jensen, though the small talk was not her forte. She would prefer it if a friend showed up, rescuing her from her current state of awkwardness.

It was the one thing that Alexx really dwelled over. How her puberty-stricken figure now hung lanky and unsure, or how her face was inching closer and closer to the teenage breakouts. Alexx was cautious and extremely aware of these things- primarily because she preferred to keep up a good appearance. Some students allowed little green things to sprout behind their ears, and others had an odor beyond compare. Alexx did not wish to join the unhygienic crowed. That would end her.

Briefly considering going to get a drink, Alexx decided against that. She wasn't exactly thirsty, but she needed something to do with her hands. She should have brought a clutch of some sorts to keep herself busy. Maybe one of her friends would show up- like Reid or Ami or- God, anyone. Someone to occupy her. As always, Alexx hadn't thought to encourage her friends to attend the party. She might have considered it, however, she never wanted to seem needy or provoke them in any sense, so she kept her mouth shut. It was a lot easier to just take the initiative and play it by ear versus the fear of coming off as annoying. And besides, what is everyone else thought this party was "lame"? What if no one else did show up? That would be sad, but at least she only had to live through it alone. There would be no one there to curse her for making them attend something boring.

Though Alexx had hope for this party. Most students wanted to get out of their dormitories. Most students would love that. And she certainly did hope that she was right. How could her classmates not wish to attend such a thing? The second year might not be the biggest thing ever; in fact, first and seventh were probably the ones that held those titles. However, a chance to celebrate all that had been accomplished this year could not be missed. Professor Lear had yet to kill anyone, which was always a plus. That was at least something to celebrate if you had nothing else to be joyous about.

As for Alexx, she had plenty of accomplishments that led her here. Things that she thought would be worth her while. Worth recognition. A good student, a good Prefect, an okay-ish Quidditch player (she was learning), and a good friend. This year was great, and nothing could stop her from being just as good, if not better, in the following year. Smiling to herself, she considered the possibilities, noting all the adventures that she now wished to have.

Time it was one of the few things Quinn's second year had given him ample amounts of. And for lack of a better term it was time that he realized was too short. He had lived his whole second year practically ruled by his fear, worry, anxiety, and stress yes stress. It lead him to change who he truly was for someone who didn't matter. It lead him to alienate himself from his closest friends and confidants. But now he realizes he has the control and power over himself.

No longer would he be ruled by his fear. He would be true to himself no matter who tried to make him otherwise. He would be confident and truthful. He was still that short tempered, weird, unique, and boisterous ginger with an attitude after all.
This got a chuckle out of him as he entered the ballroom dressed in the custom tailored Burgundy three piece suit his grandfather got him recently. It had jet black textured tie and dark brown Oxford loafers.

His fiery red auburn hair was done in a low fade and thick lengthy, curly, and wavy fringe cut. Highlighting his sea of freckles as he wore absolutely know makeup highlighting his sea of dark and light freckles on his tanned face. His large bit sharp emerald blue eyes scanned the room finding their target. Ignoring everyone else for the time he strode over to the Slytherin. He immediately hugged Alexx and laughed loudly with a large genuine grin. "Well if ain't Alexx ma favorite snek! Ya look as lovely as the sunset in winter. How are ya!?" He let go undoing the hopefully crushing beer hug. "Now that yours truly is here let's get right down in to some good trouble!" He exclaimed loud enough for both heads of houses to hear. It was a half joke though....

Formal events are not something Hengist is fond of. First was obviously the crowds. Even after two years at Hogwarts, he is still not used to the sheer number of people. Especially in such a small area. Not that Hogwarts is small, far from it. But it seemed small with all the students crammed in the hallways between classes. Secondly was the appearances. Not other people's, his. He hates getting dressy. It feels particularly confining. Lastly was the socializing. Banal chitchat is something he has never been good at and likely never will be.

Honestly, he really would liked to skip this party altogether, but he felt he couldn't. Perhaps shouldn't was a more accurate word. It had been a particularly eventful year, full of ups and downs. He'd made a few new friends as well as grew apart from previous ones. His grades slipped slightly, but he didn't take it too seriously. Knowledge was something that couldn't always be proven with a simple test. Also, he'd been coerced into playing Quidditch...something he had almost no real interest in at the start of the year. Worse still, he found that he actually kind of enjoyed it. Lastly, the trail duels were particularly interesting.

His parents did warn him that there would be more parties and events at school ever since the last dark lord was defeated. They have, so far, been absolutely correct. It was for this reason that they made him bring something formal with him. At least they'd let him choose the outfit, which he went as casual as they would possibly let him. One thing he refuses to do, however, is his hair. Whatever it looks like when he wakes up, that's how it will look throughout the day. This was no exception. With his suit on, he entered the ballroom and found a place to attempt to be as inconspicuous as possible; not easily done with such a wide array of personalities at school.

Heroes don't exist and even if they did, I wouldn't be one.

INTERACTING WITH @Quinn Healy ; OPEN TO INTERACTIONS
At last! A friend to make Alexx seem less awkward. Quinn and Alexx had known one another for a while now, and she didn't mind his company. He had a habit of randomly appearing at events like this and bringing his enthusiasm and love with him. He was a very true Hufflepuff, and Alexx couldn't seem to get enough of those these days. It was as if all of her friends were from the badger house.

Smiling at her friend, she allowed him to hug her (mostly because she was too shocked to stop it), despite his embrace being quite crushing. "Quinn! I'm doing quite well, thank you. I certainly did try to make an effort in an appearance tonight." His compliment did not go unnoticed, but she recognized that after their previous interactions, he might have realized by now that Alexx was a rather awkward individual. "Trouble? Well, that would make things interesting."

A big part of her hoped that he was joking, as a Prefect certainly couldn't be caught in that sort of thing. She had heard of the others getting away with it in the past, but Alexx wasn't interested in taking those kinds of chances. However, she was simply just too nice to tell Quinn "no". So, that being said, she didn't give a straight answer and decided that he was likely joking.

More people were arriving, which made her feel better about the whole thing. It would be nice for her group to expand, of course. Not that Quinn wasn't great on his own, but she genuinely did want to see more people getting out here and celebrating. You're only a second year once, after all. Alexx did note a Ravenclaw boy make his way in, though she paid him no mind. Her eyes, instead, were on the lookout for people that she knew well and felt comfortable with. People such as Quinn.

Smoothing out her dress, though it didn't need any smoothing at all, she turned her attention back to the Hufflepuff. "Would you like to go get a drink? Standing here awkwardly isn't doing the who 'appearance' thing any justice. Besides, I'd never pass up free food." She joked with him, giggling a little bit. She felt so much more at ease being able to talk to someone smoothly without any awkward gaps or pauses in between. It drowned out a lot of her fears about how tonight might go.

Licking her lips, she turned her head back to the door to watch for anyone else to arrive. She hoped that she didn't seem rude, it was just that she felt more comfortable with a crowd to disguise her. She didn't like being entirely visible- it made her uncomfortable. That was odd, considering that she was a Prefect. Someone with a title should be comfortable with that kind of stuff. Not Alexx. She had sort of figured it out by now, but nights when she wasn't technically on duty... When the badge came off, the confidence dripped away.

But she had Quinn. Quinn was an extremely confident person- very loud and present. He had a sort of child-like behavior to him that made Alexx feel extremely comfortable. He lightened the mood. It was a good trait to have, despite what some people might think. Alexx was well aware that some people would consider being childish- or just very flamboyant- to be a bad thing. She didn't think so at all. In fact, she much preferred those people to others. That might have been an odd or unusual fact, considering Alexx might have appeared as rather mature for her age. People might have assumed that she wouldn't be able to stand those people. However, that simply wasn't true.

The room started to fill as newcomers entered the area. Hjørdis noticed a few familiar faces. She did not know all of the students that well, in fairness. Since she rarely had to substitute for a professor, she did not have the privilege of teaching many of them. However, she would definitely recognise members of her house, at the very least. Some others were faces or names that she had seen or come across in her time at the school. One of these people was Alexx. Hjørdis obviously recognised one of her own house's prefects.

From the distance, she observed the students briefly before turning back to the food and drinks in front of her. The table full of food and drinks looked innocent enough. There did not seem to be any alcoholic beverages or anything, which was always a good start. Hjørdis turned to face the man that approached her as she heard her name being spoken. Without a moment's pause, she turned and replied, "Professor Browne. How are you settling in to Hogwarts?" She asked him, prompting some conversation without hesitation. It was almost as though she knew he had been there. Which... well, she did as she spotted him when she was looking around.

Hjørdis poured herself a glass of the punch, deciding to taste test it herself after hearing the rumours and reports from the Blossomfest Ball. She glanced at it for a moment, lightly inhaling the scent of it before taking a sip. She observed Caradoc's outfit, as she did for most people. Appearances were, after all, very important to her. He had dressed rather casually today, it seemed. They had not properly met until this point but even a moment is enough for Hjørdis to pass judgement on someone's appearance. "What do you think?" She asked him, wondering what his opinion was, as she glanced around the room. She indicated that she was asking for his opinion on the party itself with her glance. As it was organised by a member of his house, Hjørdis was curious to get his view on the matter.

"Quite well, nothing to complain about so far." He replied shortly after, a bit startled by the other's rapid reaction. Which he figured was due to her self-proclaimed role of surveyant. He'd smile as he allowed himself a few sips from his drink. "Hmm.." He mused a bit on the second question as he let his eyes dart around the room a little. Marissa's hard work had surely showcased itself in its delivery of a fine looking event. Not that he was even mildly surprised by that. Hufflepuffs throughout the years had always known how to throw a party. He had some very fond memories of a few private "drinks" in his dorms or even the large jamboree they threw at the end of his seventh year. Not to foget that one time they brought an actual badger in to the three broomsticks...

His mind would pull back to Jensen's question. "I think miss North has a knack for these kinds of things as I see how much work she has put in all this." He took another sip and cleared his throat a little. "The punch is quite nice as well." He'd joke in between his drinking as he had just told his first lie of the evening. He never liked punch. His smile would be encouraging and kind as ever though. Just as his eyes would quickly glance over to the lady dressed in white from head to toe. Nora Jensen, as he remembered the name written in his notes. She would appear elegant and beautiful as youth would have it. Yet something behind her eyes told him to be careful. Not that it mattered, he was here to do his work just as much as she would do hers he presumed.

"What about you?" He'd riposte. The man wondered briefly if she'd be one to enjoy events such as these. She certainly knew how to dress for them. He'd turn to face where most of the students would begin to clutter. He recognised young Mr. Healy from his own house. It was nice to see Marissa would not end up being the only badger to represent their house tonight. Although he definitely heard the boy cry out something about trouble, he chose to ignore that for the time being. A former prefect such as Quinn would have to know how to act.
