Oktoberfest Halloween Party Closed

The conclusion to Oktoberfest, the Halloween party, was finally here. It was Halloween night and the party had started in the Ballroom at dusk. The orange hues of the setting sun basked the party in a very Halloween-y glow, a prefect start to the scene.

The Ballroom had been decorated like crazy to fully emulate the Halloween spirit. Black and White spider webs clung to the walls and ceilings with very lifelike and loving acromantula in their spindling. Tiny, stereotypical witches zoomed around the higher parts of the ceiling on tiny brooms and would sweep down to tap children's head, startling them. Blood seemed to seep from the cracks in the walls and around windows, and every once in a while a cool breeze would sweep theough a small area, giving the presiders chills.

The party was already packed with staff members and students alike. The costumes varied greatly from terrifying to adorable and Adelaide was extremely impressed with the kids creativity. Adelaide herself went with something classic, ironic, and was her usual for Halloween every year. She was dressed as a Vampire, with a black, red satin lines clock and full Victorian breeches and vest. Her hair was curled and sweeping, her eyes lined with thick, black eyeliner and her lips painted a brilliant red, with a classic drop of blood at the corner. She always thought it was hilarious to dress as a Vampire, herself being a secret Dhampir and all. It was as if she was blatantly telling everyone her secret and yet no one seemed to catch on. It was also a reflief, it was the one time during the year she did not have to work to hide her fangs behind her smiles and laughs, here everyone would simply think they were fake.

The Ballroom set up was rtaher simple. The main area was mostly empty to allow the students room to congregate and perhaps dance to the Halloween themed music that swept theough the area. Lined on the walls were tables upon tables of food as well as various games.

The food was really a work of art by the House Elves. Each dish was themed. From blood red punch with floating candy eyeballs, to cupcakes with various toppings such as blood stained sugar glass shards, to dismembered gummy body parts and oreo cookie crumble graveyard themes. There were hundreds of cookies cut into bats, witches and ghosts. There was also real food for those that needed a meal. Stuffed peppers carved to look like Jack-o'-lanterns, meatloaf in the shape of heads with ketchup blood. There was something there for everyone.

The students could take a break and eat their food at the tablea located in the corners of the Ballroom.

The games were pretty classic, but nonetheless, fun. There was bobbing for apples, pin the wart on the witch and stake the vampire darts. The kids were certain to not get bored with this many activites.

Adelaide, for now, was circling. She was a chaperone and she wanted to make sure the last event of Oktoberfest went off without complications.

Tonight was the night. A Halloween party! How exciting.
-
As shy as she was, this event got her all hyped. Carefully she stepped in the Ballroom. Nico disguised herself as the vicious Sharknado. She wore a cosy, blue shark onesie wrapped in a white blanket where she drew all kinds of sharks on. With a tap of her wand she managed to make them swim all over the blanket. This costume was the perfect way to hide in plain sight. Or ... something like that. Her arms were replaced by big floppy fins, on her her back she had a dorsal fin and a big floordragging tail. The hood of her onesie had a derpy shark face which looked more adorable than scary. She pulled the shark head hood over her face abit more. People would now only see the bottomhalf of her face and that was perfectly fine. 'Good' she thought to herself.
-
Awkwardly she tapped her 'fins' against her thighs as she looked around. The ceiling was lit in a spooky but gorgeous way, with witches speeding around. One of them zoomed down to startle Nico, making her hood fly off. 'AAAAH!' She quickly made her way to the table with snacks displayed, swiftly pulling her hood back in place. That was too close. There's no need for people to recognise her or for them to notice that they barely saw her around at school. The thought made her panic a little. To soothe her nervous mind she grabbed herself a cupcake. Quietly munching she made her way to a corner, slightly blending in with the shadows. A nice spot to observe the other students and less chance to get spotted.

The Halloween Party was another thing that highly concerned the Head of Slytherin House. It was literally just a party, one where students were meant to have some fun. They could get dressed up, eat lots of good food and hang out with their friends. It was a time to relax, get away from the classes and stress of education. It was just a chance to have fun. At least, that was the plan. That was always the plan. Professors arranged fun activities for the students simply for them to have some fun and relax.

Yet, Hjørdis could not help but worry. After the last ballroom even that ended up in a student deciding it was appropriate to start exploding tables and setting things on fire, she did not trust large events. Well, technically she did not trust much. Students were far too impulsive at times. It was not wise to teach them dangerous spells, yet it was necessary. She just preferred if the reverses and counterspells were taught earlier. Sadly, they were slightly more advanced magic and it was all about control. Students needed to learn that control. This was not strictly to magic and their abilities with spells, either. They needed to learn self-control, which it seemed that not all of them had... Ugh, children. It was hard to find one that was capable these days but she also had limited patience for this. Man, she was a terrible teacher...

Nonetheless, the Slytherin tried. She turned up at the Halloween Party rather early. The room was still rather empty, though it was well stocked with a range of food. She was here to simply make sure that the costume party kicked off with fun - and remained that way. No incidents, hopefully. The female had even gone one step further in her attempts to make the event more enjoyable. She had decided to join the festivities and embrace them as she would hope the students did too. As such, Hjørdis was fully dressed up in a costume of her own.

It was, by no means, scary looking. She was not exactly one for 'scary' looking outfits. She did not get scared of them but she cared far too much about her own looks and appearance to make herself look terrifying on purpose. Instead, the Slytherin Professor had gone with a much more suitable costume for the evening event. She was dressed in a long white dress and a pair of beautiful gold heels with straps going up her calves, though they were covered by the long dress. Although it could not be seen, her wand was held in place by one of her calves with those straps. Hjørdis accessorised her outfit with a gold snake necklace that symbolised her house, a beautiful gold laurel headpiece and a thin gold bangle. Her hair was out but neatly done up. She had created rose shaped patterns in her hair, which had taken a little while to do but the end result paid off. They worked very well with the laurel headpiece that sat above them. Hjørdis had a pair of simple gold earrings on and a bracelet too. It was definitely not scary but her costume for the event was to go as a Greek Goddess.

The Slytherin made her way into the ballroom. Without further ado, she walked up to the Professor of Ancient Runes that she had met a few times before. "Professor Adelaide," She greeted, a little formally with a nod of her head, "Well done on the set up, it looks beautiful," as she stood near her and cast another glance around the room and the decor. She normally addressed people by their surnames. Professor Ayers was an exception in the matter after the lady insisted she called her by her first name.

Thea walked into the room, looking around at her surroundings, trying to not open her mouth in awe. The Ballroom was decorated beautifully, although the real artwork was the food table. The food created by, well, whoever created it, was decorated, with each dish having a theme. Bats, witches, ghosts as snacks and Jack O' Lanterns along with meatloaf for actual, well, dishes.

After tearing her eyes away from the table, she got to see the activities and felt more at home than ever in the huge castle. The activities were classic things she'd play with her peers and her sister back in the muggle world - bopping for apples, a more magical version of pin the tail on the donkey where the donkey was substituted by a witch and its tail by a dart... the only thing she didn't recognize was 'stake the vampire darts', but she assumed it was a wizard-ified version of another muggle game as well.

She sat down at one of the Ballroom's many tables, looking at the people. There wasn't many of them, as it seemed Thea has arrived early. There was a student that dressed up as... what? A shark? Well, they were wearing a shark onesie for sure, and the Hufflepuff couldn't really think of any costumes that'd involve sharks. There were two professors as well, both she didn't recognize. One was a vampire, something classic yet if pulled off well scary, and the other one something that was not scary at all - what appeared to be a Greek Goddess out of all things. Finally, there were many students she didn't know - either older years or very young-looking professors.

She was dressed up as something from Greek Mythology as well, but she decided to go a bit more monster-ish than a Goddess, although it'd probably fit her name better if she decided to follow the professor. The Greek Myths provided a lot of monsters in their stories, more or less scary, depending on what myths you decide to read. Thea decided to go the less scary and more human way, picking a Harpy. Harpies could be scary or not, it depended on the myth.

The Hufflepuff had a golden mask on, shaped like a bird to follow along with harpies being half-women half-birds. She also had a black and gold dress, along with a golden bracelet. For shoes, she decided to go with black sneakers that had small gold wings to the sides. Her hair was tied up into a ponytail so it wouldn't bother the mask but also look natural since the girl didn't really think that Harpies had fancy hair accessories. The most prominent thing about her costume though were the wings.

To complete the look of a half-human half-bird, she decided to strap a pair of golden wings. They weren't too big, but the girl wouldn't mind if they were a little bit smaller, so she wouldn't worry about hitting everyone around her with the golden piece of whatever the wings were made of. Even sitting down was a challenge, as she could easily knock something over while trying to do so.

She looked around again, smiling to herself.

Hogwarts finally felt like home.

Sonya walked into the ballroom with a grin. She loved Halloween and was exited to attend the Halloween party at Hogwarts. She had dressed up as Cinderella from the broadway production of Cinderella. She had to admit, the whole costume was a bit over the top but she still loved it. Her white dress looked lovely, the shoes were really nice, and her hair was in a elegant updo. Dressing up was just so fun and Sonya would do it every day if it were practical. She loved changing things up and getting to transform into another person and that's what Halloween was all about.

She looked around the ballroom. There were a few people, but not many as she had come a bit early. Sonya saw no one she knew yet, so she continued to scan the room. There was Halloween music playing, but nobody seemed to begin to dance yet. She saw various games and activities. They were all classics, she was especially looking forward to bobbing for apples. She noticed the food tables near the walls and walked over to them. The food on the tables were gorgeous, various Halloween themed snacks and treats. She got a plate and put a couple things to try on it. Then she made her way to one of the tables and sat down, taking a bite of a cupcake.

Serena entered the ballroom, after hours of wondering if she should actually bother or not. In truth, she wanted to just crawl into bed and nap instead of being there. However, something changed her mind. She had no idea what or why. She was not entirely sure why she was here, to be quite honest. Perhaps it was because she had missed most of the Blossom Ball... But perhaps that was a good thing. It sounded like a good thing. Nonetheless, she made her way to the Halloween costume party.

She was dressed in a very simple outfit. She did not go over the top with anything - nor was she creative enough to add a lot of gore into her outfit. But she used what she did have: an invisibility cloak gifted by her grandmother. The cloak was precious to her. Without a doubt, it was one of the most prized possessions that she owned. Normally, she would use it to actually turn fully invisible and hide away from wandering eyes.

Today was different. Today, she threw the cloak on but did not put the hood up. She had tied it carefully around her shoulders, allowing it to cover her body entirely. Her head and neck were not covered by the cloak but the rest of her body was. This allowed her to appear like a floating head, though that was definitely not the case. On her face, she added a small amount of make up. She was not creative enough to add a lot or make it super realistic. However, she had used some red coloured ink that she had to add splotches of what could only be made to look like blood. Of course, it was definitely ink but she had tried to make it look like blood running down from her eyes by adding a few drops of the ink under her eyes, allowing them to fall down her cheeks.

Her hands were also covered in the red ink. This was not exactly intentional, it was more a side effect of using the ink to try and add some 'gore' to her appearance. She had tried to wash it off but it did stain her fingers a little. Luckily, they were hidden underneath the cloak and were invisible. Her costume for the event was simply being a floating head with droplets of "blood" coming out of her eyes and mouth.

Looking around the room, she realised she did not actually know anyone there. Serena paused for a moment before turning towards the snacks table. The food was the best reason to be here... She picked up a cupcake and started unwrapping it. As she was doing so, she spotted someone near the table. The student lurked in the shadows, sparking Serena's curiosity. After what happened with the masked man, she did not think it was a good idea to just leave students lurking in the shadows. That being said, the student wore a shark onesie that looked pretty adorable... "Hey, you okay?" Serena made her way over to the student, "Did something happen?" She asked, wondering if she was okay.

Nico noticed how a floating head approached her. What the heck?! Nico felt a little light headed and quickly rest her hand on the nearest pillar. Hold up. Calm down. She swallowed and narrowed her eyes after nearly falling unconcious. After the girl got closer she noticed how it wasn't actually a real floating, decapitated head. It was all make-up. Inky red make-up, in fact. Huh. It certainly was something else than the fancy dresses she saw entering the ballroom earlier. This getting approached only happened one other time and that was with a boy. This time it was a girl.

Slightly panicked she pulled her shark hood more over her head. Apparantly the girl was worried about her. How.. unusual. She took another bite from her cupcake, carefully looking at her from underneath.
'I..I'm fine.' Her face had turned completely red, making it hard for people to figure out where her hair started. Because... Well, her hair was red. Why did this girl suddenly notice her? The illusion in her head of being invisible to everyone had popped and made her worry quite abit.

Nico took a deep breath and carefully looked at the girl. 'This party... is really crowded isn't it?' She asked, while obviously, it was still early. There were only a handful of people. She knew that yet she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. Soon she'd scare the girl off for a reason she wouldn't have control over. That's what anxiety makes you think. Her mind was still a work in pogress but she was trying really hard. Nico didn't want to let the conversation die out so she quickly thought of something else. AHA! Her outfit. This should work fine. 'Your outfit... looks.. really cool!'

Serena blinked as she approached the girl. Her eyebrows frowned, a look of worry falling onto her expressive face. "Hey hey, you sure you're okay?" She asked, reaching out from under the cloak to reveal her stained hands and a bit of her arms suddenly. She did not need to help the girl up, as she managed to find a nearby pillar to lean against, luckily. The Hufflepuff nodded as the girl claimed to be fine. Serena did not want to say that she did not look fine so instead, settled for believing her. She knew all too well that sometimes people just pretended to be okay because it was easier than the truth. Sometimes, they did not want to talk about the truth.

So instead, she stood near her and raised the cupcake that she had picked up earlier to her mouth, taking a bite of it. The girl claimed that the party was crowded but... there were only a small amount of people in the room. Serena blinked some more. She had definitely not considered the party to be 'crowded'. It was rather scarce, compared to many of the events she had attended last year. Perhaps they were very early - or perhaps the students had decided to avoid any more parties and balls after what happened the last time. There was a handful of students and a couple of Professors. That was about it. The redhead's words were odd, given the situation but perhaps an indication as to why she was hiding in the shadows. "There are a few people, yeah..." She agreed, deciding not to question the madness of her words this time.

She paused for a moment before deciding to continue talking, "Is this your first party here?" Serena asked, wondering if the girl was a first year. She had not seen her around before but then again, she had not met everyone in the year so perhaps the girl was another second or third year that she did not know. Serena did not think she looked old enough to be above that, though.

She smiled, "Ah thanks. I didn't really know what else to do... I'm not really one for dressing up." Serena replied, not really into the whole 'fancy dress' thing. She had tried to go a little scary since the theme was Halloween, after all, but did not have much else to work with. "Your onesie is really cute, I love it," She continued honestly, loving the cuteness of the shark outfit. It looked comfortable and warm. If there was anything Serena enjoyed, it was being comfortable and warm - preferably hidden away in bed. The Hufflepuff dorm rooms were fantastic for that, to be quite honest. She was definitely suited to being a Hufflepuff, that was for sure. Their dorm rooms were so cosy, it was unbelievable. Badgers did like being warm and cosy, after all. "I'm Serena, by the way." She introduced herself, not sure if the girl actually would know her. If she was new, perhaps she did not recognise her.

Ember strode through the widely opened doors and into the ballroom, a look on her face that clearly expressed a high amount of confidence. There were only few people who had already entered, meaning a new student arriving drew lots of attention. She smiled.
Her long, tight dress slightly swept around her ankles as she walked. She had thought about which costume to choose for a long time. Even though she was a half-blood, she had spent her entire childhood in her father’s Muggle environment and had celebrated their version of Hallowe’en. But after ten years of festivity and brightly glowing Jack O’Lanterns, she had no idea how to cope with this feast in a wizarding world. All her favourite costumes were completely normal things here. Witches. Ghosts. Vampires.
Nevertheless, the young girl had finally settled on a Dark witch disguise, it looked fantastic anyway. Her long red hair, close to auburn, was pinned into a firm bun and secured with black lilies. Ornaments were carefully drawn onto the sides of her face with black ink, making its slimness even more pronounced than it already was. Beneath a satin mask in deep purple covering her eye area, green irises sparkled in the light of the chandeliers, their color intensified by contact-lenses giving them a snakelike look. The dress made her bony features look even more pronounced. Ember thought she looked more grown-up in it, like a third-year at the least. Small beads and tiny pieces of lace were sown all over it; a modification on which she highly prized herself.
[OOC: Sadly, I couldn’t find anything fitting on the Internet, if I do, I’ll add it here.]
Shooting quick, curious glances at the other people in the room, she walked towards the buffet, taking a ghost-shaped cookie with long purple fingernails and devouring it happily. This was going to be the best night of her life.
Ember quickly sat down on a stool covered in black lace, sipping from a cocktail that would look suspiciously similar to blood from the view of an outsider, and watched the other costumed people slowly file in.

He didn't necessarily want to be here, but he had an Eeyore onesie that he couldn't use just once. What was the point in that? No, he was going to milk it for all it was worth.

That and parties were fantastic gathering grounds of information. In his onesie and happy expression, Elijah was just another faceless student amongst the crowd, which was just what he liked. Tugging his hood over his head, he leaned inconspicuously against the wall towards the back of the ballroom, surveying the scene laid out before him. With great power, after all, comes great responsibility... or, in his case, a great need to eavesdrop and pry on people.

It was rude! Yes! And it was cruel, and mean, and perhaps not morally correct... but who cared about all of that when many, so many rumours could be gleaned from this whole process? He had chaos and mayhem to cause, and he would revel in every moment of it. Something needed to happen at this school, and no matter what, Elijah was determined to stay out of it; of course he didn't want to be caught up in it, he wanted to be the instigator. The evil mastermind behind it all.

Was this why he was in Slytherin?

Carefully, slowly taking a sip of his drink, he let his gaze wander around the party. There wasn't really anyone of much interest quite yet, but he was a good listener. Listener? No, eavesdropper was probably more accurate. The gossip that spread through the castle like a virus was his art, his craft, and he knew how to tame it into doing his doing. There were rumours, tales of fights and fire, tales of a masked boy and the anger towards him.

Rumours only grew in parties. So many ears and mouths in such a small space usually had disastrous consequences, a fire of petty talk that would burn the forest of friendship. Elijah, for one, intended to be the one fanning the flames, adding gasoline to the heat.

A small voice in the back of his mind whispered, But what about Rosie? And what about Rosie? She was sweet, endearing, and the exact opposite of him; and look, she was thriving at Hogwarts, protected by her shield of childish innocence. He didn't have that shield, so he had to create his own, through words and whispers. Boy, this was going to be exciting.
