Event The Fall Ball (Masquerade)

Image posted by the member

As the evening began, and the last light of the sun dipped beneath the crest of the Scottish hills in the distance. The turbulent storm that had been brewing all day was cloaked in the inescapable darkness of the new moon. Its violent presence was heralded only by the bright illumination of intermittent strikes of lightning, followed unhurriedly by drawn-out, broiling thunder. The nonstop patter against the windows was however drowned out by the dulcet sounds of strings, as the orchestra warmed up in preparation for the life that was about to spill into the ballroom.

The atmosphere was unmistakable-- Gothic elegance, uncluttered but effective. The hall was fully lit, but by the warm flickering flame of multitudinous candles. The vast amount may have looked like an unforgivable fire hazard, but through carefully applied magical charms, the flames were completely harmless to the touch. Along the periphery were also a few chairs and tables, though not nearly as many as were in the Rehearsal Room. After all, this was a place for dancing, which one shouldn't do on a full stomach. At least that was the opinion of Flash, who had been given free rein to make such choices.

The organizers of the event had easily discussed how they wanted the evening to be set up, and eventually sanctioned duties to one another. @Pericles Dralt was presiding over the Costume Party, and Flash was taking care of the Masquerade. Neither of them were strangers to balls, nor willfully taking on roles of leadership. The real challenging work, however, had been handed to @Dealla Prince and @Ileen Knight, though that was a secret.

The Ballroom had a singular purpose, to give everyone space and music to dance with one another. There was a massive floor, enough to house the three visiting schools, and the vaulted ceilings perfectly carried the acoustics from the stage where the orchestra played. Students would finally get to spend that romantic evening with the apple of their eye, surrounded by the vague suggestion of danger and intrigue. If one looked closely enough, they would see that the skulls and cobwebs were fake, though convincing enough to set the tone. Steam rolled lazily into the air to fill the room with smells of hot cider and pumpkin juice. Subtle hints of nutmeg, pine, and cinnamon.

Flash went over all the details for hours, checking and re-checking that everything was properly stocked, and was easily accessible. He idly gave the last few assignments to the house elves who tailed behind him as he fidgeted with the way a tray was facing, and how far away from the edge of the table it was. Less than being concerned for how the evening would go, he was becoming impatient in his excitement for their plans to unfurl. With the blessing of the professors in their pockets, and the recent Quidditch win bringing Hogwarts a great deal of worldwide acclaim, Flash had no doubt that the night would be a stellar success. In fact, he hoped the students from abroad might have reason to feel a bit envious, though he would never say so out loud.
As the clock struck the hour, the doors were opened to the public, as many fancily dressed attendees were already eagerly awaiting outside with timidly excited faces. The orchestra was dressed in stylish black suits ornamented by painted-on glow-in-the-dark bones, and with a signal from one of the house elves they struck up their first song. They were instructed to stick to exciting, dramatic songs that would encourage one to glide to the rhythm, as well as evoke a feeling for the season.

Halloween was a special time for witches and wizards, a celebration of magic and the occult. As Flash watched the masked attendees flow in, they were joined by other spectral dancers, ghosts of the castle just far enough out of reach to not be disturbed by the excitable preteens below. Treading along the ballroom floor however was one slightly conspicuous ghost cat, prancing around and batting uselessly at the decorations as its paw phased through. It would have even less to say to anyone who tried to bother it.

Flash sighed lightly, with a smile. Some of the tension was finally released. The work had all been exhaustively done, and all he had to do for the rest of the evening was enjoy himself. He had his friends, awaited his lovely date, and could trust his fellow organizers. His own mask nestled on the bridge of his nose, he hoped Anastasia would recognize him. Masks were a powerful tool for nights such as this, the echos of ancient traditions said that this time of year was when the world of the living and the world of the dead were at their closest. Some believed that wearing masks and costumes protected one from malevolent spirits, but as witches and wizards who were privy to the world of magic, it was only symbolic. That is, unless they were superstitious.

No announcements were made, the students were expected to simply arrive and have fun. Professors and Headmasters were invited as well, of course. The adult presence on the dance floor would not go unnoticed by students who had been looking to start trouble. The room was swiftly becoming filled with the brimming energy of excitement and anticipation. He would say hello to whomever recognized him and felt the urge, but he was waiting for one lady in particular, and would attend the door until she whisked him away.
For your consideration
 • There are two parties going on simultaneously, the Masquerade in the Ballroom and the Costume Party in the Rehearsal Room. Both are on the fourth floor of Hogwarts, so travelling between the two does not take much time. For ease of moderation, please clearly denote when you are going from one to the other. During moderation, this takes a full action.
 • As noted above, there are lit candles around, but they have been enchanted with the Flame-Freezing Charm, and therefore cannot burn the attendees. The flame will feel like a summer breeze, and slightly tickle.
 • For both parties, there is no one enforcing a dress code, you may come wearing whatever you like. Still, as this is a Masquerade, you are encouraged to wear a mask.
 • There is food and drink on the periphery, as well as chairs to sit in, but the ballroom is mostly one big dance floor. With the addition of the visiting schools, you can expect it to be full but not crowded.
 • Ghosts NPCs cannot be touched or manipulated, they are preoccupied with dancing and won't react when spoken to.
 • Keep in mind that there are adults around, so flagrant rule breaking will be noticed. Please don't break rules just to get the Professors' attention, I would like them to get to have fun as well.
 • Only players that are in the index with an approved trunk are allowed to join the main story events.

Event The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Interactions: Open

Today had been the day Jay had been waiting for, the Masquerade, they had thought of going to the costume party first but they peeked inside and decided they were just going to head straight to the masquerade. In the morning Jay had woken up extra early so that they could sneak away to the abandoned toilets and dye their hair green once again. Jay liked to go back to their 'default' hair color during events, besides, a spiky red haired Zorro would be very odd, as if a green haired Zorro wasn't weird already.

As Jay entered the ballroom they saw a few others there, mostly faceless ones. In fact, one could say they were one of the first few people that arrived. They had nothing else to do so here they were, Jay was still surprised they had a date, and this time it wasn't like they wrote a secret admirer letter, no, they actually asked the girl out this time. And now it was just about whether or not she would show up. Due to their pessimistic thoughts they felt that she wouldn't show up, or at least show up to dance with them. A sudden thought hit them, Wait... was I supposed to wait for her by the Ravenclaw common room? Oh merlin... Jay shoved their masked face into their hands, they hoped they weren't doing anything wrong, though at the same time they felt that @Lana Monet wouldn't care much and maybe just say something sassy and be over with it, or maybe not.

They leaned against a wall, looking around the prettyness of the ballroom, it had been decorated quite amazingly. The green haired student wore a rather fancy version of Zorro, they had grown quite fond of the muggle films over the summer. In the last masquerade a certain pretty red-haired girl called them Zorro, Jay was completely confused by this since at the time they didn't know of Zorro.

Jay sighed, they couldn't stop thinking about the girl, they blushed as they thought of her kissing their cheek. It was a memory they weren't going to forget. Now, Jay fiddled with the real rapier sword prop they had found, Zorro had a rapier sword and Jay was fond of such things so they couldn't help but to get one. Sadly, it was extremely dull, you could probably chew on it and be fine- somewhat. Jay became lost in their thoughts.

I’m back. Jay or Deplorable ooc. Owls open for threads.

This wasn't right. Just- this whole idea of throwing a masquerade ball, after children were burned, and nearly stabbed to death at the last one; was simply wrong. And yet, Xailah would be seen going to it. The young Gryffindor had one last score to settle. With a hag. The one that attended two previous parties. The one that lured a few professors into the woods. She was the one that got away, while her two Half-Giant cronies were beaten to death by the children they had tried to take. Yes that one. Xailah couldn't get over the fact that the creature slipped away not once, but twice. But to be fair no one knew that a 5'6" blonde, girl was a hag. Not until it was too late. If Xailah found the the thing tonight, she was going to kill it. Try to at least. She wasn't too keen on the idea of letting the creature get away, for a third time.

Xailah donned the shadows. Her costume this year was arguably more... put together than her last. And quite literally. Xailah continued make her own franken-costumes, just like she had done for former gatherings. Only this time she managed to avoid having a breakdown, before starting her outfits for this year. She stayed true to the cat theme, that she had slowly adopted over the years. It was only appropriate, if not ironic. A black cat mask, made of leftover faux leather from a previous project, covered her whole face. The only part of her face that the mask would allow others to see; was the hazy yellow, and iridescent glow that emitted from her eyes.

A long, layered bustle, dragged behind the girl, like some sort of tail. Her dress consisted of a lot of frill, and a lot of lace. The bustle, and her sleeves were detachable of course, in case she needed to abandoned them. While she did care about her appearance, she also cared about how her eccentric attire could effect those around her in the time of a crisis. She would never lower herself play the part of the burden, or intentional victim. Xailah's wild, mane was not visible- which would make it hard for many, to immediately identify her. It had been tamed, and tucked underneath her mask, with a pin. On her hands, she wore gloves, as per usual. Needles had been sown to the tips of them- she never got around to refining her claw mechanism from the spring ball- which was one of the many things, on her vey long to-do-list. The way she carried, and dressed herself, made one thing clear: Xailah wasn't here to have a good time. Though, she wouldn't be too opposed if someone tried to encourage one.

The young lioness would be very hesitant to step into the ballroom. She had actively avoided the space, ever since the fire that happened inside of it last year. The masquerade seemed like the best place to find a hag- or trouble in general. Judging by past experiences, Hags- like people- were creatures of habit. One was bound to show, considering one had attended two balls previously. Xailah had contemplated going to the Costume Party instead. She was on edge. For their own safety, she needed to avoid other the best she could, on this night. She was curious on the other party though. She was probably going to take a peek at it later. A peek never killed anyone. Xailah would find a lone chair off to the side of the dance floor. That was where she would sit. And wait.

starting from Slytherin Common Room | open to interactions
Ileen had arrived a little earlier than most of her housemates in the Common Room, ready to go to the Masquerade. The young Slytherin wouldn’t admit it but she was nervous. It was not only her first ball ever but also the first event that she had co-organised and she wanted it to be perfect. That was also the reason why she kept a sharp eye on her classmates, who were already around. As she knew these idiots, someone would do something to create chaos, but not if she caught them first…

Although she was tense, she was also very much looking forward to the ball. The preparation with Dee, Peri and Flash had been fun and she wanted to be able to enjoy the evening a bit. Ileen had been very happy when Erik had asked her if they wanted to go together. Otherwise she would have joined alone, but it was much more fun together for sure and it was good to have her best friend from Slytherin at her side. It also gave her a little more time to keep an eye on him, which maybe didn't hurt.
Ileen had really tried hard, done her hair and chosen a nice dress with a matching mask and so she was now waiting for Erik. She wanted to be there early to see the faces of the others when they saw the decorated rooms. Although Ileen had chosen to go to the masquerade ball mainly, she would certainly come to the costume party as well.
As she nervously chewed on her lower lip, her dark eyes glided across the room, full of expectation for the tall blond boy.

As soon as he would show up and they would make their way to the ballroom, Ileen would beam at her friend. “I am so excited! It’s gonna be amazing! I know, last time I said balls are stupid, but this one is different.
When they came into the corridor, she already heard the music. As the entrance of the room came into view and the ghostly light fell on the corridor, Ileen's smile deepened and painted small dimples on her cheeks. Instinctively she looked around. Maybe Dee and Zyk were already there?

As Lucia Fox entered the ballroom, she crowned herself Queen Of Conflicted Emotions. She was hugely excited for the ball, of course - just a look at her ruffled dress, shining mask and pinned-up hair [which was still black, despite pictures to the contrary] would have told anyone that. But she was also hugely nervous. Lots of people seemed to have dates, or were coming with large groups of friends. Lucia, meanwhile, was by herself and looking a little lost as she slid to the side of the ballroom.
The thing about Lucia Fox was that, although she loved the idea of socialisation, she didn't actually particularly like the reality of it. For a fleeting moment, the Hufflepuff wished she had done a Briar, as she had decided to call it, and refused to go at all. Briar had holed herself up in the library, and Lucia couldn't help wishing she'd brought a book or something as well. But then, Lucia squared her shoulders, fiddled with the strap on her bag, and... Stepped dejectedly to the side. She had no idea where any of her friends were, so there was nothing she could really do yet. Goodbye, socialisation! And hello, social awkwardness!
Lucia just hoped that there was someone else here feeling as awkward as she did. Maybe she should have gone to the costume party after all...

Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin had no idea what she was doing, and she knew it. And that was why she whispered to Charles Alluring, who had somehow become her date to this infernal event, "This is your last chance to do the sensible thing and give up. I don't do balls."
Subconsciously, she tried to shove her hands into her pockets but failed. "And why don't dresses ever have enough pockets?!" the muggleborn growled, succeeding in accidentally elbowing her date in the side. "Sorry. You okay?"
Cassie Heather had not really dressed up for the occasion. She had donned the least fancy dress her mother had been able to find, given her face a clean, combed her hair back and left it at that. She had staunchly refused to wear a mask - Cassie was and always would be an honest and blunt person, and masks were not her style. Plus, they itched.
"You look so wierd with the black in your hair," she snickered to Charles, to change the subject. "Although it is actually kinda cool. You should keep it! Or, I don't know, is the dye only temporary?"
Then, the doors opened and chaos broke loose. Cassie found herself swept into the ballroom by the crowd, and grabbed Charles so that he was pulled along with her. "Don't you dare abandon me," she threatened over the top of everyone's heads.

TO SAY SAPPHIRE WAS NOT A PEOPLE PERSON WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. It wasn't necessarily that she didn't like social interaction (she didn't, but that was against the point), but she was absolute trash at it. At the same time, there was a chance it was all in her head and it was because of her anxiety that she thought that way.

One last time before heading to the ballroom, the location in which the ball was being held, she checked herself over. Well, at least if all goes to hell I have a mildly inconspicuous weapon, she thought ruefully. She folded the tessen up, gripping it in her hand and taking a deep breath. I'm totally going to die.

With that thought, the Slytherin girl left her dorm to go to the ballroom, adjusting her mask as she walked. The mask only covered maybe a third of her face, but she'd always been a fan of that type of mask and thought it looked okay. Her eyes were a soft-ish sky blue, which seemed to contrast with her pretty much entirely black-and-white get-up. She tucked her hands behind her back as she walked. Something told her that there would be something happening that night, but it could be anything from mass murder to tripping. Of course, if it DOES turn out to be mass murder which occurs, that would be quite interesting. Call her stupid, but she hoped, just a bit, that something like that would happen.

She sighed, reaching the doors and walking in. She looked around, eyes raking across the mostly empty (of furniture, not of people) room. She would likely just stay on the edges, at least at first until she saw someone she knew. Which wasn't many people. She moved to the wall to her left, standing close to some fake skulls and cobwebs. Shame they aren't real...

As Main Character: Katrina Walker
It had finally arrived. The date of the ball. Pretty much every student in the school had been anticipating the day for as long as it had been announced. Katrina, however, had been dreading it. From her past experience, Hogwarts balls were nothing more than an excuse for everything to go terribly wrong and for a rather large percent of the attendees to wind up in the Hospital Wing. Nonetheless, Katrina was still going.

Not too long ago, Katrina had actually received an owl from someone other than her guardians. From Adonis Thorn, officially inviting her to the Autumn Ball. Like any other school aged girl who received a letter akin to it, she had an internal freak out of emotions. Adonis actually asked her to a ball! There were several moments where Katrina wondered if it was an invitation as friends or as… a couple. But she eventually got over the first bit of jitters and continued with her plan.

Arrive in a fun dress donated to her by her guardians, switch between the formal area and fun area as much as possible, keep an eye out for anything awry, get people out ASAP the instant something went wrong. Just for the night, Katrina had learned Reparifors and Ferula, the only two healing spells that she could learn for now without getting in trouble. And those two spells would be her lifeline of keeping people (and herself) safe.

The afternoon had begun in an old classroom getting herself and other people ready. She had her hair straightened and makeup done. Her nails now matched her newly redone teal streak and her outfit was perfect for the night. She wore a tight fitted long sleeved black shirt that hid her mosp scar and bonussed to keep her warm. The bottom was a plaid grey skirt that hovered just above her knees with a hidden pocket for her wand. Under that, was a pair of tights that fed into combat boots. The look was meant to be stylish yet functional.

Katrina entered the Masquerade area first, she surveyed the area with meticulous eyes. There were a lot of candles. Had everyone not learned? She strode over to them and realized with a brush of her hands that they were harmless. A sigh of relief escaped her.

She took a spot against the wall and leaned against it. A smile already started to pull at her lips, she began to lie to herself that nothing would go wrong. That the night could actually end up alright. There was supervision, safety precautions, and it was a ball-- maybe a bit of romance.

Iris was extatic. The ball had finally arrived. Now it was time to party and have fun and not pass out again. She had spent so long preparing and getting ready and couldn't wait to enjoy the night.

She had spent all day getting prepped. She had temporarily dyed her hair to match her dress, something that her parents were going to hate later, but it was her night, besides, it came out, right? The dress was given to her by her grandparents, it was like and flowy and seemed to ripple around her with every step she took. Her nails were painted white, with her ring finger an opal color that shimmered when the light caught it right. She had flawless makeup and an extravagant mask and couldn't wait to let everyone see her.

When she entered the room, she was taken aback by the amazing decorations, "Amazing," Supposedly it was all student-organized, which was super cool. Iris walked in with the crowd of people, smiling and occasionally waving at a familiar face. She wove through the crowd looking for one person in particular. The boy who had asked her to the ball, Lamik.

October 16th has arrived and with it the Autumn ball another social event that Henry thought he would skip or avoid but instead he was attending and not by himself. Henry Knight was attending the Autumn ball with his girlfriend; Miranda Everest who was the one whom asked him to the event probably because Henry was to anxious and had to much on his mind dealing with his hidden life and family to ask her.
Needless to say, Henry was elastic but also anxious to be attending the ball with Miranda which was probably why he arrived at his dorm three hours before the ball began to get ready. He didn't have any suits but was lucky enough that his older brother; Arthur sent him a pair of his old dress robes that were still in good condition despite the fact that they were a bit long for Henry and kind of pit of style. Still Henry liked them and was more than thankful for his brother for sending it to him, Henry looked at himself in the mirror for a bit before taking a pair of dress shoes from his open trunk and slipping his feet in them, they also belong to his older brother but surprisingly fit Henry pretty well. Henry then took the gold sun rusted pendant from his night stand and place it over his head and hid it underneath his dress robes, he never took that off and he wouldn't start now. Before leaving through Henry took is slytherin dueling team brooch from his messager type bag and pin it on his dress robes in a way so it remained hidden and like the pendant, no one can see it.

Henry then grabbed his black mask and combed his untidy hair back a bit before running over to the ballroom. As he approached it, the twelve year old looked around for Miranda and decided to put his mask on after he met up with her as he stood right in front of the entrance to the ball room with his eyes peered looking for his date.

The night of the ball was here and Charles's plan on having black hair during it failed since the boy had second thoughts on doing it after he already dyed the roots black. So Charles slick back hair was two different colors since the tips were his natural blonde and his roots were dyed black, not like that minded Charles. Anyway after the boy dyed his roots and only had a hour or so to get ready, he arrived back at his room and changed into a formal and fancy suit while his family may ignore the boy, he still got pretty nice things. To go along with it were a pair of brand new black dress shoes that Charles never worse before and fit him on the spot before he grabbed his decorated mask and headed out to the ballroom.

Charles met up with his date Cassie or Cass as Charles called her at the entrance of the ballroom, he smiled at the girl as he spoke " you look beautiful Cass," Charles then heard her reply and gave his signature half smile before speaking " correction you didn't do balls but tonight that changes Cass trust me and plus going to the ball with you was the most sensible thing that I could do," Charles then heard Cassie speak again this time mentioning her pockets so he held is arm out to her before speaking " the flaw of dresses but now I could offer you my hand instead," Charles gave a bit of a joking smile before he started his way inside the ballroom and felt Cassie elbow him a bit in which Charles spoke " no harm done Cass."

Charles heard Cassie mentioned his black hair and smiled at her as he put his head down a bit before looking back at Cassie in her eyes as she spoke again. Charles then spoke " it's only temporary hair dye but I was thinking of dyeing it with more permanent hair dye over the summer holiday if you say it looks cool Cass," Charles then felt Cassie pull him into the ballroom as he looked around at the decorations and detail of everything before hearing Cassie speak. Charles looked at her and took her hand tight in his own as he tied his mask around his head and took care to notice she wasn't wearing one, before leaning into toward her and whispering in her ear " I would never abandon you Cass."

If Falentra enjoyed any season, it was defiantly autumn. The colours this season were beautiful and the chances of the sun showing during the day had lowered. Not only that, but it was a month that people celebrated Halloween. A time where she could wear clothes that most would normally judge her, or at least throw her a weird look.

The Slytherin had entered the masquerade ball as quietly and sneakily as she could. Any form of attention drawn her way was something she tried to avoid. Not only because it meant her striking up numerous conversations, but because she was wearing a dress. They were something she preferred not to wear. Too girly for her liking. But if she was to wear her usual; skinny jeans and a plain old top, it wouldn’t have helped but make her stand out anymore than she felt already.
The dress she wore was black and had a soft silk touch to it. Finishing just above her knees, she had topped it off with a pair of low-cut heels which were too black to match both her dress and vintage/elegant looking mask. It was defiantly her go to colour. Anything that was pink, yellow or really any colour that stood out wasn’t appealing to her eye.

It would have taken her a few minutes to make her way through the crowd that had slowly started to form. Thankfully, it wasn’t too busy yet, but she needed a place that was a bit more quieter where she could stand back and observe.
Her brown hues scanned the crowd before her, watching those who stood out in there pretty, expensive looking outfits. Falentra could only roll her eyes and scoff at those before her. Though, she had to admit there were a few surprising students that wore her favoured colours... it was expected really since it was Halloween and a masquerade ball. Too many bright colours really wouldn’t of fit this setting, or so she thought.

Before she had the chance to hold her judging stares at those before her, she managed to lower her gaze to her nails, already picking at the dark nail polish she applied. She was hoping to find Howard round about now but he was nowhere to be seen. Aurelia and Flash had crossed her mind too of course, but she knew her date was to appear at any point. Rather than raising her gaze once more, she decided to keep it lowered and remain leaning with her back against the wall, hoping he could spot her out from the crowd while wearing such a mask.

Dee had covered most of the distance from the Ravenclaw tower to the ballroom in a run, her long, wavy hair trailing behind her like a flag, not much more tamed than it usually was, as were the fringes of her dress. The soles of her flats slapped on the stone floor lightly as she ran - there was no way Dee would have the patience to pull off heels. They made running a hassle. Maybe she'd taken a bit more time to style her hair than she did usually - the waves less messy, more carefully arranged, a few pins holding the strands out of her face, and a slim, sparkly headband wrapped around her head, holding the rest of her locks back, slim enough to not bother her under her mask. One of her dorm mates had convinced her to let her put some makeup on Dee: There was a touch of sparkly gold around the inner corners of her eyes, a slim trace of eyeliner, some mascara making her eyes look bigger, a little darker. It wasn't much, subtle changes mostly, but her eyes and smile were shining brightly enough to make her seem like she was glowing.

Her mask, cream and golden, was still clutched in her hand, although she would put it on when she'd reached the ballroom. She would take it off and put it on depending on whether they were currently at the Masquerade or the Costume Party, and it was rather likely to get lost at some point of the evening. She'd chosen it to match her 20s flapper-style dress with its cream coloured fabric and golden accents which would catch the light. She loved the dress, no doubt, the way the fringes flew whenever she turned.

Tonight was the night - the one that her, Ileen, Pericles, and Flash had spent the last month and a half planning. It had been a lot of work, but also a lot of fun, and she'd watched with glee as the anticipation around the castle had grown and grown with every day since they had scattered the invitation cards in every room and corridor a month ago. The planning was done, the decorations set up, music was playing, maybe there would even be a surprise for the guests later? It was time to open the doors.

And, of course, Dee was late, as usual. She had been planning to be there right from the start, because although Flash had been chosen to be the main host for the Masquerade and Pericles had taken over the Costume Party, she was still on the team, and still felt responsible for making sure that everything went off without a hitch. There wouldn't be any of the chaos that had consumed the Secret Blossom Ball, not if she had any say in it.

Now only a turn of the corridor away from the ballroom, Dee finally slowed down, then stopped for a second to put on the mask. There were already students streaming towards the Masquerade, from Hogwarts and the other schools alike, and the Ravenclaw immediately started scanning the crowd. Zyk and her had agreed to meet at the entrance of the Masquerade, and she wondered if he was already there. She was... kind of excited, if she was honest. After he had asked her to the ball last month, they had also hung out at the Flag errand which Dee had joined rather reluctantly, and... it had been fun or at least I hope it will have been fun. Enough so that she was looking forward to seeing him now.

She was also keeping an eye out for Ileen, but she knew that her best friend was coming with Erik, who she was much less excited to see. She hadn't talked to the boy after he just hadn't shown up for Ileen's birthday, and while Dee was usually not the type to hold grudges, she was this time - for Ileen's sake. It had only strengthened her already negative impression of him.

But, no matter! She stopped at the door to the Masquerade, bouncing on the balls of her feet, her eyes shining with anticipation. A night of fun and excitement awaited.
