It was somehow satisfying not to have to think about what she was going to do anymore. It had made her feel very insecure, aggressive and it had caused her to say stupid things. Opeila was done with that. She had made a decision and now she would move on to other things. Like schoolwork for example. Her grades had been bad the past weeks and that annoyed her a lot now.
That was why she had gone to the study room: She was eager to catch up with the others. Except potions, there she had been quite a bit ahead of the others, after she had read so many potions books, hoping she could help her mother with it. When she thought back now, it seemed ridiculous. If the St. Mungos hadn't found a solution, how was she, a first year, going to help? What she had read the past weeks was probably basic knowledge to every healer.

Opeila opened her History book and tried to focus. What had been happening with the Gargoyles again? It had been quite a brutal part of history and caused Opeila to feel some sympathy towards the stone figures she hadn't paid any attention to before.
Poor Gargoyles.
Opeila started to write, murmuring some facts to herself.

Gem wasn't at all stressed, and in fact, life was going pretty well.

Or, he tried to convince himself that.
It had been weird, fighting with Rafa, tutoring his ex, dealing with his cat, seeing his ex-best friend in the hallways, and incredibly difficult making music without hearing Leland's sharp, deafening voice tell him it wasn't good enough every. Single. Time. He heard it all over the place, and while he'd hoped it go away soon enough, it just... didn't. Nothing went away, not Jack kissing him, not Rafa getting angry with him, not Cat hating him, not Leland being ugly to him; it didn't go away, it kept him up, made him feel inadequate.

Right, maybe he was stressed.

Heading into the study room, he thought writing some guitar tabs would calm him down. It always did, and just in case it didn't, he brought his notebook to calm him down. He saw a few familiar faces, but it wasn't anyone that stood out very much. He sat in a random seat, next to some small girl with brown hair, and began to flip through the empty lined pages. It wasn't until he looked up (for whatever reason) that he noticed it was Opelia, that girl what was catatonic over that stupid redhead.

For a moment, he wondered if he should say something.
And then he didn't.

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

First, Opeila didn't really realize, who just sat down next to her. Sure, she had noticed that someone did, but she needed a moment to recognize him. She had thought a lot about the courtyard, far too much, but not about Gem Stuart, so it took her a while to remember. The talented Ravenclaw, who was able to brew the Draught of Living Death. Seeing him now confused her a little. If she had met herself in the state, she had been in, she would have avoided herself afterwards. Opeila knew, she had been a total mess out there, and she wasn't proud of her mental breakdown in front of the Ravenclaw.
Then Gem looked up from his book, and Opeila thought, she saw a surprised expression in his eyes. So he didn't sit next to her on purpose. Right. For a moment, he looked like he wanted to say something, but then he just stayed quiet. Opeila wasn't surprised. She would have probably reacted the same way... and then gotten up and left again.
Should she say something? Probably. Opeila thought of the two Slytherin girls, she had been rude to, after they had acted like total dramaqueens. She felt like the greatest hypocrite, and she didn't need anyone to tell her, that she had acted like some dramaqueen herself. But if she didn't say anything now, it would tell the Ravenclaw, how ashamed she was, and she didn't want that either.
"Stuart. I didn't think I'd see you from a smaller distance than ten meters again so soon.", she said quietly, with a little sarcastic tone, but friendly.
One thing she was happy about, was that she didn't look that sick anymore. Sure, things had kept her awake a few more nights, but as long as she kept telling herself, that she was over it, she could at least rest for a few hours every night.
