She took out Hogwarts a History, opened it on the page that she was busy with before she left to come to Hogwarts.
She softly repeated the words in front of her:
" In a small locked tower, never visited by any student at Hogwarts, sits an ancient book that has not been touched by human hands since the four founders placed it there on completion of the castle. Beside the book, which is bound in peeling black dragon-hide, stands a small silver inkpot and from this protrudes a long, faded quill. These are the Quill of Acceptance and the Book of Admittance and they constitute the only process by which students are selected for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." She contemplated these words. The four founders were some of the most powerful wizards and witches, how was it possible for them to create such magic she wondered. It was old but still upheld how learners got chosen for Hogwarts.
A thought crossed her mind, she had heard of the other magical schools within the world. There are eleven long-established and prestigious wizarding schools worldwide, all of which are registered with the International Confederation of Wizards. She wondered how their students got picked and whether the founders of Hogwarts knew the founders of those schools.
Loneliness followed her around like an old friend ready to receive her.
