Her sudden lack of enthusiasm threw him off. Did he do something wrong, did she feel unwell? It was odd to see the raging waves suddenly calm down and break on the shore. What had happened? Remy tried to track back his actions and find the fault in the code. Where did he break the excitement off her? He couldn't find anything drastic that would suddenly flatten her expressive self. Did they just change places? Was he possessed by Dinara Lucey? Maybe he was an android, but she seemed to have the power to possess people. No wonder everything she did was so contagious!
He wasn't dense enough to miss her weak, shaky voice. She thought of it as playing chess, Remy saw it more like a game of Jenga. He'd always pull a piece off and the tower would start shaking. He was only waiting for the moment that it would all come down crumbling and collapse and he'd lose the game. Not on his watch! Remy Alto would lose nothing, ever. If he did, he sure wouldn't admit it. The boy observed her carefully, loosening the grip on his newfound love named gift from Dinara Lucey. He was smitten by the gift, what had happened?
She pointed at him like she was accusing him of something. And she sure did, accusing him of not liking hugs. The raven-headed boy made a dramatic gasp, clutching his shirt where his heart would be again. How dare this young lady accuse him of such treason! He placed her work on the table next to them and crossed his arms defensively too. He did not like physical contact, that was true, but only when it wasn't initiated by him. Remy was very careful of any physical contact. Raised arms for high-fives would make him flinch, playful punches would earn a Bruce Lee pose from him, ready to kick some backsides. His history wasn't that grim or anything that would trigger this. He wasn't entirely sure why he was hardwired this way either.
Maybe Remy just didn't trust the world in general. After all, he liked to repeat this one motto. 'Trust no one, not even yourself'. He was aware that he owned a rather poor sense of judgment and was a bit impulsive. That's why he was extremely careful about everything. He couldn't spiral out of control now, could he? The boy was even more surprised and even a little bit hurt when she offered to take her gift back and unsew the cute patch that he had made for him. Remy aggressively shook his head in denial. No way, this was his now. He'd give her present later on too. She told him that he would probably get many Christmas presents this year. That wasn't what he was concerned about, he wasn't concerned about the physical stuff at all. Sure, it was nice to get a new pluck for your guitar or something, but that wasn't the point. Christmas was about the spirit, right?
"That's not going- what do you mean? I like it more than any present I've received!" the boy huffed. It was the first time that anyone had made a present for himself themselves. Pouring all those drops of blood, sweat, and tears in this work. Okay, perhaps he was dramatizing the process of knitting and other crafts, but it must have taken lots of time from her. The boy sunk in his seat in the same manner as his heart did. Why would she suspect him of being that heartless? He was just an ordinary boy, not some special one like she claimed. Upon hearing her confirm that hugs were nice, he took a deep breath, puffed his chest and was ready to go to battle. Almost.
He wrapped his arms lightly enough to give her space to wiggle out in case she didn't feel comfortable enough. Since he was so tall, he had to awkwardly lean his head on hers as he tried to radiate his grateful and a bit pissed energy toward her. "This is for the gift! I've got one for you too but it's not with me right now," Remy's tone was mismatched with his gesture and words. He made it sound like his gift was some kind of a death threat or an ominous end to the life of Dinara Lucey.
