Her sudden lack of enthusiasm threw him off. Did he do something wrong, did she feel unwell? It was odd to see the raging waves suddenly calm down and break on the shore. What had happened? Remy tried to track back his actions and find the fault in the code. Where did he break the excitement off her? He couldn't find anything drastic that would suddenly flatten her expressive self. Did they just change places? Was he possessed by Dinara Lucey? Maybe he was an android, but she seemed to have the power to possess people. No wonder everything she did was so contagious!

He wasn't dense enough to miss her weak, shaky voice. She thought of it as playing chess, Remy saw it more like a game of Jenga. He'd always pull a piece off and the tower would start shaking. He was only waiting for the moment that it would all come down crumbling and collapse and he'd lose the game. Not on his watch! Remy Alto would lose nothing, ever. If he did, he sure wouldn't admit it. The boy observed her carefully, loosening the grip on his newfound love named gift from Dinara Lucey. He was smitten by the gift, what had happened?

She pointed at him like she was accusing him of something. And she sure did, accusing him of not liking hugs. The raven-headed boy made a dramatic gasp, clutching his shirt where his heart would be again. How dare this young lady accuse him of such treason! He placed her work on the table next to them and crossed his arms defensively too. He did not like physical contact, that was true, but only when it wasn't initiated by him. Remy was very careful of any physical contact. Raised arms for high-fives would make him flinch, playful punches would earn a Bruce Lee pose from him, ready to kick some backsides. His history wasn't that grim or anything that would trigger this. He wasn't entirely sure why he was hardwired this way either.

Maybe Remy just didn't trust the world in general. After all, he liked to repeat this one motto. 'Trust no one, not even yourself'. He was aware that he owned a rather poor sense of judgment and was a bit impulsive. That's why he was extremely careful about everything. He couldn't spiral out of control now, could he? The boy was even more surprised and even a little bit hurt when she offered to take her gift back and unsew the cute patch that he had made for him. Remy aggressively shook his head in denial. No way, this was his now. He'd give her present later on too. She told him that he would probably get many Christmas presents this year. That wasn't what he was concerned about, he wasn't concerned about the physical stuff at all. Sure, it was nice to get a new pluck for your guitar or something, but that wasn't the point. Christmas was about the spirit, right?

"That's not going- what do you mean? I like it more than any present I've received!" the boy huffed. It was the first time that anyone had made a present for himself themselves. Pouring all those drops of blood, sweat, and tears in this work. Okay, perhaps he was dramatizing the process of knitting and other crafts, but it must have taken lots of time from her. The boy sunk in his seat in the same manner as his heart did. Why would she suspect him of being that heartless? He was just an ordinary boy, not some special one like she claimed. Upon hearing her confirm that hugs were nice, he took a deep breath, puffed his chest and was ready to go to battle. Almost.

He wrapped his arms lightly enough to give her space to wiggle out in case she didn't feel comfortable enough. Since he was so tall, he had to awkwardly lean his head on hers as he tried to radiate his grateful and a bit pissed energy toward her. "This is for the gift! I've got one for you too but it's not with me right now," Remy's tone was mismatched with his gesture and words. He made it sound like his gift was some kind of a death threat or an ominous end to the life of Dinara Lucey.

Her eyes widened in surprise at Remy's little outburst. It was a great honor for someone to say that of the many gifts that they received, they actually liked Dinara's little sweater best. Feeling incredibly flattered and reeling back in shock, she smiled gratefully at him. It was weird, but perhaps this dramatic and more expressive side of Remy was actually him letting down his walls, allowing Dinara to catch a glimpse of who he truly was.

The other thing that shocked her and left her rather flabbergasted was unexpectedly being engulfed in warmth that Dinara would never have thought possible from the ice-cold boy. Her brain seemed to have stopped functioning as she felt his head rest against hers, and Dinara simply stood limply for a good minute or so. How could she not have seen this coming? That was why Remy had posed the seemingly random question to her! Even then, it really was uncharacteristic of the male to be so affectionate.

Having regained her senses, Dinara slowly wrapped her arms around Remy's torso as well, the beam on her face hidden as she buried her face into his chest. It wasn't intentional, it just so happened that their height gap had conveniently positioned her face to be directly in front of his chest. Besides, Dinara didn't want her rival to see her smiling so widely from something as simple as a hug.

Although the boy's arms were very loosely hung about her small frame, Dinara had no qualms about squeezing her arms firmly about her boy -- though her definition of 'firm' was by no means anywhere painful or uncomfortable for others considering her tiny frame. It was oddly comforting, Dinara would've never suspected that being held by the ice-giant that she had come to know as Remy Alto would feel so warm and comfortable.

Perking up at his words, Dinara cocked her head as she craned her neck to look up at him. "A present? For me? Really?" With every question, she tilted her head to the other side and stood on her tip-toes in an attempt to get even closer to Remy's face, almost as if she could sniff out how genuine he was being. She had completely ignored his almost fierce tone as he spoke to her, choosing to only focus on his mention of a 'gift' of sorts. What could this gift possibly be?

Squeezing her palm against Remy's robes and clutching it tightly, Dinara wasn't about to let go anytime soon. Her mind was solely focused on trying to figure out what Remy could have possibly bought for her, her brown eyes staring straight into his jet black ones. Unlike her usual bright and somewhat cheeky eyes, there was a gentle softness to her gaze that was quite rarely seen from Dinara Lucey; her hazel eyes clear as the flames gently illuminated the Study Room.

At first, there was no response from her side and Remy was convinced that he shouldn't have done this. Remy was about to give up and slide his arms back to his sides. After a good couple of seconds packed with confusion and unsureness, the arms of the little girl slithered around him in the end anyway. Unlike his soft and loose, a bit discouraging arms around her, she decided to squeeze him. The squeeze didn't make him feel like it was an assassination attempt from her part. Remy felt like it was rather reassuring and he felt rather safe. Like there was nothing that could harm him right now. The boy often lived in a state of uncertainty and felt like the world was antagonizing. He felt like he always needed to be prepared for some collision. It was a nice change for a while to feel nothing like that.

He stayed there for a while, allowing her to do whatever she wanted. Bury her head into his chest? Go for it. He didn't care for now. Regardless of what he liked to act that he was, tough and cold, he was very rowdy and touchy-feely. It didn't mean shoving people around only, he loved to roughhouse and give tight hugs too. Squeeze the life-force out of people. There was a certain gracefulness that he lacked, he was reckless and destructive. However, there was still softness that he usually liked to hide. He wasn't entirely sure why he was hiding these things about himself nor was he sure why he was showing them to this girl specifically. Maybe she had managed to tear a little piece from his wall of resistance and he rewarded her for the relief he got out of it.

When she craned her neck to see him better, he tried to loosen his grip and step back. With her firm grip on his robes, he couldn't do it despite all of his tries. Giving in, he stood there and tried to divert his eyes from the girl's piercing eyes. At this point, he had calmed down too and didn't feel the need to start shouting like he usually did. She stood on her tippy toes as if just to please his ego about his tallness and her relative shortness. It wasn't like she lacked something essential that he had, but that's exactly how Remy Alto and his larger than himself ego saw it.

She kept on hanging to his robes for her dear life. It almost felt like if Dinara let go, she'd die from the lack of robe-xygen. The girl questioned if he really had a gift for her and Remy didn't know how to take this. Should he be insulted, cross his hands over his chest defensively and click his tongue in dismay? He wasn't that cold, he knew the joy of giving that the month December brought with it.
Or should he just give her a grin and a prideful 'yes, really'?

He opted for something between them, a smile spreading across his lips and coolly standing there in silence for a while. "What do you take me as? Of course I did," Remy huffed quietly. He would have crossed his arms had she not been in the way with her whole body. Noticing her curious eyes scanning him, Remy shook his head slowly like a parent telling a toddler no. "Tsk, nuh-uh. I'm not telling you what it is. You'll just have to wait until you find out," the boy said. He suddenly became awfully insecure about his present for her. Would it be just as cool as what she gave to him? Surely he wouldn't get a similar kind of reaction and a bit lame but overall nice and heartwarming hug.

It was only when her nails starting digging into the palms of her own hand that Dinara realised just how hard she had been gripping Remy's robes. Quickly loosening her grip and stepping away in embarrassment, her eyes widened in alarm as she noticed the marks that she had left on his robes. Silently praying that he wouldn't notice it, she let out a sheepish laugh as she backed off.

Her eyes darted to the side as he spoke. It's not that she didn't think Remy was a good person, it's just that she had been rather insecure about how the boy viewed her. In stark contrast to her usual confident demeanor, Dinara Lucey was actually just a young girl who was trying to impress her newfound friend. Or rival. In fact, she actually felt rather flattered that someone as seemingly 'cool' as Remy would be willing to spare his time for her! Of course, this little piece of news would never see the light of day as long as Dinara's hair remained curly.

Unsure of how to react and suddenly incredibly hyper-aware of just how long she had kept her arms on Remy, she shuffled her feet in a poor attempt to hide her nerves. Even the oversized robes couldn't mask how fidgety the girl had become, her robes dragging to and fro about the carpet as she rocked on the soles of her feet. Any perfectly logical person would have figured that this probably wasn't the best idea -- as if Dinara Lucey herself wasn't enough of a walking hazard, both to herself and to others.

The girl was incredibly confused. It seemed as though every time that she was around Remy, her brain just absolutely shuts down. This further reinforced her little theory that Remy was very much an android. Perhaps, at this very moment, he was hacking into her brain! Her internal monologue somehow resulted in a gasp escaping her lips and her jumping backward with a look of dawning realisation sweeping over her features.

Her rocking motion eventually resulted in the long trail of robe snagging in her shoes. Losing her balance (and also her composure), Dinara shrieked with all the might of her tiny body; reaching decibels that would likely have rivaled that of a live rock band. Catapulting straight towards Remy's wiry frame, she squeezed her eyes shut as she braced herself for impact.

Little did she know, as this very moment, this disaster would leave them entangled in an even bigger mess. Quite literally, in fact.

As Dinara fell, a bright pink ball of yarn (which had previously found itself tangled rather comfortably in her already messy curls) followed along with her, unraveling almost as fast as Dinara fell. The yarn circled around her small frame, binding itself about her. If Dinara herself hadn't been the one that was caught in the situation, she would have very much found it incredibly comedic. Flailing helplessly like a mermaid out of water, Dinara shrieked once again, the frustration and anger evident on her face.

"Why does this keep HAPPENING TO ME?"

Once again, she struggled as hard as she could, rolling in an attempt to get out of the mess that she was in. While her gallant efforts did result in her rolling off Remy and lifting her weight off him,tThis didn't help the situation in the least; in fact, more and more threads of yarn got sucked into the vortex that was Dinara Lucey. The end result was a small, angry lioness bound by multi-colored balls of yarn, clawing wildly at the yarn like some enraged beast.

OOC: I'm so sorry this took so long! Been caught up with real life :')
