Loren was sitting in Study Hall hopelessly trying to make sense of the defense against the dark arts rubbish, that she hated so much. She was doing so well in almost all of her classes except defense against the dark arts.

She was smart at least she thought she was and yet every time they tried a new spell in defense against the dark arts it always went bad.Her most recently accident was she caught her partners robe on fire... It had been a Slytherin boy. One things hated about defense against the dark arts is that, that class was with Slytherin and she was such a pathetic jumbled mess when it came to talking to people even about the simplest things.

A Gryffindor walked by and said her book was upside down. To not look dumb she claimed she had known and then turned the book over and even when the words happen to make sense it was impossible to understand.

She hoped someone, anyone would want to be her study partner because though she hated how people commented about not knowing my family had a daughter she needed help. Loren has no friends and welsh is rather dumb when it comes to anything other than classes. She hated it. she looked up as a new group of students was walking in.

Allie walked into the Study Room carrying a large stack of books. She quickly maneuvered to a table so she could put the down before she dropped them. She had almost made it when the books fell to the floor with a loud THUNK! She rushed to pick them all up, her face flushing when she saw a girl sitting at the table staring at her. Allie tried to smile. "Hi!" She said in a cheerful voice, although it was nothing like she was feeling right then. "I'm Allie Lewis." She wanted to meet as many new people at Hogwarts as she could because she didn't like the feeling of seeing someone and not knowing their name. Allie noticed the yellow and black edges of the girl's school uniform and added, "You're in Hufflepuff? I'm Ravenclaw." There were only a few books on the floor now and she grabbed them and set them onto the table in a neat stack just like they had been before she dropped them. Allie plucked a book off the top of the tall pile and read the title, then flipped it open to the first page. It was one of the new ones she had gotten from the library after finishing all her school books for the third time. She glanced up at the girl again, waiting for a reply.

She watched the girl with the mountain high stack of books and thought, (why on earth does she have so many). Then the entire stack toppled to the floor and she watched the girl pick them up. Then the girl said ["Hi! I'm Allie Lewis"]. she also mentioned that she was in Ravenclaw so Loren said quietly ["I'm Loren Alexander"] she said giving Allie a shy smile. Loren got up and went to attempt and help her with the books, and she realized these were all books that weren't for any of the classes for first years. So she asked tentatively ["Why do you have all these books?"]. The girl was definitely a Ravenclaw, she knew the stereotypes of Ravenclaws; bookworms but very clever and respectable. She liked this girl already.

She stood up after picking up a stack of the girls books and asked quietly with her head bent around the books so she could see her face, ["would you like to sit with me?"].

Once all of her books were safely on the table in a tall stack, Allie turned back to the girl. "Thanks for helping me," Allie said, giving Loren a small smile. "Oh, and I just got all of these books from the Library before I came in here. I was heading up to my dorm to start reading them, but they started to tilt and so I went into the first room I saw to put them down. Luckily, it was this room. . ." she said, all in a rush. "But I guess I can read them here as well." Allie added after Loren asked if she wanted to sit with her. Allie smiled and nodded.

Allie liked to meet new people, especially people in different houses because they were so different than her. It was fun to see how others react or do things in other ways than she did, because it gave her a new way to look at the world.

"What are you doing?" she asked Loren, sitting down in the comfy chair beside her and glancing at Loren's book and parchment and seeing the notes. "Defense against the Dark Arts work? Cool!" she said, excitedly. "That's one of my favorite subjects! Along with a bunch of others, of course," Allie said with a small laugh.

Loren gasped. "Defense against the dark arts?! Really, but it's so much more difficult than any of the other classes". Allie was smart and she knew it. Loren pulled out some more parchment and started doodling and as she did so she watched Allie take the chair beside her.

"You must really like to read" she said curious is to why anyone would read more books than necessary, but then again Ravenclaws were known for being clever and smart and in Allies case well read. She found it interesting how Allie could plop right down and just start reading but then again Loren had never really been good at reading.

"So" she said "What other subjects do you like besides Defense Against The Dark Arts, I personally prefer potions as it is the only class I am passing currently but you seemed to be very smart." she enquired. She picked up one of the books off of the girls stack and read "Magical herb and Fungi". *Isn't this a 3rd year book* she thought to herself and put the book back onto of the stack. Thinking the entire time how could anybody other than the herbology professor find plants interesting even if they are magical.

"Oh," Allie said, shrugging. "I mean, I guess it's kind of hard, but I feel like if you study a lot it makes more sense. At least that's what I did." She didn't like to sound like she was bragging, and she added, "Yeah, I love to read! It makes me feel like I can go anywhere, do ANYTHING!" Allie said, getting excited like she always did when she was talking about books.

"And I like every subject, really. Potions is quite fun, I love making new things and stuff like that. If you want. . ." she added shyly. "I can help you with some of your school work. I really want to be a professor at Hogwarts someday as well."

Allie smiled sheepishly when she saw the book Loren had picked up. "I found that one in the Library yesterday. Want to read it?" Allie smiled, guessing Loren's answer before she even said a word. "But you don't have to, of course. I just like to try and find out everything I can about all our subjects so that I am prepared for each class, you know? I really, really hate to be behind in things." Allie rambled on, unaware of anything else.

She jumped at the mention of help. "Really!? That would be awesome!". She thought about how this could help her so much. "Also, wow" she said "I think its cool that you have that much dedication". She reached up and twisted a strand of her hair around her finger while thinking.

"So what subjects are your strong points because mine are well none of them". But she was very grateful that she had sat with her because it is definitely tough for loren on her own

"Okay, I'm glad I can help!" Allie replied, giving Loren a huge smile. She loved to help other people with their homework and stuff, so she couldn't wait! "Thanks," she added, after Loren complimented her on her dedication. "I have wanted to be a Hogwarts professor for, well, ever."

Then Allie thought for a little bit. "I'm not sure which subject is my strongest, because, well, I'm doing well in most of them." She said sheepishly, blushing. She hoped she wasn't bragging. "Sorry," she added quickly. "I don't mean to brag." Allie hated when other people bragged about things, so she always tried not to do it herself, although she still did it on accident many times.

"But I do like Transfiguration and Astronomy. Those are probably my favorite. . ." She paused. "And don't worry. I can help with your schoolwork, and hopefully things will make sense later. . ." Then she looked at the time and gasped. "Oh! I have to go, so sorry! When can I talk to you again? It was really nice meeting you Loren!" She said, all in a rush, the words mixing together in a blur. "I'm so sorry," Allie said again, wishing she didn't have to go. "See you later?" She asked with a half wave and a smile.
