The snowball fight had taken a physical toll on Anatole. He had tripped in the snow face-first multiple times and his hands were almost completely numb. Parts of his body ached where he never felt it before. His winter coat was even dirtier than before. As he inched up the stairs, anxious for a place he could investigate his current condition, he sighed. The halls were empty since everyone else was out and about, most of them still enjoying the weather.

With a loud groan, Anatole opened the door to the lavatory. The mirror was cracked, slightly distorting his image. He peered at his reflection, and it revealed a large, flushed red spot on his cheek. Must have been from where Claryssa whacked him with a snowball.

At least he successfully got revenge.

The bathroom always seemed empty. It was one of those things no one dared to speak of. Well, not necessarily the bathroom. It could be the Lavatory, the Loo, the Pot, or even, "The Room That Shall Not Be Named" (in fear of having people laughing at it). You know eleven-year-olds.

It was even a little creepy in here. The Lavatory was certainly not one of the cleanest rooms in the school, nor was it the best.

But for once, there were footsteps in this wretched place...that weren't Anatole's.

It was just his luck that a snowball fight had happened.

Midas had went to the bathroom simply to recover. He didn't need to use it at all - all he wanted to was hide.

"Agh..." Midas accidentally said out loud.

After being pegged multiple times by snowballs, Midas had bruises all over his body.

He had gone outside merely to experience the snow, and was then attacked by a flurry of snowballs. He hadn't even known about a snowball fight - just that it was snowing, and he wanted to see.

Unknowing of someone else in the bathroom,  he limped over to the sink,  and washed his face with warm water.

"It's eerily quiet here... Too quiet.." thought Midas "I thought I heard something in here before. .."

Walking down the stalls,  he looked around in case something was in here - like a ghost. Ghosts popped up in the worst of times,  like when you were trying to sleep,  or trying to study.

"H - hello - o?" whispered Midas.

No response.  This only scared him more.

Suddenly,  he heard some sort of sound in one of the stalls. Someone was definitely here.

Taking out is wand, he whispered "Lumos" for light,  and looked around using it.

He walked to a stall where he believed the sound originated from, and the door creaked open. Nothing in there.

He walked to the next stall, and tried to open the door.  It was locked.

Midas stepped back and looked around

"I - i know your - r in there... " he stammered.

Holding his wand out,  he whispered "Alohomora", and the door clicked open...

While many were out and about enjoying the snowy grounds, Zed had elected to stay inside where it was warm. He was never a fan a big fan of the cold weather. Between playing out in the chilly weather and enjoying the warm embrace of warmth from a crackling fire in the common room, he'd go with the later any day. Unfortunately, there was only so much he could do in the Gryffindor common room till boredom took over. It still wasn't enough to make him want to go out, but it was enough to get him out of the common room and wander around the castle.

He found himself on the fifth floor when he felt the need to relieve himself. It wasn't like he really had to go, but he already wasn't far from the boy's bathroom on that very floor, he figured he might as well get it over with. Zed wasn't sure what state it was in, but he didn't really care at the moment. He just needed to pee and then he'd be on his way.

Zed entered the lavatory and immediately grimaced at state of it. It was worse than he had thought. Everything looked old and dirty. While probably everything in the castle was just as old, if not older, the lavatory looked to be the only one affected by the years. He wondered if the castle's caretakers ever bothered with cleaning the place.

His eyes were drawn to the source of cool light in the room and was startled to find that he wasn't quite alone. There stood before one of the stalls was a brown-haired student who appeared to be his age. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously as he noticed the boy had his wand was poised towards a closed stall.

"What are you doing?" Zed asked, stepping further inside the bathroom. "It's rude to try and peep on someone who's using the loo."

Anatole came out, since he had woven behind parts of the stalls exploring. Immediately, he saw two new faces, one interested, one ticked off. Once again, he knew this wouldn't be good, so he played it like normal. Keeping it polite like he had been instructed. "Well, this is nice and awkward, isn't it?" Anatole laughed, washing his hands. No, he didn't go, but there was some stuff back there he had touched that didn't want to be touched;the items were too gross.

With a pump of soap, he brought in another comment. "I agree that it's a little bit weird to go peeping, but we're all guys, aren't we? At least, I hope both of you are," he chuckled. After drying his hands, he went back to investigating his face. Apparently something had got on his neck, too. Maybe his nose was bleeding? There was terrible light to determine much anyways. "Good news is no one's in there, and if so, they'd probably have their back to you." He was trying to make conversation in a room that wasn't supposed to be discussed about, where you weren't supposed to talk because it would be extremely awkward, and just plain gross.

Anatole sat up on the sink after investigating, hoping it wouldn't crumble up on him like half the items in the room.

Midas spun around, looking for the origin of the voice he heard. Could it have been a ghost talking to him? He held out his wand, and sparks flew out from it, almost as it could sense his surprise. Then, Midas saw a boy at the entrance of the bathroom.

Run calling what the boy had said, Midas asked "What do you mean about peeking on someone?"e, rather confused. "Didn't you hear? There's a snowball fight outside."

"If you see snow outside, I think it's pretty obvious there is going to be a snowball fight outside. Anyway, who would stay in a bathroom when there's a snowball fight outside?"

"Unless you don't like that stuff..." Midas immediately thought after he finished his sentence.

The boy immediatley raised his eyebrows, and Midas realized he himself was staying in a bathroom during a snowball fight. He hastily said "Umm... So uh... I got hit by snowballs quite a few times, so I'm staying inside for now", while pointing to his bruises.

"Not only that, but these bathrooms are disgusting, so who would actually use them?"

Upon saying this, another boy walked out of the stalls and made a rather awkward speech which Midas wasn't really listening to for he had felt rather stupid after the boy walked out of the stalls.

He also realized that though he had been in the bathroom for several minutes, he hadn't heard a toilet flush or anything, so he wondered what the boy was doing in the bathroom.

Midas then noticed that this boy had a bruise on his cheek. "Err... Where'd you get that bruise from?"

Zed raised an eyebrow at the brown-haired boy's answer, confusion evident on his words and expression. Perhaps the boy hadn't been trying to peep after all. He shrugged at his mention of a snowball fight. How was he supposed to know having been inside for majority of the day? Although, he supposed the boy's logic did make sense. Snow plus kids did equal to snowball fights.

"Not a big fan of snow," he admitted at the boy's afterthought. The very thought of it made him want to shiver yet at the same time, it did seem like it would've been fun.

Just before he could go on to wonder as to how much fun he potentially missed, the boy pointed towards the bruises that were forming on himself and winced. Whatever regret he had for staying inside flew out the window almost instantly. Seeing those certainly didn't help make his opinion of snow any better. In fact, it may have just made it worse.

His comment about the disgusting state of the bathroom and the use of it made him feel a bit self conscious knowing that using it had been his reason for being there. Then again, he wasn't quite aware of the horrible state the place was when he'd first made the decision.

As if on cue, another boy stepped out commenting on the awkwardness of the situation with laugh as he washed his hands. Zed couldn't help but snigger at the comments that followed, most specially at the last one to which he nonchalantly responded, "Or they could've been sitting and taking a dump."

He hadn't quite noticed the bruise on his face until the other boy had pointed it out. "Don't tell me you got that from a snowball fight as well?" he asked, not quite able to keep the disbelief out of his voice. "Just how hard were the others throwing these snowballs?"

Anatole looked curiously at the Gryffindor boy. It was evident he was wondering why he still stayed in this dirty, dingy bathroom just to chat with people he didn't know and mostly likely didn't want to know. Probably, the other boy thought the same, and frankly, Anatole did too. He could have been checking on Rosie or pelting more people with snowballs. He would like that better.

Once again, silence loomed in the lavatory. Everyone was busy thinking, Anatole considering which of the strangers would be a better friend, and which one a possible formidable enemy. Clearly, the blue-robed boy had a chance at friendship.

The confused Gryffindor one still looked at him, raising an eyebrow and inquiring, “Where did you get that bruise from?”

Anatole laughed a bit to himself, almost collapsing off the sink, which would have definitely caused another bruise, maybe stacked in the same spot. ”Oh, it’s from the fight. Well, the snowball one, of course. Whacked hard twice in the cheek, a bit painful.” He didn’t think the Ravenclaw would help him much in terms of judgement, but he asked, ”Does it look bad?” He hoped he would say no. He wished that he could just leave, but his polite little self just had to make an introduction. "By the way, I'm Anatole."

"O-oh, uh, I'm Midas." he responded. It was common courtesy to give your name after offered the others, after all.  As he looked at the boy's cheek - Anatole, he said his name was - , he realized that the bruise was beginning to turn blackish purple-ish. "Oh! Uh, that looks..." What would he say?

"If I say it's fine, he might just ignore it, even though it looks quite painful. " he thought. "Then, if I say it looks bad, I'll look really rude because of that."

"Uhh, it's not as, uh-h, bad, as, before..." he stuttered out very unconfidently. "It s-shouldn't be too bad..."

The situation was getting extremely awkward, and Midas didn't really want to stay in this dirty bathroom chatting. He had things to do, and talking with strangers in a dark and dirty bathroom wasn't on the to-do list.

"So uh, this is, u-umm, interesting and all, but uh, I've got some classes, so uh, I guess I'll just, uh-h, leave."

As Midas turned around to walk toward the exit, he then realized he was right in front of a wall. He would have almost walked into it, but he managed to stop in time. He tried to step back, but he tripped on something hard on the ground and fell.

He suddenly felt something wet and warm next to his head... His head hurt too... As he moved his head to look at the liquid, he realized it was blood - HIS blood.

Anatole was exhausted and didn't want to return to the fight. It was a long day, and clearly he had no more sense of time. It had grown a little late. He tilted his head at the boy, flashing a pleasant smile. "Well, happy to meet you, Midas. Glad you happened to stumble upon this room...to uh..." He laughed, not finishing his sentence because the sheer hilarity of the potty reference overtook him.

He grimaced as Midas replied, concerning his wound. "It...looks fine?" Midas finished his thought, and Anatole rolled his eyes, grumbling and hopping off the sink, trying to look at his frenzied reflection in the shattered mirror. "You're not rude at all! It'll heal on its own."

An awkward laugh stuttered out, and the whole bathroom was silent. The only noises one would pick up was a quiet drip of a leaky faucet, or a slow swinging of a stall door. "Should you? Yeah, uh, I should too, I've got to get back in the figh---"

The boy's Goldberg-esque fall made Anatole jump a little. It was a little laughable and certainly strange that he plopped down, hitting the hard floor of the bathroom and drawing blood from just a simple trip. "Oh! Are, uh, you okay? Need some help...? I-I can help you get up!" He held out his hand, hoping Midas would take it and they could exit. Anatole was thankful something like that hadn't happened to him yet.

A bruise was just a bruise.
