A New Life
[quote]The first morning in London was miserable, but Yeji was excited nonetheless. She stayed up the entire night due to pure excitement to attend Hogwarts and the jetlag. Yeji was rather sad she wouldn't have the time to explore London; the city was vastly different from Seoul. The sounds, smell, and just the general atmosphere of London radiated different vibes. Sunlight started to peer through the window curtains, and the sound of footsteps going up the stairs prompted Yeji to pretend she was asleep. Yeji's mother entered the room, and she could tell Yeji was awake but went along with the facade. "예지야 일어나.""Yeji wake up."Yeji displayed her amazing acting skills, pretending as if she just woke up from a deep slumber. Her mother simply gave her a smile and said "아침이 준비됐다.""Breakfast is ready." Yeji got up from her bed and went through her morning routine; her trunk and outfit for today were already prepared the day before.
As she headed downstairs, Yeji was hit with a strange smell from the kitchen. It smelled rather meaty/greasy with a hint of eggs. Yeji didn't eat breakfast that often in Korea, but whenever she did have breakfast it didn't smell anything like what was being prepared. Getting used to western customs was going to be quite the hassle, it felt rather strange sitting at a table when at home rather than sitting on the floor. Yeji was served what her mother called "A full English breakfast". Her plate had sausage, eggs, beans, and toast; it seemed rather unhealthy to be called breakfast. Yeji ate most of the food served, she wasn't very fond of the beans. They were nothing like red beans or soybeans, and it had a strange sweetness to it. After eating, Yeji ran back upstairs to grab her stuff and left for the train station with her mother.
Wrapped in a large winter coat, Yeji dragged her luggage to the station. The luggage was quite heavy, but Yeji wasn't even sure what could be in the trunk; the trunk was prepared by her mother. The two got to a pillar that they ran through and emerged on an extremely busy and crowded platform. Yeji wanted to be surprised, but she wasn't given the time as she was dragged along by her mother. They squeezed through crowds of wizards and witches and dodged waves of other kids running around frantically. Before getting on the train, Yeji shared a hug with her mother. Yeji was also given some instructions on where to go and what to do once she arrived at Hogwarts. The two jumped as the train let out a loud whistle. Yeji was rushed by her mother to board the train and the two shared their goodbyes. As the train left, Yeji could hear her mother yelling after her: "조심해! 사랑해!""Be careful! I love you!". Yeji rushed to her cabin and poked her head through the window to yell back "안영!""Goodbye!"
