Amelia stepped out onto the Platform and automatically gasped at the sight before her, a beautiful maroon train was right in front of her, blowing out steam while students and parents gathered around it. Parents hastily moving about, making sure their children had everything they needed for the First Term. Younger years looked buzzing with excitement, while the older years looked irked to be going back to school after a long holiday. Amelia was practically fizzing with excitement; this was going to be her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After all of the stories her mother had told her about the adventures she had inside the walls of the castle, she had been counting down the days until September 1st on her calendar; hoping the days would go just a bit faster so she could get to Hogwarts quicker.
"Do you have everything, sweetheart?" her mother asked her, snapping Amelia out of her daydreaming. She double checked her luggage and coat pockets and once she was sure she had everything, she nodded. The only thing Amelia didn't have that she really wanted was an owl. Her mother and father had agreed that it was the best decision not to get her an owl during her First Year, claiming that she wouldn't know how to take care of it. Amelia disagreed, she thought she'd take care of her pet perfectly, but now was not the time to moan about it, she decided that it'd be best to send a letter to them later.
"Okay, sweetheart, now remember to owl your father and I every day, or as often as you can. And if you ever have any problems, send us a letter, understood?" her mother bent down to Amelia's height and placed a gentle hand on her cheek.
Amelia smiled at her mother,
"Of course, mum! I'll send you both owls every single day! Maybe even twice a day!"
Her mother laughed and placed a kiss on the girl's cheek before straightening up again.
"Sorry your father couldn't make it sweetie, something about his job is keeping him busy. Truth be told, I have no idea what." her mother chuckled to herself before checking the time on her wristwatch, "Oh Merlin, look at the time! You should get on the train now before you miss it."
Amelia smiled at her mum and wished her a final goodbye before stepping on the train to Hogwarts, ready to begin her First Year.
