Avery grew up with his wizard born mother and muggle father, and has lived his entire life hoping that he would become a wizard like his mother. He has an older brother who is not at all magical, and is not at all interested in magic either.

Avery was born female, but prefers to be thought of as a male or boy, and feels uncomfortable with any other pronouns.

He has orange hair, pale skin, dark eyes, a short stature, and likes to wear overalls under his robes.

Avery was nine years old when he first used magic, and it was purely by accident, as he somehow managed to cause an entire floor of his house to turn to sand during an argument with his brother over his hedghog plush collection being 'too childish'.

His parents were both more or less supportive of him in most of what he did, but his father seemed to be the one he was much closer with, despite how much he looked up to his mother. He and his brother also got along, at least as much as they could, but his brother had a habit of pressuring him into doing things, and wasn't the most supportive of his trans identity or his interest in magic.

Avery is very easily excited, but also rather shy, so he doesn't like to show it. Trusting people is for some reason a hardship for Avery, since hasn't had many friends in the past. However, he is rather friendly with people he feels comfortable with. He is also very close with his family, and is often feeling rather homesick.

Avery's interests include magic, plants, sketching, and for some odd reason, hedgehog plushies.

He also has many strange skills, such as tracking, cartography, plant identification, knitting, sewing and embroidery, all of which he was taught by his father.

Avery's many fears include ghosts, needles, public speaking, and rejection. He attempts to avoid these things as much as possible.

Avery has several bad habits, the most noticible of them being his mumbling, and that he tends to bite his lip when he is nervous. He also tends to give up a bit too easily when faced with challenges.

Avery's goals for his time in Hogwarts are that he learns as much as he can about magic, namely spells and charms, and also that he'll maybe make some friends while he's here.
