Piper spent most of his early life in a small town on the edge of Bath, balancing on a tightrope between the muggle and wizarding worlds. His parents, despite being proficient magic users, don't lead the most magically extravagant lives- his mother is a broom technician, more focused on the laws of physics than magic, and his father plays for a band at a local wizards-only pub. Piper was lucky enough to live the stereotypical happy childhood- nice school, good friends and academic success. Truth be told, he's not convinced he even needs the time at Hogwarts; the life of a writer, maybe a poet, appeals to him much more. He won a regional Young Playwright's competition with half-hour drama about pop culture last year. It's still his proudest achievement.
Appearance-wise, Piper's on the short side, with a warm face that suits a smile and an untidy mop of Oreo-brown hair that his mum won't let him grow out. He's got a deep tan from the Spanish side of the family. He's about as easy-going as they come; it's hard to stress out a guy who's got a full back-up plan in place should wizarding not work out. When it comes to people, Piper is always open- perhaps a little too open. He won't go out of his way to talk to people, but if someone has started a conversation, no matter how hostile, they should prepare for an overwhelming tide of cheerfulness. He has an almost unerring ability to look on the bright side of any situation, and optimism comes naturally to him. Piper firmly believes that puns are the best use of the English language known to man.
