Misty Wade, 11, lives with her mother and father, as well as her down on his luck uncle, who moved in the last year. Her mother, Tina Wade, is a pureblood, while her father, Matthew Wade, is a muggleborn. Her uncle (father's brother), is a muggle who is aware of magic but who has been in denial about it. She has a fairly typical figure, though her growing arms and legs sometimes trip her up. She started puberty later than others, but is quickly catching up. She still has a slightly rounded face that she wished would elongate. She has hazel eyes and black hair that she often wears tied back or in a bun. Misty is energetic and has trouble concentrating when she would rather be outside. As a result she isn't the best student, however, when she finds something she enjoys she can spend hours at a time learning about it. She has a passion for swimming and running, but never got into quidditch due to a fear of heights. She often withdraws into herself during social situations, and her parents hope going to Hogwarts will allow her to finally make some strong bonds with others her age. She grew up with the concept of magic but her parents were careful to also promote excitement involving the non-magic world, in case Misty was a squib. Her first instance of accidental magic was at the age of five. She and her parents were out on a boat in a lake. They had spent the day on the beach and Misty was throwing a tantrum about not being able to see the fish. Once they were on the boat, when her parents turned around they saw Misty laughing at fish who were floating in spheres of water suspended in the air. When Misty saw her parents she lost her concentration and the fish fell. Fortunately, they were far enough from the shore that no muggles were close enough to notice. Most instances of magic following this were small enough, and caused no issues. The family was prepared when her Hogwarts letter came, and even her uncle celebrated with her. Though nervous to leave home, Misty is excited to arrive and start a very different type of education.
