Samuel Wade Barnes was born in Portree, Scotland to a muggle and a Witch, of whom belonged to Hufflepuff. He is a shy child, often unable to socialize, but in the few occasions in which he does, he gets attached. He often gets jealous, but is unable to speak up about it. He mainly keeps to himself though, often reading or sketching (horribly must we add). His father owns a small farm, and Sam has grown up assisting his family with farm duties, his favorite being anything involving animals.

When he was six his best (and only) friend Johnathan told him that he was moving away. After receiving this information he went home, heading straight to the sheep pen, his safe place. A few of the sheep noticed the state of disarray the child was in and came to comfort him. As Sam was petting one of them he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Somehow, he had made an entire scarf out of the sheep's wool without noticing. When he took this newfound information to his mother, she just smiled, and decided to teach him how to knit. By the time Johnathan left they had matching hats and scarves (Jonathan received the one Sam had made from the sheep).

When Sam enters Hogwarts at the young age of 11 he is around 150 cm tall, a lanky child, especially for an 11 year old boy. Soft green eyes matching the pasture where he has spent many days, paired with short, fluffy, brown hair.
