Quincy is a scrappy boy, fairly tough and confident despite being one of the scrawniest students in his year. He is quick-witted, rather sarcastic, and highly critical of both his teachers and his peers. These traits help Quincy to excel in his schoolwork; however, when it comes to making friends, others find Quincy's tendency to point out other's errors as too abrasive and snobbish. Thus, Quincy spends a good portion of his free time sitting alone, reading a book or playing Wizard's Chess against himself.

Like many a Quicksilver, Quincy has pale skin, freckles, and dark brown hair. His almond-shaped grey eyes, a hallmark trait of the Quicksilver family, often glance around inquisitively behind his rectangular-rimmed glasses that sit upon his thin button nose. When confused, he will often squint and pucker his thin lips, giving him the appearance of a cuddly rabbit, sniffing for carrots.

Quincy was born in London as the youngest of five siblings. His older sisters and brothers all were gifted with magic, despite that their mother is a full-on Muggle. For many years, his older siblings teased him that he would break this lucky streak and "take after Mum" as the next non-magical member of the family. However, when Quincy turned seven years old, this teasing stopped when Quincy had his first accidental magical outburst. After one of his sisters had locked him in a broom closet, Quincy was able to blast the door off the hinges and set himself free.

Since then, his magical abilities have shown themselves in full force whenever Quincy gets angry, allegedly much stronger than was ever displayed in any of his siblings before him. Quincy's father, a retired editor of the Daily Prophet, has speculated as to whether that strength comes from the level of Quincy's intellect or the intensity of his temper. Quincy's mother, a meter maid, believes it to be a bit of both.
