Vincent Eastender is a young boy born on the 23rd of October to Anthony Eastender and Christine Lee in the village Bourton-on-the-Water, in Gloucestershire, England.

His father is a pureblood wizard from the Eastender family who has lost his magic and mobility due to being cursed in his profession as a cursebreaker, and has since isolated himself from his family and avoided magic, causing Vincent to grow up in a surprisingly muggle-like household. His mother, Christine Lee was a half-blood with great dreams for the future, who had unfortunately died from terminal illness when Vincent was a young boy.

Due to his shy and introverted nature, he has spent most of his childhood delving into the fantastical world of books instead of playing tag with any of his classmates from school, which had unfortunately led to him being the 'loner' of the class and the 'boring' one despite his teacher's attempt to get him to socialize more with others.

Several years of being rejected from 'play groups' and the kids at the playground had led to him feeling ridiculously self-conscious about himself and causing him to retreat further into his only passion, books. However, this has caused him to find it very difficult to properly express himself to others-his father is honestly no help in that department and his mother is sadly no longer in this world- which had led to frequent bouts of accidental magic that range from mildly annoying to destructive.

Those are often dealt with by his father swiftly and without drawing too much attention onto them-well, he tries not to anyways. But each time it happened, it only made Vincent far more self-conscious about his lack of control over his magic and the 'disappointed' expression on his father's face only made the situation worse. (Though, neither of them were particularly good at communicating with each other and as a self-conscious child, it is no surprise how Vincent thought that his father is disappointed or displeased with him when in reality that is what his father's neutral expression looks like.)

Long story short, it wasn't long before Vincent found a letter addressed to him from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His father had expected that since the first sign of magic in his child, reacted calmly and only proceeded to bring Vincent to shop for his supplies all within two days.
Some time ago...

"I have no idea what I am doing," He would laugh as the window just behind him cracked, causing a small breeze to sweep through the room. Indeed, he had no idea what he is doing and why is this, or anything at all happening to him at the moment.

His father stared down at him with a disapproving look. He is going to explode soon, isn't he, Vincent thought, dread pooling in his stomach at the dark expression on his father's face. "Vincent," He immediately snapped his head down, already knowing what is going to happen next.

In response to his emotions, the window behind him made another loud 'crack' and Vincent honestly thinks that his magic is stupid because, while sure, it is rather stuffy in here and he is having difficulty breathing the longer this went on but that doesn't change the fact that his magic is stupid.

'I want to get away, not put myself in more trouble!' He yelled inwardly, and there was a popping sound before he found himself standing in front of a lake-quite a distance away from his house and is honestly his favourite place in the entire world- and it took only a moment for his ears to register the rustling of the leaves and the quacking from the ducks-they are probably startled by him.

Well, he got away alright. But it doesn't change the fact that he thinks that his magic is stupid. He could already hear the scolding he is going to receive the moment he gets back, and that thought alone seem to drag him down even more.

Vincent slumped down, dropping into a cross-legged position in front of the lake just as he released an explosive sigh- he has never been good at well, anything really and looking at the disappointed expression on his father's face only seem to make the feeling more pronounced.

Several crows fluttered down from a tree, recognizing him as the one who would often bring them food- he had always felt at peace with animals. After all, as long as you feed them and doesn't scare them, they would be nice to you. Cautiously, he raised a hand to run a finger over the crow's wings, a smile lighting up on his face when it didn't hop away, instead remaining in the same position it was in for several moments before finally hopping away once it realized that it won't be getting any food this time round.

There was a long moment of peace, with just the sound of nature around him before his previous thoughts set in-what if his father got even more angry?

That worry, despite the deep set fear in him, was minute compared to the calm being in nature inspired in him, so the only outward reaction Vincent had was tug at his black hair in worry, running his finger through the short strands as he tried to ignore it-his father is most likely fuming at the broken window and trying to peel off the books that stuck to his bedroom walls. (He really wanted to read them all, it isn't his fault if the book is just too interesting to be put down right?)

He stared at the reflection in the water as he half-heartedly tried to convince himself that he is actually not in the wrong and his father wouldn't be too disappointed at him but all he could see is the reflection of a young boy with bright blue down-turned eyes and baby fat on his cheeks, his inky black hair ended with wispy strands at his jaw in a bob-he never really liked this hairstyle a lot and his classmates would laugh at him for having a 'lame' hairstyle.

Father didn't pay anyone any mind when they sneered at him for walking with a limp, or when mothers pulled their children away at the sight of his father; 'They are simply too caught up in their own beliefs to understand,' he father would mutter, putting on a strong front even when his legs crumbled under him or when he was clearly in pain for not being able to eat for more than a week.

Vincent doesn't understand why is this all happening to his father and when he asked, the man only gave a sigh and flicked his head, telling him to go do his homework. But the worry ate at him, even though he is scared of his father sometimes, he doesn't want him to suffer either-

He had always imagined what caused his father to be that way-he wondered if it has to do with how his mother can only talk to him through a painting or if it has to do with why his grandparents were torn out of every picture in the house...but a child is still a child, he couldn't quite link those incidents together but he is suspicious regardless.

Maybe his father was trying to subjugate a terrifying monster? Perhaps his mother can only speak to him through the painting because she is busy guarding the monster-making sure it doesn't sneak out and wreck havoc in the world?
