Madeline Doe is a tall, lithe girl with a pale complexion. Her face, nose, and mouth slim but soft. She has an air of quiet self-confidence in her abilities but can come off a bit cold and serious when it comes to social interaction. She didn’t grow up with other kids besides her sister. She has very long and straight hair, as black as ink. Madeline’s eyes match her hair, with dark chocolate hues, heavy lids, and thick eyelashes. Taught to have good posture, speak politely, and win the fight no matter what you need to do, Madeline is prepared to fight dirty to live a successful life after school but she feels as though she’s missing something.

Madeline is a proud pure-blood that grew up originally in Canada. Her family was infamous in their... unusual and ruthless ways. The Doe family are proud, rich, and selective. Madeline had a sister who she loved dearly. When their magic started manifesting, they used to try and make buds blossom in the back garden or make paper toys fly to each other, sometimes with success. Madeline used to accidentally pull chairs out from under people when through a tantrum, and her sister would tease Maddie while she wrote lines or did servant’s chores as punishment.

Clementine was always more thoughtful and adventurous than Madeline. She would often be the one to come up with a new game to play, a new story to take part in, or a new trouble to be had. They didn’t have any other children to play with, so Madeline was never overly socialized. Clem was the family favorite, so Madeline kept to herself when Clementine was getting special teachings. She didn’t mind though. Less in the spotlight, meant more freedom when she was an adult. But as they got older, Clem eventually broke down, still so young at 7, she was overwhelmed at the responsibility on her shoulders, and felt trapped. So Madeline stepped forward and told her parents she would take on the family name. She would prove herself to be strong enough so Clem could be free. Madeline didn’t know the lengths of her future responsibilities, but she would do anything for Clem. Little did she know that her future, according to her parents, is set on mastering trade deals and routes for highly magical, dark, and illegal artefacts. And making sure their name stood strong with the other Pure-Blood families.

Then one chilly autumn day, when they both turned 8, they snuck out to the nearest muggle town to explore. It was their last chance to really be kids before homeschooling became serious so they were prepared to excel in their first year in a proper school. They spoke to muggle adults, played pranks on the neighborhood, and played with muggle children. Who Madeline realized really... weren't that different than them? The nanny had seen them sneak out, and sent an owl to their father. By the time he had received the owl and apparated, he could only find Madeline. During their chaotic troublemaking, they had been separated. She misses her best friend and sister. A funeral was held after a year of searching alongside muggle authorities, where voices rose and fists went flying. Only broken up by the flickering light through the window of hundreds of muggles paying their respects out front. Their secluded lives were found, the families were disgusted at spilled pure blood, blame was thrown everywhere-- so that night, the family packed up without warning on the next boat over the sea. It would take a while to build connections which spread her parents too thin at home to homeschool Madeline. So when she turned 11, her parents begrudgingly agreed to send her to Hogwarts. Madeline’s heart fluttered for the first time in years. Excitement? Freedom from her parents? She agreed, doing her best to hide her enthusiasm.

After her sister’s sudden passing, the family decided to leave Canada and start new elsewhere. No one knows their family, though Madeline knows her charming mother and stoic father would soon get in the good names of the other pure blood families. Ever since the incident with her sister, Madeline is questioning everything she was taught by her parents. Were their views really her own too? Were blood traitors and mudbloods really so vile? Terrified but with a stoic face, Madeline is prepared for her first year at Hogwarts, and is wondering what house she’ll end up in… and how her parents will react.
