Physical: Sylvia is a small girl for her age, but she doesn’t mind. If it means she can hide away in the shadows then all the better.

Sylvia has medium length red hair and large doe eyes. As a child, her mother would alway put her hair in pigtails( she thought it was dreadfully adorable) and Sylvia has kept them that away ever since.

Personality: Sylvia was born to a pair of hermits. Her mother was recluse potions maker, while her father was a shut-in writer, lost in his world of fiction. So it was only natural that their precious daughter would adopt the same traits. She is quiet, shy and would definely prefer the company if her plants over any human being. Sylvia approaches knowledge with both enthusiastiam and scepticism (blame her grandmother for that.) Since coming to Hogwarts she’s being trying to break out of her shell more, though she might come off as a bit aggressive in her conduct of doing so. She tends to scare people off despite trying to be nice.

She dislikes pushy people and people who are overbearing. When angry, Sylvia will give any one the cold shoulder for an indefinite time. In fight or flight situation, she’ll often fight her way through it, though as she gets older she’s becoming more crafty in her ways of manuvering situations. She is the type to hold grudges.

She is a bit of a daddy’s girl and often cling to her father’s side as a child. Her sheltered upbringing shows, she’s isn’t quick to welcome new and unknown faces. She’s usually hesitant to make the first move.

History: Sylvia was born to the witch Florence and her husband Arnold Blackwood.

Florence was a potions maker of some renown, while Arnold is a fantasy author of some success. The couple met when Florence was visiting Nova Soctia, Canada for business and turned Arnold into a frog by accident. They married a few years after and had Sylvia there. The family moved to Cheshire, England to care for Sylvia’s ill Grandmother.

In both England and in Canada, Sylvia attended public muggle schools, but in the safe space of her home, magic is being taught...somewhat effectively. Her mother’s often too busy flying around to give Sylvia any form of real training, so much of her magical knowledge is from her senile grandmother and the books that her father (a muggle, mind you) tries to read to her. It goes about as well as you think it would.

The first time she had activated her magic powers was when she was 6. She desperately wanted a cookie before dinner. To her glee (and her parent’s mortification) she was able to use magic to bring the cookie jar from the top shelf and gave it open itself for her.

Sylvia got her invitation to Hogwarts on her 11th birthday. (Her grandmother told her it was a terrible diease until her mother corrected her) When she got it, the young girl was filled with excitement, relief and anexity. Sylvia does not have many human friends. Her hermit nature makes her prefer the company of her mothers plants over girls her age. She hopes that going to Hogwarts will be a step in a new direction. Now that she’ll be with kids just like her, maybe she’ll find some friends.
